The orange/light gray Flipside Sport 15L AW Backpack from Lowepro is a lightweight technical daypack for the outdoor shooter who needs to carry his gear in rough venues while maintaining the ability to gain rapid access to it. This pack allows you to pack your pro DSLR with grip and up to a 300mm f/2.8 lens attached making it a great choice for the nature or sports photographer. It will also accommodate an extra 1-3 lenses or flashes as well as your tripod or monopod. Plus, since Lowepro understands that remote locations don't often have water fountains available, the pack will hold an optional 1 liter hydration reservoir.

The Flipside 15L is made from a tough combination of nylons and polyurethane and will stand up to moisture well with its exterior silicon waterproof coating. For extreme foul weather, the Flipside comes with a rapidly deployable all-weather cover. If you're a mountaineer, it will also hold your ice axe or trekking poles. It's also a fast access pack with side access openings that eliminate the need to remove the entire pack to retrieve your camera and lens. The pack contains a handy, removable and adjustable camera compartment that gives you the freedom to pre-pack your gear and remove it when you want all your gear in front of you for a shoot. The padded dividers keep your gear safe and nestled within their own configured compartments. This removable compartment contains a handy storm flap to protect it from the elements you will inevitably come up against.

The waist belt gives you the option to slip out of the shoulder straps and let the pack unfold in front of you so you have complete access to the pack's contents without removing it. This feature resembles having a table set out in front of you. The shoulder straps are wide and adjustable and supported by an additional sternum strap that provides additional balance while hiking. They contain perforated and breathable air channels for heat dissipation all designed for maximum comfort while outside. Multiple adjustment points on the pack assure an ergonomic, feel good fit.

Nature shooters will appreciate the secure side attachment system that holds your tripod, held by a wide flap with buckles.  For small accessories, the back panel has a zippered pocket. Speaking of zippers, they all have long pull tabs that are easy to use when you are wearing gloves. The Flipside 15L is backed by Lowepro's standing lifetime warranty.

Adjustable waist belt and shoulder straps. Have total access to your equipment without removing the backpack by slipping off shoulder straps with the waist belt still fastened, and bring the pack in front of you

This is a well made pack and makes carrying a minimal amount of gear during active pursuits a pleasure.

I carry a 5DIII with either 70-200/4 or 300/4 attached inside with room for a 24-105/4, 580EX flash, a filter wallet and a small bag with cards. pocket wizards and batteries.

I use the zippered pocket for the water reservoir to keep maps, pocket knife, sunglasses and sundry items in. It is quite roomy and you could put a light jacket or shell in there. This pocket could hold another flash or a lens as big as the 70-200/4 in there if needed. Note: there is a unzippered opening at the top of this pocket so stray water, snow, etc. could get in so I would keep that in mind.

The venting in the straps and the back panel works well. I have gone running and hiking and the build up of heat on the back has not been noticeable. The straps are comfortable (I am 6'0 and have a 45 inch chest) and have nice adjustment (including for the location of the chest strap; my wife particularly appreciated that when she tried on the pack). The waist strap is high on me and sits between my rib cage and my waist. It is not load bearing in any appreciable manner but with a small kit, this is not a problem in my experience. The waist strap works well to hold the pack when you unsling it and slide the pack around to the front so you can access the gear via the back panel. That functionality works very well overall and does allow for quick access to and putaway of the gear.

The pack is shorter than I had visualized it which has the benefit of allowing me to wear my photography gear belt without the two items butting up against one another as I shoot, hike and move around in general. If you use a belt like the Lowepro S&F belts or the Think Tank Modular belts, this may be a nice benefit to you.

The tripod carrying flap is not bad. A full size tripod (like the Gitzo 3541LS can be fit but I don't like the unbalanced feel of having that weight on one side - the lack of a true waistbelt hurts this capability in my opinion. However, I do like carrying my lighter tripod or my monopod in this manner.

In summary, this doesn't replace my main pack which stores most of my gear nor does it replace my really light street shooting setup. It does fit my requirements for traveling, sports and general moving around the backcountry (be it skiing, hiking, trail running, etc.). Very good at what it is designed to do.

This is not quite as great as I had hoped it would be. I like the size and weight, which is ideal for hiking or biking. But the major downside is the lack of storage compartments on the exterior for personal items... i.e. rain jacket, gloves, snacks, or other small camera items like memory cards or extra batteries. The main storage compartment for camera, lenses and accessories is more than large enough, which is nice, but it would be great to be able to access some small items without unzipping the large back panel. The hydration/camelbak compartment is a convenient feature, but offers the only exterior storage compartment. So you're pretty much forced to choose between hydration or a place to keep your phone, wallet, granola bar, field notebook, gloves, and the like. I would suggest to Lowepro: add a top compartment, accessible from the outside with a zipper, in which you can store smaller items like those I've mentioned. I could easily stand to lose a little bit of space inside, as I only carry my camera body (Nikon D5200) with attached lens, two extra lenses, and a flash on this type of excursion. The interior has more space than I can fill up with these things, and it's too large to conveniently hold the smaller items like extra batteries and memory cards. If you're carrying enough gear on your back to fill up the large camera/lens compartments, you are most likely in need of a bigger bag anyway. So I'm a little bit disappointed in this pack, and I thought it would be a better fit for the all-around outdoors enthusiast. It is still a decent value, and you can't find much better for less than $. It is built solidly and I have no problems with it's field-worthiness. But the main compartment is too large, is disproportionate to the size of the daypack, and comes at the expense of being able to carry other normal hiking gear. If your ONLY purpose for being in the outdoors is photography, than this might be a great pack for you. If you spend a lot of time in the outdoors for a plethora of reasons, happen to love taking pictures, and need room to store extra clothing and food for your hikes (like me), then this may not be the best option for you. I'm not sure if I'll keep it yet.

Comments about Flipside Sport 15L AW Daypack (Blue/Light Gray):

This is an inexpensive, high quality, camera bag. After trying several bags with no success, I stumbled across this bag that works perfect! I can fit 2 lenses (55-300, and 18-140mm Nikor lenses), my Nikon D7100 with my Tamron 150-600mm lens, and has room for one more lens.

      Very nice camera backpack

Comments about Flipside Sport 15L AW Daypack (Blue/Light Gray):

I primarily carry the SonyA7 and 3 lenses, including the 70-200 and this bag is perfect for it. The straps and padding are very comfortable and quality is very good. The tripod holder is quite nice, but mainly for smaller compact tripods. I stick my manfrotto190 in there and it protrudes but its ok. Highly recommended especially for compact/ mirrorless systems.

Comments about Flipside Sport 15L AW Daypack (Blue/Light Gray):

Very good design, practical, solid build and comfortable to carry. I have own a lot of similar size camera bags like Lowepro Classified 250 AW, too big, Retrospective 30 by Thinktank, too heavy and priced too high, not comfortable to carry. This is the best bag comparing to what I have got though a little bid hard to get things out, but acceptable.

      Very Comfortable, High Quality

Comments about Flipside Sport 15L AW Daypack (Blue/Light Gray):

The Flipside works better than I expected and the pack is very comfortable. Top notch quality materials and construction. It fits my D7000 with 70-300 lens, 18-110 lens, 35 mm fixed lens, spare battery and charger with room left for another lens or rolled up long sleeve shirt. With all this it feels really light on the back. The hydration sleeve is relatively small. A 1 liter CamelBack bladder fits perfectly. Anything larger is tight. I love this bag.

I bought it last year. But I had to replace it as this bag does not have enough useful compartment. The compartment inside the bag was too deep and too tight. It was hard to fish for small things. As the zipper of the side pocket was designed to open sideway, all items would fall out if I had to dig deep. There was no pocket to hold water bottle either.
The bag itself is not small, yet it is not practical.

It is exactly what I needed for my gears. Everything is safely stashed away with all the shock-absorbing padding around my delicate items. What attracted me to this model is back opening zipper which provides me protection against robbers, who would open a front opening camera backpack easily and reach into the contents. Which was a sad part in my numerous travels around the world. With this Daypack, I feel confident that my camera and accessories are intact and safe. I would definitely recommended this to my friends.

I wanted a bag I could conveniently carry my Sigma 120-300 2.8 Sport, a body and at least one other smaller lens. This bag fits the bill and then some. This bag fits the 120-300 2.8, my D810 with grip and another lens. I will probably carry the Nikon 24-70 2.8. I also have enough room for extra memory cards, and cleaning supplies. This bag also features a water bladder pocket. The description states 1 liter, but I can fit the 1.5 liter camel back with ease. The pack will also carry a travel tripod but I am going to use that storage for my monopod. This is a great case with not much bulk. This will keep me satisfied for an extended time out shooting auto racing.

It is light and fits my Toyo 4x5 camera, Canon 5D Mark II with a 28mm fixed lens and still has room for the extra battery another fixed lens, battery charger and memory cards. The rain protector is the best feature I have ever seen on a camera bag and works perfectly (I was out in torrential rain and nothing inside the bag got wet). Also the fact that the bag opens form the back keeps the bag pickpocket safe which is another great feature while traveling. BEST BAG EVER!!!!

No matter which bags I looked at, in store or online, I always came back to this one because of the value of it. You get a lot for the money! Thus far, it has fulfilled the need to have something comfortable to carry around all of my camera gear. This pack has plenty of room in it for my most important lenses, however you do have to make the choice about which lenses you are running with that day, as it runs out of space fast. Right now I have my Pentax K50 with a Sigma 17-70c on the body, along with my 100mm F4 Macro, my Pentax DA 50-300mm, and my 18-55 kit lens, as well as the camera battery charger, a bulb air lens cleaner, and several filters....and the bag is not HUGE at the same time.....A great accomplishment on its own.
Anything more than this bag, and you will be carting around way too much gear, and it will be too heavy to have on your shoulders all day. Besides the comfortable shoulder straps, it also has a chest harness, as well as a waist harness to keep the bag balanced should you be carrying a lot of gear. This bag is very comfortable to lug around all day. They have cooling mesh in the back that allows air to get into the shoulder straps, and back of the bag.....very nice design. This bag also has a water proof spot to carry a camelback water pack, which i think is a great idea. I also carry my tripod very securely on the side....another nice design cue. I also LOVE the color. Many people will get a black bag, which honestly I think is a HUGE mistake.....Mistake in that you cant keep your eye on your bag from a distance. My last camera bag, I found that I was always scanning the area for where I left it, and was worried about it because so many people have blag bags....The orange color not only helps in this regard, but it also keeps your gear a lot cooler when you are without shade. My black bag used to heat up so much! Also, the bag is water resistant, not completely waterproof, of course for that you have a built in plastic covering that is hidden in the base that surrounds the bag in the event you cant avoid rain, you are protected. Anyway, this bag has been great so far. I have carried it around all day on quite a few trips already with no real concerning drawbacks to speak of.

                      What I dont like:
I would've loved to have an easy access zipper opening so that i can quickly grab my camera and start shooting. This doesn't have one of those. That is about the only flaw I have found with this particular bag. How do you eliminate that negative? You can unsnap the chest harness, and leave the waist harness on.....spin the bag around so that the bag is in front of you. Bam, now you dont have to use a table to rest your bag on......it holds itself up on your waist....I do like that feature, and people usually make jealous comments about how their wish their bag had that feature. Speaking on that front, the straps for the harnesses are easily adjustable with a unique loosening and tightening system which I happen to really like. All in all, a lot of thought went into this bag, and I really appreciate that fact.

So that about wraps things up......This is an excellent bag, where although initially thought to be expensive, to be proven wrong by the value of all of its features....I think you will feel the same way too! This bag is awesome! Get one!

This is a good general camera day pack. Only real complaint would be some additional pockets to hold filters.

The Flipside 15L AW Daypack is really awesome for your day hikes. I've read reviews that it is not large enough. As a rookie photographer, it works out great as I go hiking. I can fit the camera with telephoto lens attached, an additional lens (or two if no flash packed)and my extra battery, user manuals, sd cards, cleaning kit and also a plus: my tripod! There is room to include your drivers license if needed as well as a credit card or two. This pack also has an inclement weather cover included. There is also a pouch for a 1iter water bladder. What more could you want while day hiking? Love the Lowepro 15L AW Daypack!

Great bag so far. It holds my Canon 5D, a couple of lenses, and a full size flash inside, along with some other accessories on the side. I haven't used it much yet, but so far it's pretty comfortable and suites my need for a variety of lenses while still remaining highly mobile. I also really like how secure and discrete it is. I'll mainly be using it for personal trips exploring; not jobs, since there's no room for back up gear. Don't plan on carrying a ton of extra stuff besides camera gear.

Used for travel, and daily use. Very comfortable w/ 2x telephoto, 2.8f 70-200, 18x105, 35mm prime lenses, tripod and a few accessories. I have been through 4 Lowepro bags trying to find the best. Only drawback is the pocket layout and design. Once improved this would be the best bag on the market.

I was looking for a pack that was easy to carry and would hold my DSLR with its telephoto lens attached. We do a lot of hiking in the woods and I want to be ready when wildlife comes into view. It has nicely padded compartments to hold my gear and can be easily adjusted to fit my lenses, filters and small accessories. I was impressed by the quality materials and sturdy construction; this pack is large enough to hold my necessary gear.

I first purchased the 20L and found it too large with more compartments that I needed and excess depth. I then bought the 10L and found it too small. It was really small and things were too tight. My 5D with an attached
Black Rapid strap would barely fit inside and my Gitzo Traveler tripod would not fit into the tripod carrier.
This 15L was just right (like the story of the three bears). I recently took it on a trip with my 5D and attached 24-70 lens, tripod, 600 EX flash and extra lens (16-35). I had extra room for my black rapid strap, power bars and lens cleaning equipment. I think this is the pack size is right for 90% of users.
