Comments about Samyang 500mm f/6.3 Mirror Lens (White):
This lens replaced a Vivitar 500mm I got from BHphoto. A 100% improvement. I have had it now for a week and have tested it indoors and outdoor with very satifactory results. You need to know this is not a $4k L lens so you need to know its limitations and work around them but to me that is what photography is all about. I am having fun with this lens and having used Mirror lenses 20 years ago with film I still enjoy finding the best way to use them.

Comments about Samyang 500mm f/6.3 Mirror Lens (White):
First of all, there is a correlation between cost of a product and the value of a product. I had read all the reviews prior to purchasing this lens (As all people should do), so, I was aware of its limitations. Having said that, I can say that I am very pleases for the purpose of the purchase. I wanted to shoot videos of retails; lizards To be exact) in their natural habitat without interfering. This lens performed beyond expectations. Keeping in mind the cost of the lens its value supersedes its cost. Being a fixed aperture lens (F6.3) is of no consequence since the Depth of field (DOF) is exactly what I wanted to separate the subject from the background. Its clarity is very good for the Internet. Being greedy and wanting more of the lens than advertised, I wish it was sharper at distances greater than 50 yards. Yes. This lens outperformed its expectations.

Comments about Samyang 500mm f/6.3 Mirror Lens (White):
I used mirror reflex lens 20 years ago with film because of their size and wieght. They are a lens you have to know how to use. I ordered a vivitar 500mm f6.3 and it was horrable. BHphoto did a switch for this Samyang (which came as an ProOptic --Samyang make the same lens for Bower, phoenix, etc). I have used it for several birding outing and it has proved to be a very good lens.
I attached a couple of images to show this a very capable lens. the first shot was taken of a bird house from about 50 feet on a tripod. The second is our dog from about 80 feet on a sunny day hand held.
For a 500mm lens I can throw in the backpack for hiking and not have to worry about too much weight and it didn't break the bank I have no complaints.
