iConnectMIDI from iConnectivity is an enhanced MIDI interface that enables communication between the traditional 5-pin MIDI equipped devices, USB MIDI, Mac and Windows computers, and iOS devices - all at the same time.
A proprietary MIDI Data Management Engine enables several configurable functions, allowing the unit to go beyond the usual MIDI Interface uses.

The unit works as advertised. However, it also emits an extremely high-pitched noise which is barely audible but still highly unpleasant.
I have contacted the company tech support but have not received an answer for the last 10 days.

I have had this product for about a week, and use it to connect an iPhone (and soon an iPad) to my PC laptop. So far, the results have been excellent. I am able to control my VST host (Ableton Live) and a variety of plugins. My longterm goal is to use an iPad to control my PC during live performances, and I'm confident this is going to work out as planned. My only complaints are (1) the connection does not allow for charging of iOS devices, and (2) you can only connect TWO iOS/computer devices (would be better to allow for at least 3, so you can hook up 2 iPads, or an iPad and iPhone to you computer).
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
