The hahnel Giga T Pro II 2.4GHz Wireless Timer Remote for Sony combines the functions of a wireless remote shutter release and a remote timer into a single very useful accessory operating at 2.4GHz. Using the small, lightweight receiver and transmitter (batteries included) you have access to programmable features such as a self timer, interval timer, long exposure setting, and exposure count--all of which may be used in any combination, making the possibilities nearly limitless. There is no limit to the possible number of exposures, and an exposure as long as 99 hours, 59 minutes and 59 seconds can be programmed.

The Giga T Pro II has a Transmitter On/Off button to save battery power. It also has two timing loops, one embedded in the other. This allows you to repeat the original timed program as many times as required. You can also use the original program feature to create a timed 10-minute series of astral shots. You can then set this program to repeat at hourly intervals. In addition, you can set up a basic program which allows you to set up a timed shooting sequence, defining the delay, number of shots, interval shots and so on.

This is a necessary addition to your kit bag for time-lapse or other long exposure photography, including astral photography, wildlife photography and studio photography.

Compatible with Sony A100/A200/A300/A350/A500/A550/A700/A850/A900

Comments about hahnel Giga T Pro II 2.4GHz Wireless Timer Remote for Sony Cameras:

I received this in record time from B&H photo(their service is excellent).
It does everything I want it to do,and the quality and build is very good. Just a few things I found irritating; the LCD screens on both the Rx and Tx are really hard to read. Every 60 seconds you must press power button or it will turn off.
Apart from that it works really well, and i was impressed by the range and "Through obstacle"
transmission and receiving, it will do its thing
if you have the camera behind a wall, fence,or in another room. It will enable you do to time lapse if you have a camera with this capability, or
computer software.Well worth the money. It will also work on most Sony alpha cameras(I have the A77).

Comments about hahnel Giga T Pro II 2.4GHz Wireless Timer Remote for Sony Cameras:

I ordered this wireless remote mainly for time lapse photography. The remote consists of a transmitter and a receiver which is mounted on the hot-shoe of the camera. Alternatively, the transmitter can be connected to the camera via the receiver cable. The manual is laid out pretty well so are the menu, buttons and joypad of the transmitter. There are no problems when using the unit as a remote control for night shots etc. The transmitter shuts off a bit early for my like (to save battery power, I assume) which can be a bit difficult to turn back on when you are outside at night. The issues I have with this unit is the self-timer or countdown timer. Numerous times I programmed the unit to start firing shots at a certain time. So far my success rate has been only about 50%. I am not sure if it is operator error, an issue with my Sony Alpha (A55) or with the unit itself. The problem initially seemed to be the camera's sleep mode. When the camera goes to sleep, the remote will wake the camera up most of the time, but the trigger will not necessarily fire. I tried the same with the AC adapter AC-PW20 and the camera's setting to "remote" which will prevent the camera from going to sleep, but I had not much more success. If I want to take a series of shots like a sunrise, I have to set my alarm clock and manually initiate the sequence of pictures. The low success rate with the countdown timer has been my biggest disappointment. The manual of the Sony Alpha 55 does not provide any additional information about this issue, so that I am not really sure if it's something that I am missing, or just a poor design of Sony and/or hähnel. For the retail price of [$] I wish hähnel had included a strap for the transmitter (the hole is there!). Just in case the countdown timer is doing what it is supposed to do, so you can hang the transmitter on your tripod instead of putting it on the floor.

Comments about hahnel Giga T Pro II 2.4GHz Wireless Timer Remote for Sony Cameras:

The remote shuts of very quickly, to conserve power I suppose. But very nice overall. I also wish the right-angle release cable were low profile.
