Using a softbox with your shoe-mounted flash will help to diffuse and to evenly distribute the light output of the flash. This will help to reduce those harsh shadows which are often the result of flash photography. Also included is an internal diffuser, to minimize the possibility of hotspots. In addition, the recessed front face helps to control light spill.
The included flash bracket is adjustable vertically, and features a universal shoe which is adjustable horizontally. These adjustments make this unit compatible with virtually all standard flash units (incl. Nikon SB-900 & SB-910), as well as radio receivers. In addition, for those receivers that do not feature a bottom shoe connector, the bracket shoe is removable to expose a male 1/4"-20 screw. There are also three plastic washers included in the shoe assembly, to accommodate receivers of various sizes.

The Impact Quikbox is an excellent product. As noted in other reviews the inner difuser is a little tricky but once installed it can be left in place so not a big deal, unless you want to remove it. The box is very sturdy, easy to attach the adapter ring and bracket which make the rig very stable. The light stand is a bit to light weight but will be useful for other tasks ( I already have a pair of Impact 9.5' stands that I like a lot). The umbrella bracket I found to be to weak, again useful for other thing. I may seem to be negative on the last 2 items and I don't mean to be, they are very good, just to light weight for me, however when you consider the price of this kit it's a great bargain, hence the 5 stars. Also the flash shoe mount is also made very well and will come in handy.

The softbox is easy to assemble, but adding the inner diffuser was a pain. The little clips were difficult to keep open while trying to hook them on the small elastic loops that are attached to the softbox itself. The outer diffuser went on just fine and the mount was a quick install as well. I gave it four stars because of the four clips. They should just be four hooks. It would have made it much easier to install and uninstall. The stand is nice too. I read many reviews saying that the air-cushioning effect was no good. Maybe it is a little ratchety, but to me, that's better then damaging my lights and other attached equipment. I will say...I wish that it was the 13' stand. The umbrella bracket is nice too. Not much to say...it's an umbrella bracket. It works perfectly. All in all, I was impressed with the light output. The soft shadows were just what I was looking for, and I really love the seclusion of light from a softbox vs a shoot-thru umbrella. But I must say, each has it's own place in light.
