The XJ-A246 Slim DLP Projector from Casio is 1.6 inches (4 cm) thick and only weighs 5 pounds (2.3kg). The projector is likely to log a lot of travel miles as well as becoming your go-to solution for on-the-fly presentations. Slim technology cuts costs as well as the time and effort involved in lamp exchange while maintaining clear, high-quality images over an extended period. That means less lamp replacement expense, less downtime and since it's mercury-free, less of an impact on the environment.

The LED / laser hybrid light source produces 2500 lumens of output, (enough to meet the challenge of high ambient light situations), for up to 20,000 hours. The built-in power focus and 2x zoom lens facilitate sizing up crisp, high-resolution (1280 x 800) images on screens up to 300" (7.6 m) diagonal, while wide connectivity options, including HDMI and audio output, ensure functionality with source components.

HDMI x 1
A built-in HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) input provides a direct digital input and allows connectivity with many widescreen notebooks now shipping with HDMI outputs. Compatible with HD video formats, HD video sources including Blu-ray players, cable converter boxes and gaming systems can be connected to the slim projector
Automatic Brightness Adjustment
The automatic brightness adjustment, which adjusts lumen output based on the level of ambient light in the room, saves power, which saves money (and saves you from eye strain as well)
2x Optical Zoom
Whether you are in a small office or a large boardroom the 2x power zoom lens gives you the flexibility to easily position the projector
WXGA Resolution
The native WXGA (1280 X 800) resolution of the slim projector allows for optimal viewing of content created and formatted for today's widescreen displays. Whether it is viewing a spreadsheet or two applications side by side, the WXGA slim projector provides more useable screen area and displays more information on the same screen. Widescreen display formats have become the standard and now your projector can match the widescreen display of notebook PC's and HD video sources
Cost Effective
Compared with conventional high brightness projectors employing mercury lamps, slim technology cuts costs as well as the time and effort involved in lamp exchange while maintain clear, high-quality images over an extended period. The lamp free design is backed by a comprehensive 3-year warranty including the light source; users can expect reliable worry free operation from the slim projectors
Superior Color, High Brightness
The projector delivers a 50 percent increase in color spectrum for high impact presentations due to improvements in LED and laser technology. Superior color reproduction enhances color purity allowing visual effects to appear brighter and offering powerful images that conventional projectors cannot match
Mercury Free Light Source
Provides 10x longer light source life than Casio mercury lamp while being more economical based on lamp replacement. The Slim projector features quick startup and shutdown. The projector reaches its maximum brightness in a minimum of eight seconds and requires no cooling down period - an advantage for keeping presentations focused and smooth
Hybrid Light Engine
By combining a laser, a fluorescent element and an LED, Casio has created an original mercury-free hybrid light source capable of generating high brightness. Casio has achieved high brightness output of green light, which until now, has been considered difficult with conventional semiconductor light sources, by efficiently converting blue laser light into green light using a fluorescent element

Comments about Casio XJ-A246 Slim DLP Projector:

      Casio Data PROJECTOR XJ-A246

When I was stationed in Iraq as a procurement officer, one of the items I purchased for military units were projector bulbs. The projectors were nicknamed "one eye" but when the bulb burned out they were pretty much useless. The soldiers would take care of the projector letting them cool off with the fan from the projector so the bulbs would be able to stay cool , but running on generators did not as afford that luxury. I know when giving a briefing it is embarrassing when the bulb burns out when the commanding officer is giving his presentation.

I was surprised to find out that Casio makes a line of projectors called the Green Slim which use a laser and LED to project a image instead of a bulb. The picture is very clear with no distortion. I recently let me 17 year son Michael set up a "Green Slim" in the backyard to watch a movie on a white sheet instead of a screen. He and his friends quickly set it up and with the automatic 'KEY" corrected the picture. If you never used a projector you want the picture to have four 90 degree corners otherwise your image will be distorted. The Casio projector does that automatically and quickly.

Casio projector A246 is easily connected to a DVD, VCR, computer or any other device that sends a video out. There is also a HDMI input which my son used to connect. There is sound on the projector but you may want to add additional speakers depending on your audience and setting.

The CD that comes with the software has several programs: Wireless connect 3, EZ converter, software for converting power point slides and movie files into a form to play on the projector. The reason you would want to convert your files is that you can save them on a USB device and then plug it into the projector. With this conversion you don't need to bring a laptop or other device into the conference room.

The wireless connection Software 3 is a feature that allows you to connect a wireless device like a smart phone or a laptop to the projector. The Casio A246 projector then becomes access point. I was unable to get my newer laptop to connect. My theory is I am using a 64 bit version of Windows 7. However my old laptop which runs on XP with Service Pack 2 connected easily. I also had a minor problem was with my antivirus protection which kept asking if it was okay to connect. Once, I was connected it was amazing to see the same image on my desktop was also displayed by my projector. The projector allows up to four wireless devices to be connected at one time which then divides the screen into four sections.. This would be useful for a conference and running a Operation Center. What a cool way to impress the boss by showing four different people's presentations at the same time.
What was remarkable was that I had the ability to see the imagine on my laptop as well as a projected image. I was unable to display both imagines when I used a HDMI connection. My laptop graphics card adapter was unable to display two images at once.

My next big test is to try it out on a fund raiser with over 100 people who are coming to see a film projected on the screen/ The projector is light weight 2.1 pounds and small size 11.7 x 1.7 x 8.3 inches. T I have not yet tried out all the many capabilities of the Casio Projector A246 unit yet but it is pretty extensive in its capabilities.
