The transfer rate is super duper. My Patriot EP 64GB SD-XC card now rocks at 50MB/sec. read and 35MB/sec. write. This makes finding and transferring the huge still and video files created by my Nikon D600 much less annoying. If you insert the SD card into the slot, it will read properly. But to write to it, you must slide the cover over the card. Probably a good feature (write protection), but slightly inconvenient, and I'd be glad to do without it.I had a little trouble inserting a Micro-SD card into the slot, but that may be just me, as I've never used a Micro-SD reader before, and my fumbly fingers are no longer well suited to precise tasks. The reader itself is bulky enough that it may not fit in your computer's USB 3.0 port. My HP PC has USB 3.0 ports only on the back, so I bought an extension cable. Make sure you buy a USB 3.0- specific cable!.What a world we live in- 64GB on a MicroSD card the size of your pinky nail! My first computer had only 2KB of RAM (that's KiloByte, folks, not GigaByte- a GB is one MILLION times more than a KB) and storage was only on audio cassette.

My first impression out of the package was disappointment. In fact the plastic packaging seemed more sturdy. USB plug slides out and retracts, and so does the side housing the disk. Neither operation is smooth. The construction is rather cheesy, even though it's designed to look rugged and strong. It doesn't seem like it will last very long.

Comments about Kingston MobileLite G3 USB 3.0 Card Reader:

I use MobileLite G3 for Class 10 fast reading SD cards for my DSLR to computer file transfer. It keeps up with 45MBs cards. And will do Class 8 at their speeds of 20 to 25MBs. Micro SD too.

I like that it's compact and the blue color looks cool. However, the pull over shrouds feel cheap and flimsy.

This is a great value as there are not many compact USB3 SD Card readers to choose from.

            Works great

Comments about Kingston MobileLite G3 USB 3.0 Card Reader:

I've only had this for a week so bear that in mind but so far I have no complaints. I do a lot of HD video and I record on fast SD and micro SD cards so having the USB 3 adapter really speeds up my transfer time of large files. My only complaint, and it is minor, is that it's a little too wide to be able to use the USB port next to it. There is no cable, it plugs directly into a USB 3 port. I do like that but at the sacrifice of the adjacent port. I rate it it five stars because I believe it deserves all five.

Comments about Kingston MobileLite G3 USB 3.0 Card Reader:

The less-than-precise sliding ends have been fairly well covered here. The one on the card end completely covers the cards when extended, making the unit into a protected and pocketable "thumb drive". Another review says it also serves as a write lock when not extended.

The little U-shaped notch at the top right of the "MobileLite" side sort-of exposes an activity LED, but by the time it shines through the movable cover it is too dim to notice under most light levels.

As a couple of reviews noted, it installs as two devices, even if you only have one card plugged in, and can read/write one micro card and one full size card (or adapter) simultaneously.

The good part is that it just plugged in and worked as required with every card I tried.

this thing is so light it feel cheap, but it's not -- it's well made. it's sort of odd how it has two sleeves that slide in and out on each end. i guess they do offer some protection. bottom line is, this works and works well. i've had no issues with it.

Comments about Kingston MobileLite G3 USB 3.0 Card Reader:

I bought this as an inexpensive, very portable USB 3.0 reader. It supports standard and micro SD cards without an adapter and it's fast.

The construction is obviously cheap and appears fragile. I have little confidence it stand up to any abuse.

I lost my other reader but it was only USB 2.0 and the difference using this USB 3.0 reader was incredibly fast. I shoot in RAW on a Sony A77 which has a 24 megapixel sensor so the files are quite large. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a compact USB 3.0 reader.

Comments about Kingston MobileLite G3 USB 3.0 Card Reader:

I couldn't use a new 64GB memory card on my D7100 with my old card reader. Turns out my old card reader wouldn't recognize that large a capacity. This new one cost just over $[$] and is USB 2.0 and 3.0 compatible. Also, downloading directly from the camera or PC can pose security problems for your often irreplaceable pictures, should you accidently hit the connection cord during download. A Bargain and safety too -- that's my kind of deal!

Comments about Kingston MobileLite G3 USB 3.0 Card Reader:

My experience has been that card readers are not terribly durable, regardless of brand. This one is as sturdy as any, and works straightforwardly. It would be better — in some cases, at least — if it came with a USB cord. My current computer setup doesn't have a spare USB port, and I plug card readers into a USB hub, which is behind the computer. Without a cord, that makes using this item very inconvenient, but fortunately, I've saved a couple of USB cords, and using one allows me to put the reader where I can use it conveniently.

Comments about Kingston MobileLite G3 USB 3.0 Card Reader:

MobileLite G3 is the USB 3.0 version of the USB 2.0 MobileLite G2. Not only is G3 a fast reader on USB 3.0, but G3 runs faster than G2 on USB 2.0. Sliding covers are a little wobbly, which is why it isn't 5 stars. This dual card reader mounts one SD and one uSD card at the same, allowing for file transfers between cards.

It worked flawlessly with SD, SDHC and SDXC cards. I used four different brands of cards and it read all of them. Using it with USB 3.0 is a breeze.

The G3 is the latest version of Kingston's MobileLite card reader line. I have owned both previous versions. This handles all of my SD cards from the earliest to my most recent 64GB SDXC card so I can access my information using just this one reader.

B&H's price was great and it was delivered when they said it would arrive.
