Meet the Motorola Roadster 2 Universal Bluetooth In-Car Speakerphone, your new on-road personal assistant. First off, this 2-watt speaker allows you to have hands-free conversations -- this should make it easier to keep your eyes on the road and drive safely. By downloading an app, you can have your texts read aloud and craft responses using voice commands, as well as see who's calling you. Another app keeps track of where you parked in order to easily find your car again. This could prove handy when parking in malls or other areas with large parking lots. With support for Bluetooth A2DP, the Roadster 2 makes it possible to stream audio through the speaker or your car stereo. Of course, clear sound is ensured. The Roadster 2 features CrystalTalk technology, which blocks out background noise so you can always make yourself heard loud and clear. Additionally, this handy device has one more smart feature: it automatically turns on and off, so the battery will last longer.

Streaming Audio
Listen to calls or stream music through the 2-watt speaker or through the speakers in your car using the FM transmitter
My MotoSpeak App
Download the free My MotoSpeak app and listen to incoming text messages read aloud, then use voice commands to respond or initiate texts. Also receive caller ID and important battery and call status voice alerts
Car Finder App
The Car Finder app automatically marks your car's GPS location when you disconnect from Roadster 2 and gives audible and visual directions back to where you parked. Or, you can snap a photo of your location for a visual reminder if you don't have a GPS navigation device
CrystalTalk Technology
The speakerphone's Dual Microphone Noise Cancellation and Echo Control settings work together to block out background noise when you're in the car
Auto On/Off
The Roadster 2 turns on and connects with your phone when you enter your car. It also turns off all on its own, which helps to conserve battery life
Noise Reduction 8.5 dB
Battery Type Rechargeable
Standby Time Up to 3 weeks
Talk Time Up to 20 hours

First off, let me say that I've been using LF FM transmitters for years to listen to dowloaded podcasts during my travels. The Roadster2 and my SIII allowed me to "cut the cords" and go totally wireless...and it was a breeze. First, I wanted to address a couple of the reviews that said that they had to constantly adjust to find a clear chanel. I have never found this to be the case. I frequently travel through WV to Pittsburgh for buisness. Using my old "cigarettel lighter" FM transmitter, I would usually have to change frequencies two to three times around greater Pittsburgh. Using the Roadster 2, tuning to the same "base" FM frequency that I used on the plug in models, I have yet had to scan for a clear chanel. And that frequency has a Pittsburgh station broadcasting on it!

Music/Podcasts/Phone calls are streamed clearly through the car speakers. Folks on the other end said it sounds clear as a bell, even at hwy speeds!

Syncs well with Samsung S voice, or use the Motorola "Motospeak" software. I actually find the motorola software makes fewer mistakes when using voice to text than the native software.

Pairs easily too, turn on Bluetooth after initial pairing and it always syncs up within 2-3 seconds.

You have the option of hearing everything through the 2W speaker, or through your FM radio. My only complaint, and it is minor, is that after the unit automatically shuts off (when you leave car), you need to hit the FM mode button each time to turn the FM transmitter on. Like I said, no biggie.

Well, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt.Nice volume on the speaker, functions well when it connects. If I move away from the speaker, and return, it will not connect. Turning the power switch on/off will not power up the unit. Very annoying problem. Very clear sound to listen to calls, but speaking to a person is another story. I even parked my vehicle, turned off the engine, called my office voicemail-box and left a message. When i got back to my office I listen through my office phone headset, all I could hear is a faint voice with background noise. Tried holding it, tilting, change angles...found the best position still yielded a poor quality that most of my callers could not understand me. I started to use this for listening only, but the reoccuring problem of leave the area and returning with out reconnecting is trouble some. I have to plug in the usb power cord, unplug then try to cycle the power switch on the device. Sometimes it would power up, other times it would do noting. Battery levei is High, fully charged. The only sure fire way that it will work is turning off the power switch when i leave, and power up when i return...so much for auto off/connect feature.Had a roadster 1 and it was way worst than the roadster 2. [$]for an aux speaker and an occational speaker phone seems a little pricey for me. Disappointed in the lack of reliability, well constructed. Would like to return product.

Comments about Motorola Roadster 2 Universal Bluetooth In-Car Speakerphone:

I use this on my hour work commutes and really like being able to text and call people hands free. I also use it to listen to audiobooks from my phone.

The Motospeak app has some issues, sometimes mangling word recognition pretty badly, and it doesn't how to handle common "non-standard" English pronunciations. I don't know if this is a hardware or software issue, but it sometimes has trouble hearing or recognizing what I'm saying even with windows closed. It generally gets the job done though, even if I occasionally have to yell at it.

The speaker volume varies wildly, with phone calls generally being ok, but playing audiobooks at max volume sometimes isn't high enough. Playing to radio via the FM function fixes the volume problem, but adds unpredictable static.

So it could use some improvement in a bunch of areas, and it's not exactly an audiophile product, but if works pretty well.

Comments about Motorola Roadster 2 Universal Bluetooth In-Car Speakerphone:

I have a Motorolo Razr HD and wanted to replace a wired headset that I used for driving. I like four things about this Bluetooth car kit -- all in one unit. 1) Easy pairing. 2) Don't have to turn it off when leaving the car. 3) Optional voice commands and text messaging audio features. 4) Automatically captures location of my car whenever I get out, using GPS in my phone. Only slightly weak point is the internal microphone quality isn't great, but just one person I frequently call complained. All others hear me just fine. If Motorolo improved the microphone by 10%, this unit would be perfect.

The bluetooth pairing was super-simple. Voice prompts for FM mode and battery life are useful and to-the-point, and voice answering/dialing provide a truly hands-free usage. And the sound clarity is the best I've heard from any bluetooth device I've ever used. So good I purchased a second one for my girlfriend to replace her "integrated" aftermarket BT device due to its flakiness. I highly recommend this product

Comments about Motorola Roadster 2 Universal Bluetooth In-Car Speakerphone:

This is my second Motorola Roadster. I bought my first one 4 years ago and it worked so well that when it died I replaced it with the new model. The overall sound and speaker quality is good. My calls are clear and the person I'm talking to never complains of background noise. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because there is an app (MotoSpeak) which provides additional feathers and functionality however there's no iOS version.

Comments about Motorola Roadster 2 Universal Bluetooth In-Car Speakerphone:

I have the older version Motorola T505 in my car and got this one for my wife. this is the updated version, and Motorola did well with its improvements. The device is less cryptic as far as buttons, easier to use, and has really goo sound quality, at least as bluetooth devices go. It can handle two devices at once, re-connects well when you get in the car, and allows you to manually specify which FM station you want to transmit to. The 505 did none of these things well.

Comments about Motorola Roadster 2 Universal Bluetooth In-Car Speakerphone:

I use this in two vehicles. One is a new quiet sedan, the other is a 1980 Suburban farm truck (translation: noisy!) This speakerphone works well in both vehicles, even with open windows at 45 mph! The microphone seems better than the speaker, sometimes I decide to roll the window up so I can hear better (but my hearing is not good to begin with- this could just be me) but I have never had a caller ask me to do so.
I love that it sleeps and then automatically wakes up and connects to my phone when I slam the car door. The battery life is great. Sound quality is pretty good, but noise cancellation seems really solid.
The areas that motorola could improve, in my opinion:
                      1. Better iPhone support. It works great with my iPhone, but Droid users enjoy some extra features via an App they offer.
                      2. It occasionally does not connect immediately to my phone, and occasionally disconnects and reconnects. To be fair, my phone is old and abused...it could be an intermittent problem with the phone.
                      3. In my VERY limited toying with the radio feature, I found the sound quality to be poor for music and not enough improvement for calls to justify using it. I am not in a terribly crowded radio environment (Jacksonville, FL). I might get better results if I tinkered with it, but it really doesn't matter to me.

Overall i am extremely pleased with this product, and even bought a second one for my tech challeneged mother. She figured it out pretty quickly.

Comments about Motorola Roadster 2 Universal Bluetooth In-Car Speakerphone:

Overall, I like the Roadster 2 a lot. The speakerphone quality for both sides of the conversation seems to be great. Battery life is also great so far - I like that I can just leave the Roadster on all the time and it wakes up when my phone comes back into range. On the downside, I wasn't able to get the music over FM function to work very well; it tunes in, but no matter what frequency I set it to, I always hear a faint underlying layer of static as if the station isn't quite tuned in all the way.

Comments about Motorola Roadster 2 Universal Bluetooth In-Car Speakerphone:

Use Roadster 2 to avoid manually answering cell phone while driving. The concept of answering and using the radio is great but gas flaws.
The bluetooth intermittently cut on and off with the annoying announcer constantly telling you, and the voice dialer does not work without manually turning the feature on the phone each time to make a call.

Comments about Motorola Roadster 2 Universal Bluetooth In-Car Speakerphone:

Comments about Motorola Roadster 2 Universal Bluetooth In-Car Speakerphone:

My Dad purchased the Motorola Roadster 2 (B&H# MOR2CK) and gave it to me as a gift for Christmas. After about 2 weeks of testing this product, I have determined that it is not working as advertised and will be returning this product for a full refund. My main complaint is that there is too much FM interference when using the Roadster 2's FM mode on my drive to work (as I take the expressway every day passing through downtown Tampa, FL in the middle of my 40 minute commute). Even fairly quiet/low static FM stations have a big negative impact on the quality of the connection between Roadster 2 and my CD receiver.

As a result, playing music from my smartphone through the Bluetooth connection, through the Roadster 2's FM transmitter, then back into my CD receiver sounds garbled at different "un-used/clear" frequencies on the upper and lower band of FM and at different points during my 40 minute commute to work; almost as bad as being off-tuned on a good radio station when it should be crystal clear. This in turn results in significant degradation in call quality when routing the audio of an incoming phone call over my truck's speakers through that same bluetooth/FM connection to the point where I'm trying to scan and adjust both the frequencies on the Roadster 2 and my CD receiver simultaneously at several points during in my commute (which is not the safest thing to be concentrating on) just to have clean audio during a phone call or while playing music.

Yeah sure I could use the 2watt speaker for phone calls vice my truck speakers, but it's not exactly the most powerful speaker and that's a big compromise for me when you consider the price tag for this unit. It just sounded cool to have the ability to play music from your smartphone/Bluetooth enabled music player over your truck speakers and then the moment you have an incoming phone call, it would automatically silence the music and connect you to the person calling, play the audio over your vehicle's speakers, then resume music playback when you hung up the call…all without pressing a single button. The fact that I can't find a good clear un-utilized FM frequency during my commute makes this feature useless and effectively downgrades it to nothing more than an oversized Bluetooth in/over ear headset.

Sidenote: Read the other reviews and I never had a problem with pairing automatically while leaving the Roadster 2 on. The auto-connect/disconnect was a cool feature that worked seamlessly.

I use it to play music on my phone through the car's stero system and to talk to people.

Audio is choppy and cuts out continuiously. Might work better if I could find a frequency not being used by a radio station.
