The 50-150mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM APO Lens for Canon Cameras from Sigma is a fast f/2.8 telephoto zoom lens with a 50-150mm focal length (75-225mm equivalent in 35mm format) designed for cameras with a Canon EF mount. This long autofocus telephoto gets you close to the action, and it has an optical image stabilization system that makes it possible to hand-hold the lens at up to four shutter speeds slower than usual, while maintaining sharp, shake-free images. The Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM) gives you quiet, high-speed autofocus, and also allows full-time manual focus override.
Six SLD glass elements help prevent chromatic aberrations, and provide excellent image quality throughout the zoom range. Super Multi Coating on the glass surfaces reduces flare and ghosting, and helps ensure high-contrast images. The 9-blade diaphragm gives a very pleasing quality to the out-of-focus areas of your photos (generally known as bokeh). A built-in tripod collar provides a solid mount when it's placed on a tripod.

Comments about Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM APO Lens for Canon Cameras:
Was a little hesitant to purchase this lens over a Canon lens but I already have the Sigma 17-50 2.8 lens so the 50-150 is the perfect compliment to it. Seems very sharp from 50-150 and it is nice to have the fast lens. It is a little heavy but that was expected. Perfect for my Canon 60D.

Comments about Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM APO Lens for Canon Cameras:
I purchased this lens for it's low light reputation. I have now used it for a month in all kinds of conditions, landscape, sports and event. I am amazed with the results. I have very little if any post production. This alone saves me hours per week, not to mention these are some of the finest photos i have taken!

Comments about Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM APO Lens for Canon Cameras:
I bought this lens to use during my sons basketball season. It's performed terrific. It's been just as fast and a little sharper at 2.8 than my Canon 70-200 2.8L non-is. With my 7D the 50-150mm focal length has been a better fit when I'm on the court shooting from the corners. The OS works great with no need for a monopod. Is it heavy? Absolutely but so is my 70-200. The build is great very similar to my other Canon lens. The zoom is smooth and the auto focus has not let me down. The OS is not as quiet as Canon but it's certainly not a distraction in any way. Some say it's a little pricey for an APS-C only lens. But without any direct competition in this focal length and for what it offers, quick auto focus and sharpness all the way across the length at 2.8, I think it's priced accurately.

Comments about Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM APO Lens for Canon Cameras:
After the first outing I could tell right away I made the right purchase the clarity of my images was far better, the OS was noticeable compared to a lens without OS. The price was fair, I don't know what a canon equivalent price would be but for an amateur photographer I'm well satisfied.

Comments about Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM APO Lens for Canon Cameras:
I purchased this lens for my Canon 60D to supplement to my Cannon 17–55 lens and give me 80-240 mid-telephoto coverage. I call it a Grand Lens because it costs approximately $ . I give it four stars because it is an excellent lens for the price, but not quite professional quality. The lens is so heavy that it has a clip on the lens for mounting the lens directly to a tripod, but I find the additional lens weight steadies the camera for offhand shooting. To carry my camera with my two lenses and a flash, I also purchased a Tamrac Aria 6 bag. It is a snug fit, but the bag is relatively small, water resistant, and does not look like a camera bag. It is a combination I can heartily recommend.

Comments about Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM APO Lens for Canon Cameras:
I have settled on APS-C sensor cameras and want to use lenses that correctly fit these cameras. I had been looking for a 70-200 full sensor equivalent lens. This was the first fast glass lens that had good reviews for sharpness and fixed f-stop across the zoom range. In real world usage I have found my exposures to be tack sharp.Recommended.

so far exceeded my expectation, obtained it for portraits and indoor/stage performance but got the benefit of OS for outdoor since tried it with 2xsigma adapter to reach 300mm on crop body. fast focus. recommend use of support with helpful builtin collar with monopod or tripod

Comments about Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM APO Lens for Canon Cameras:
I use this on my Canon 60D. I needed a fast lens with a little more reach than my 85mm 1.8 for shooting my daughter's equestrian events. I also used a 70-200 f4 L series Canon but on a crop I was missing too many close ups. The focal lengths are perfect on the crop sensor. The lens is sharp wide open at all focal lengths. The multiple OS modes are spot on. Great lens for what I need and less than half the price of the Canon 2.8 equivelent. Only negative is it's pretty heavy.

Comments about Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM APO Lens for Canon Cameras:
I am a serious amateur and was looking for a longer lens than the 17-55 2.8 IS with my 7D to take photos of my daughters cheerleading comps. These are varsity D1 teams I shoot and the action is fast and the lighting horrible. This lens delivered the firt time out of the gate. How tough were the conditions in the gym you ask, I was shooting at ISO 1250 @ f3.5 and a shutter speed of 160 and I was still a stop short on the lighting. I shot 8 teams 850 pictures and the keeper rate was well into the 90% range and I am sure that will improve as I get used to the lens. The images out of my 7D have never looked so good either and when shooting individuals and wanted the shallow depth of field 2.8 was fantastic, beautiful bokeh and sharp everywhere it needed to be. I had a photosession over this past weekend that I would have normally used my 17-55 under studio lights and decided to test this lens. For the groups I was up at F14 and this lens hit everything, not one out of focus shot out of the 190 pictures, there were jump shots, twirling shots with hair flying indivduals, groups and all were amazing. I don't know why this lens is not reviewed more it is a great alternative to the 70-200 and a fantastic complement to the canon 17-55. It was a heavy lens to use all day but it felt professional and the OS did it's job at the long end of the range. I have never been more pleased with a lens than this one and highly recommend it. I can keep my 7D for a few more years now.

I use this lens for photo and video weddings, I use aps-c sensor cameras, the crop sensor is just the exactly that I need, different that the 70-200 2.8 (100-300 equivalent). For video the zoom and focus ring are really smooth, It also have a nice bokeh. I would recommend this lens to a friend.

Comments about Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM APO Lens for Canon Cameras:
I use this lens primarily for swimming events. I have only used it for one event so far but I am completely impressed. Images are clear and sharp. No focusing issues. I can get impressive bokeh if I choose. The lens is heavy but not too bad. I did not use a mono or tri-pod and had no issues holding the lens. I would if I constantly held the lens up though.
The lens is big especially with the hood on it and this is probably the worst thing I can say about this lens.
Overall I am completely satisfied. I use this lens on a Canon 7D so my investment has been in APS-C lens and have no regrets.

Comments about Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM APO Lens for Canon Cameras:
I was a bit skeptical about this lens at first due to the lack of reviews available online. However, after recieving this lens and testing it out, I discovered that it is tack sharp with excellent colour rendition. It is almost as sharp as my sharpest lens, the Canon 300mm F4L. I would say its about 95% as sharp as the Canon. For the price, it is a great buy when compared to the canon 70-200 f2.8 IS. The 50-150mm range feels very good on my crop body and is excellent for portrait, event, or wedding photography. The lens has full time manual focus.
One thing I disliked prior to the purchase was the fact that the focus and zoom rings are switched in comparison to Canon lenses. However, in practical use, I did not find this to be a problem as the focus ring is firm enough to hold its position while you turn the zoom ring. The zoom ring was also not too far away, I could easily rotate it without changing my grip, and my hands are about average size.
Overall, I am very satisfied with this purchase and have begun recommending it to my friends.

Comments about Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM APO Lens for Canon Cameras:
I have never cared for the 70-200 FL on a crop body - too short on one end and too long on the other. I took a chance with the Sigma knowing their history of focusing issues with other lenses, but really wanting it to work out well. After 2 weeks and 1000+ pics, I can firmly say Sigma has nailed this one!Lens is sharp wide open, slightly better when stopped down 1/3 stop. Focusing has been fast and accurate on both stationary and moving targets. OS system is every bit as good as the new Canon IS system.Build quality seems to be very good. Lens is slightly lighter and seems less wide than a 70-200. MFD is better too at 2.6 ft vs the 3.94 of the 70-200. Hood is a little big, long and goofy looking but it works well. Tripod foot could be a little longer , but again works well. The only issue I have with the lens is that I believe the cost is a little high. Given it can only be used on crops, it should fall in the [$]-[$] range, where it wouldn't be so close to the 70-200. Despite that objection, I would not hesitate to buy this lens again as it is exceptional and plays well with my Sigma 17-50 and 120-300.Just buy it.

My first pro-level glass and I admit, you can see the sharpness difference in-camera. Fast focus (full-time manual over auto), accurate focus, heavy but not for F2.8 zoom lens. Compatible with Sigma APO tele-converters, so I'm going to invest in a couple and then will only need to carry a wide-angle in addition to this one. I do wish it had dust and weather-sealing, but at this price compared to the Canon, it's hard to complain. The prior version of this lens rated a 9 of 10 on Pop Photo's review, and this one seems to be even more impressive. Sigma, you've done it again, and you've pretty much won me over for good!

Nice focal length to be use indoor events on crop camera.!!The sharpness at 2.8 is ok acceptable at all focal length , but when you stop it down to f4 its sweet spot..!!! For the price same as canon f4 is , You can get both f2.8 and best f4 with IS and if you want some more reach go get a sigma teleconvert 1.4x or 2x for daylight ..!!

Comments about Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM APO Lens for Canon Cameras:
I'm using the Sigma 50-150 lens on a Canon 60D body. I almost went with the 24-70 and 70-200 combination but then I saw the 50-150 listed as a new lens last year so I waited till it came out and I went with the 17-50 and 50-150. I do a lot of pet photography for kennels and the 50mm is perfect for portraits on the 60D and then I get a little reach with the 150mm. This lens is tack sharp and is very fast focus and it does a great job with the 60D following moving animals either flying or running.
Sigma is putting out some great lens that I think compare to Canon "L" lens for a lot less cash. The only downfall I see is it doesn't have any kind of dust/weather seals.
