The orange/light gray Flipside Sport 15L AW Backpack from Lowepro is a lightweight technical daypack for the outdoor shooter who needs to carry his gear in rough venues while maintaining the ability to gain rapid access to it. This pack allows you to pack your pro DSLR with grip and up to a 300mm f/2.8 lens attached making it a great choice for the nature or sports photographer. It will also accommodate an extra 1-3 lenses or flashes as well as your tripod or monopod. Plus, since Lowepro understands that remote locations don't often have water fountains available, the pack will hold an optional 1 liter hydration reservoir.
The Flipside 15L is made from a tough combination of nylons and polyurethane and will stand up to moisture well with its exterior silicon waterproof coating. For extreme foul weather, the Flipside comes with a rapidly deployable all-weather cover. If you're a mountaineer, it will also hold your ice axe or trekking poles. It's also a fast access pack with side access openings that eliminate the need to remove the entire pack to retrieve your camera and lens. The pack contains a handy, removable and adjustable camera compartment that gives you the freedom to pre-pack your gear and remove it when you want all your gear in front of you for a shoot. The padded dividers keep your gear safe and nestled within their own configured compartments. This removable compartment contains a handy storm flap to protect it from the elements you will inevitably come up against.
The waist belt gives you the option to slip out of the shoulder straps and let the pack unfold in front of you so you have complete access to the pack's contents without removing it. This feature resembles having a table set out in front of you. The shoulder straps are wide and adjustable and supported by an additional sternum strap that provides additional balance while hiking. They contain perforated and breathable air channels for heat dissipation all designed for maximum comfort while outside. Multiple adjustment points on the pack assure an ergonomic, feel good fit.
Nature shooters will appreciate the secure side attachment system that holds your tripod, held by a wide flap with buckles. For small accessories, the back panel has a zippered pocket. Speaking of zippers, they all have long pull tabs that are easy to use when you are wearing gloves. The Flipside 15L is backed by Lowepro's standing lifetime warranty.

Love this product – product did not come with soft pack water bottle and I am having a hard time finding water bottle. It seems no is carrying it. The camera bag is excellent - has every feature I was looking for and I am very pleased with it.

Comments about Lowepro Flipside Sport 15L AW Daypack (Orange/Light Gray):
After reading some of the pre-existing comments I was sold on this backpack. After receiving the pack and putting it to use, I'm doubly sold.
I live in the woods and frequently head out taking pictures. Even yesterday I was hiking and got into some thick cover and was just tickled that the pack is so streamlined that with the absence of zippers, pulls, etc. on the exterior of the pack, I was able to wiggle through some tight spots without getting hung up.
I use a Nikon D300s with battery grip, 70-200 f2.8, 35 prime, 11-16 f2.8, and a speedlight--all of this fits perfectly. I am especially pleased with the one-hand zipper operation and the placement of the zipper panel is brilliant. All you need to do is take the pack off, set it down and fold the shoulder straps out of the way to access the zipper panel. I don't think accessing your gear is an option unless you have a spot to set the pack down. I love the tripod storage too. Having the fabric flaps to fold over the tripod is just another great way to keep from getting hung up on limbs, brush, or whatever.
Only one complaint: no pocket or compartment for small accessories or memory cards. Everything else is very well thought out and very well constructed. The pack rides comfortably despite the absence of a substantial waist belt.

Comments about Lowepro Flipside Sport 15L AW Daypack (Orange/Light Gray):
I wanted a mid-sized, fairly light bag that was capable of storing and carrying all my gear, including my Canon 60d, speedlight 580 ex II, speedlight 270 ex II, 24-70 f2.8 lens, 70-200 f2.8 lens, and Gay Fong diffuser. Amazingly, it all fit--just barely--after I reversed both lens hoods. Love the padding and the zippers. Still getting used to turning my bag around to access everything, but I can see the merit in having it open this way. Agree with other reviews about the cheap waist strap, but this makes it an option, meaning I don't have to use it. Wish it had a few more pouches for memory cards and such...still can't figure out why there isn't a front pocket. Overall, very pleased with my purchase.

Very light, carries just right amount of lenses for short outings. Wish the side pocket for the hydration bladder and another pocket for uses other than a hydration bladder.

Comments about Lowepro Flipside Sport 15L AW Daypack (Orange/Light Gray):
Holds all my gear. Full size SLR, grip, 3 lenses, add'l room for flash or binocs, water bottle, lite jacket etc. Light weight and easy to lug around. Replaced Lowepro Compurover which was bigger and heavier. A few more small pockets would be helpful and redesign of the tripod slot for more uses, (such as a mesh pocket the whole length to stuff a jacket in). But overall a really good pack.

My Manfrotto 055MF3 tripod with WImberly Sidekick, strapped to the side of this pack, doesn't move and I don't even know it's there. My 5d3 and 300/2.8 with a 1.4TC fits in the compartment and there's room for my 16-35/2.8 and remote release. I haven't tried the 1L water bladder storage compartment yet but I'll bet it will handle my Geigerrig (filled to 1L). The pack is not large, fits between the middle seats of our van, and makes carrying the big lens and tripod effortless. I have no issues with the shoulder straps or waist belt but I've only taken a few short hikes with it so far. I walked around a mountain lake last weekend with a wide lens on my camera (in my hand). People started talking about moose ahead on the trail. I was very happy that I had brought along the big lens and tripod in this pack. When not needed they were no trouble. The pack makes transporting the camera, big lens, and tripod on my motorcycle or bicycle easy too. My only complaint is in the thickness/durability of the orange fabric. I took the pack to work, planning to use the camera afterwork. It was in the house, through the garage, in the car, then in my room at work. When I looked at it I had a 3" vertical rip down the front. I have no idea where that came from. I patched it with gray duct tape (matching the pack's Orange/Light Gray coloring). A friend at work, a former photo journalist, has an older Lowepro pack and I'm pretty sure you would have trouble puncturing it with a pocket knife. This pack's outer skin is a joke by comparison. Call it a light-duty pack. It works, but don't get near any jagged old stubs sticking off trees, or thorns, etc.

Comments about Lowepro Flipside Sport 15L AW Daypack (Orange/Light Gray):
Was tired of packs that weigh a lot and have cumbersome belts. This pack is very light weight and waist belt is comfortable, although it will not provide the support of the cumbersome belts. Keep in mind this is a day pack.I use it for day trips in the City, where it draws less attention as it looks less "photographic" than other packs: and also to local nature preserves where the orange color keeps me from getting shot in the Fall. With a little work and rearranging of the inserts I am able to fit the following without doing damage taking gear in and out: Nikon D700 w/grip and 24-70 attachedNikon 24mm pc in wrapZeiss 50mm and 100mm, both wrappedTwo 77mm ND's and two 67mm ND's, cable releaseIn the side pocket SB-800 flash with extra batteriesstrapped in on the other side small Induro tripod with small Kirk head. Water bottle and GPS clip to the pack easilyOnly gets 4 stars because I had to use other velcro inserts from an older pack which fit better and allowed for a better configuration, and I still don't trust the rain covers, so I still carry a large garbage bag.
