The portable and lightweight Toshiba 16GB Excite 10 Tablet can be your personal assistant, confidant, photographer and friend. It provides organization, entertainment and communication. It already supports the innovative and mobile-specific Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system; let it support you too. The Excite features a 10.1" capacitive multi-touch LCD screen with 1280 x 800 resolution, LED backlight, AutoBrite technology, 170° horizontal/vertical viewing angles, 10-finger touch control and a Corning Gorilla Glass enclosure. The 16:10 widescreen aspect ratio ensures your movies and video will be viewed as the director intended with no altering or cropping to fit the screen. Plus, the internal 1GB DDR3L 1333 MHz RAM memory and 1.4GHz NVIDIA Tegra 3 Super 4-PLUS-1 quad-core processor with 5th battery-saver core keep your work flowing. The Excite even boasts NVIDIA 12-core high-performance graphics as well. The 16GB storage capacity is ideal for storing all your audio and video content, but if you need more room, the full-sized SD card slot affords storage expansion up to 32GB.
The Excite features a plethora of connection options as well. For wireless connectivity, it's equipped with WiFi (802.11 b/g/n) and Bluetooth 3.0 + HS. You can access the Internet from your home wireless network or from any WiFi hot-spot. Plus, Bluetooth connectivity affords wireless device connection for easy and convenient keyboard or mouse hook-up. Other connection options include a micro USB 2.0 port, 3.5mm stereo headphone jack, and a micro HDMI port for viewing video content on an HDTV in uncompressed, Full HD 1080p resolution. There are also front and rear cameras, as well as a docking connector port. Researched tablets for a while, and though not looking for the latest and greatest I wanted a good product that was built well from a good company at a good price.. I found that in the Toshiba Excite 10 sold at B&H. Received quickly, and though haven't had it long enough to get really into it, I feel that it was a great buy.

It's thin, which is great. It has a full size SD card slot. I use it to view playback from my Panasonic GH2 camera on a 10" screen. I tried this on a Tegra 2 device, and it wouldn't play. The Tegra 3 in this one, though, plays it just fine. You might have to find the right software for the file type that your camera records in. Mine records to AVCHD and I use Dice Video Player.
Unfortunately, Toshiba didn't include the drivers for third party file managers to be able to access the SD card slot, -1 star. And it doesn't look like there will be enough of a following for this tablet for the modders and hackers to come up with a custom ROM, so this probably won't ever be an option.
The speakers are really good. The tablet I bought before this one and returned had terrible speakers. This one has two speakers at the bottom, and with the volume all the way up, it's quite loud.
There is a little light bleed into the screen, which is really only noticeable when the screen is black or a darker color. I noticed it the first couple of days, and haven't noticed it at all since. It hasn't changed, it just doesn't bother me enough to notice it.
It's also a good option if you need a portable teleprompter setup, but don't want an iPad because you're already set on Android.
If you want a thin tablet and you're a photographer or videographer who uses SD cards (or probably other card types with an OTG cable and a card reader), this is the tablet for you. Plus HDMI if you do a lot of presentations. For other people, I would still recommend this tablet based off the sound, speed, thinness, and screen. But if you don't need all of the I/O options, you might consider other tablets that have more of a following. But for me, this was the only option on the market, and I'm very happy with it.

I've had this tablet for prolly about two weeks now or close to it, the resolution on the screen is crystal clear, the tablet's speed in loading programs and applications so far is impressive.I was worried about the 16 gb space but moving movies documents and songs to the cloud negates those worries so unless you really low the tablet up the space will get you by for a time.
I haven't noticed any bleed effects as you'll see people say with the tablet so maybe I got lucky or it happens over time. Either way I don't have many complaints. I'm liking this tablet alot and glad i got the tablet over a samsung galaxy which only had a 1.0 processer and this one a 1.2.
