Comments about Zacuto Fee-N-G DSLR ENG-Style Camera Support:

Zacuto's quality is unmatched. And this rig is another one of its great products. It's probably as compact as a run and gun style rig can get. The only draw back is its price. And you will need an EVF (again, I recommend Zacuto's, but again, it's not cheap) and a remote to attach to the handle otherwise you'll be losing stability when you use your right hand to adjust settings or start/stop recording on the camera itself. Great rig for DSLR shooters.

I have used it at two events so far. In each event I was shooting a combination of indoor and outdoor video footage using a DSLR and a Ninja2 external recorder. The shoulder rig was comfortable on the shoulder and the top handle provided for some interesting low angle shots.

Comments about Zacuto Fee-N-G DSLR ENG-Style Camera Support:

The BIGGEST FLAW on this rig is the red screw knob that loosens and tightens your camera plate onto the rig. It's a female end that attaches to a male screw, and if you over tighten the male piece, GOOD LUCK GETTING THE PLATE OFF. The entire female pin will just un screw all the way off, leaving your camera stuck on the rig.

This pretty much caused for some sweaty crunch time at my last wedding shoot. Had to awkwardly take off my camera using a dime. Not easy when the plate is fastened to the rig and ya got big hands. NO BUENO.

Zacuto asked me to send the plate back, but I just dropped some Gorilla Glue in there and fixed the two together. I ain't got time to bleed, It's Wedding Season Baby!

I also do not like how the camera plate screw just falls right out. For how much Zacuto charges you'd think they could figure this stuff out......

Any time you spend over a thousand dollars and end up using glue.... hmmm.

I still do love the kit. It's great for run and gun documentary shooting.
I attach my 5D MKIII, a SMALL HD monitor, a mini rode mic on the shoe and a Zacuto Z drive on focus. It's also nice to be able to brake the parts down and get creative.

When asked if I would recommend this to a friend....YES...I would recommend this to a very rich friend.

        Use it for corporate work.

Had to totally re-design it (customize rods, location of connectors, etc) due to several flaws in engineering of the unit. You will need to do the same to make it work properly for you.

HEAVY, weight is great quality but great mass and makes it ridiculously heavy. I just leave it off now.

Location of mounting points are questionable. Components are of good quality but overall design needs an overhaul.

Comments about Zacuto Fee-N-G DSLR ENG-Style Camera Support:

Just used this to film a small doc out in Mexico. The rig was super easy to assemble and very compact on the road. Naturally with the weight its a little heavy on the arms but fine on the shoulder. My recommendations thou would be try and use image stabilizer lenses. I had a Canon macro 100m with IS and the Canon 24-70mm. the IS makes a considerable difference. Without IS it is fine if you maintain a very stable static stance but if you want to do any run gun style stuff it gets a little choppy. The shake is nowhere near as bad as without a rig but still visible. The other thing i would say is that get yourself a good tool kit. I good leatherman will do it. I had to tinker the rig every eve to tighten a few screws here and there, nothing major. so highly recommended!

Having purchased the FEE N G Zacuto rig primarily to shoot a real estate conference, I am delighted to say that it made a whole load of difference and elevated my Canon 5D Mkiii to a new level.
It is now a run and gun camera. Great design Zacuto

Comments about Zacuto Fee-N-G DSLR ENG-Style Camera Support:

I bought the FEE-N-G based on a couple of recommendations. I was a little hesitant on price; however owning several other pieces of Zacuto gear I knew the quality would be top notch so I bit the bullet. This is my first full Zacuto rig.

When I first received it I used it straight away for a gig (live event) the next day and it was great! It does add more items to your overall kit, but being able to place the rig down without having to set the camera on its side gives a lot of piece of mind.

Positioning is very comfortable. Once you have everything set up on the rig, camera body, lens, EVF, it balances nicely and holds very steady. What I like most is the small footprint.

It is a HEAVY unit though. Make sure you tighten down the weight AND the handle securely as not doing so can cause slips and can be dangerous for your gear.

The arm that behaves as the kickstand and the EVF holder can get in the way of the zoom barrel on zoom lenses. I have to reposition the body of the DSLR a bit forward in order for my hand not to knock into the EVF. A little annoying.
