Comments about JVC GY-HM650 ProHD Mobile News Camera:

I've used this camera for 6 months now and I'm still amazed by how rich the images are once you dial this camera in. Full-Auto Mode is also very, very good. I typically shoot manual for all of my productions though.

Overall...This is a Rock Solid, well made camera. Hats off to JVC for this one. The price is steap but worth the investment.

In comparison I also shoot with a SONY AX2000 and a SONY EX1R. Side by side the JVC produces a far better all around quality picture compared to both of my other cameras.
No Joke! And I really like my other cameras...

I'm amazed at the Low Light capabilities. This camera performes extremely good in low light situations. Ergonomics are very well deisgned. The dual CODEC recording is very handy and the Point to Point, full camera controll with my smart phone is awesome! No need for Wyfi...

The flip out LCD is tack sharp and I really like the simultaneous display in the viewfinder and the LCD option. The built in stereo mic is very good however I'd recommend spending $200 on a good Shotgun Mic.

The 23X Optical zoom is remarkably wide at the back end. I was pleasently surprised with this especially for weddings where I typically need a strong zoom for the ceremony but also need a "Wide" capability for the Reception. JVC gets high marks for that feature.

I have not used the realtime HD uploading to an FTP site feature as of yet but I've heard it works like a charm.

The footage from the SD cards worked great in FCP 7 and Premiere Pro CC. No problems at all editing.

I've owned many professional HD cameras over the past 10 years and I have to say that the overall quality of the video from this camera is simply beau·ti·ful, and exceeded my expectations.

I would recommend this camera to other professional videographers for sure!

Comments about JVC GY-HM650 ProHD Mobile News Camera:

First try out of the box the camera works well in low light, so it is more versatile. The three chips CMOS are better than one. I am not sure that they are better than JVC's 3 chip CCD for color intensity and feeling, but it's really too early to give a final judgement. This is probably a lower cost news camera that will work just as well on the air as their more expensive standard.
And the rebates are great! Good zoom. Sound ok. Works with Final Cut .A little hard to learn, we are still at the wi fi part. Will work great at station news and half hour show production. Built to sit on shoulder, sort, grab and go.
