Comments about Plantronics .Audio 628 Stereo USB Headset:

It's a well built product and the controls (mute, volume) work out-of-the-box with Windows 8 (maybe a driver was installed but it was done automagically).Audio recording quality via the microphone is good (which is why I got it). The headphones themselves are a tad heavy on the base but the sound quality is decent. My one beef with the headset is that the ear pads cause my ears to get warm. I'd like for Plantronics to try to redesign the headset so that the ear pads allow the ears to breath. Perhaps a different type of material?

Comments about Plantronics .Audio 628 Stereo USB Headset:

So far it's been used for running on-line lessons through Adobe Connect and for phone calls through Google Hangouts. The experience has been good. Other people report that I'm crystal clear and my own assessment of my recordings is that the quality is quite good. It's not AS good as what you'd get with a condenser style microphone (e.g. Snowball) but it's still substantially better than what you get with most headsets. The remote control on the cord is handy. Includes a volume control, a mute button and some other button (to do with Skype?).The fact that it's USB eliminates the problem of poor connections with audio jacks. My one beef is that the foam ear pads make my ears warm up like ear muffs, but, it's something I can live with for the sake of a high quality sound recording. Perhaps I'll remove the ear pads someday, who knows.

Comments about Plantronics .Audio 628 Stereo USB Headset:

I bought these from B&H to upgrade my older Plantronics .Audio 476, that I have been using primarily with Dragon NaturallySpeaking for a couple of years. Although it worked fine, for the most part, I wanted a more stable microphone position, which is very important when using Dragon. Although I still like the way the older .Audio 476 folds up (and I will continue to keep it in my laptop case because of that), I really felt that the microphone was not stable enough at times.

I have to say that I really am glad that I upgraded and also that I've been very pleasantly surprised at the audio quality, which has very low distortion. The 32 mm driver does not do 20 Hz very well, but it will do 32 Hz and the diction from the microphone and therefore accuracy when using Dragon is perhaps a little more accurate than the older headset.

Therefore it was a breeze to dictate this review with NaturallySpeaking.

Comments about Plantronics .Audio 628 Stereo USB Headset:

This was recommended by Dragon Dictate, and I see why. Very good headset for Skype and speech recognition. Sound quality is a major step up from set that came with Dragon.
