The Kirk PZ-146 Camera Plate for Nikon D800 and D800E Cameras is a quick-release plate that's designed specifically for the Nikon D800 and D800E cameras. Its dovetail fits Arca-Swiss-style clamps to enable a quick release from a tripod head.
The plate is machined in the U.S. from 6061 T6 aluminum, and it includes a stainless steel Allen screw for attaching it to the camera. Two additional screws serve as safety stops; in case the clamp is inadvertently left loose, the smaller screws will help stop the camera & plate from sliding all the way off the head.
The PZ-146 plate features a sensor-centering line on the side. Two Allen keys are included with the camera plate.

Comments about Kirk PZ-146 Camera Plate for Nikon D800 and D800E Cameras:
What can I say? This is used to attach the camera to a Swiss Arca type clamp which is attached to your monopod/tripod/off camera flash bracket etc. I resent the expense but "ya gotta have it" and kirk is top quality at the lowest price

Comments about Kirk PZ-146 Camera Plate for Nikon D800 and D800E Cameras:
I use this plate with my Nikon D800 and an Arca-Swiss Monoball Z1 dp ball head. The plate comes with two small screws on either side. The intention of these screws is to prevent the plate and camera from accidentally slide out and drop. Well, for this ball head the screw are too small (it might work on other manufacturers heads). However, there is a solution. Fortunately the plate features also a 1/4"-20 thread. You can put a bolt in this tapped hole, just cut it to the proper length. The bolt head is large enough. It slides between two pins in the Arca-Swiss and prevent the plate and camera from accidentally sliding out. I wish Kirk would include such a screw. Other than this I'm happy with my purchase.

Comments about Kirk PZ-146 Camera Plate for Nikon D800 and D800E Cameras:
The PZ-146 fits my D800E snugly and works well with the ballhead on my equally well-made tripod. Kirk products are well-designed. The finish is very smooth which underscores the quality that goes into the manufacturing of their products. Buy Kirk!

Fit and finish are very good on this plate, and it is contoured to fit the D800 nicely. The plate provides a solid mounting for arca-swiss style clamps

Comments about Kirk PZ-146 Camera Plate for Nikon D800 and D800E Cameras:
I really love this plate as it allows me to use my Arca-Swiss ballheads natively with my d800. The quality is very good, fit is very good, weight is manageable. I was lacking this kind of support for my shorter lenses (the ones w/o tripod collar, i.e. Nikkor 24-70/2.8) and was using one of the universal Arca-Swiss plates from Wimberley - though that was very bulky. So in one word... excellent product:)

Does what is supposed to do. Well made and it fits the D800 body like a glove. Very satisfied. Better than my old Kirk plate.

Comments about Kirk PZ-146 Camera Plate for Nikon D800 and D800E Cameras:
Bought it from B&H rather than Kirk because the shipping cost was less. Six hours after placing order got email offer from Kirk for free shipping, so it cost me more than need be. A lot of money for a little piece of metal, but well made. Fits the D800 perfectly. I use both stops as I sure don't want my $3K body hitting the ground with a $2K lens on it.
