Panasonic's Lumix DMC-GF5X Mirrorless Micro Four Thirds Digital Camera with 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 Lens (White) is a sophisticated image-making photographic and video machine disguised as a mild-mannered advanced amateur camera. The DMC-GF5X is a compact and lightweight (less than 8 oz) camera that couldn't be any easier to operate, with automated scene, face, motion, subject and light detection systems in place to produce great results every time.
On the other hand, the 12.1MP Live MOS sensor and Venus processing engine are superlative tools that are reducing noise, and putting out beautiful images time after time, no matter what the conditions. The 14-42mm lens (equivalent to 28-84mm in 35mm format) gives you a true wide-angle at one end of the zoom, and a short telephoto that's perfect for portraits at the other end. Power O.I.S. (optical image stabilization) prevents camera shake from ruining pictures because of slow shutter speeds. The G X electric power zoom allows you to select the speed of the zoom (especially useful for shooting video). The upgraded autofocus captures an image in an incredible 0.09 second. Sensitivity up to ISO 12800 means you don't have to put your camera away when the light begins to drop.
Full HD 1920 x 1080 video is at your fingertips, with many of the same creative options that are available for still photographs. The gorgeous 3.0" LCD touch-screen monitor has 920,000 dots of resolution for clear, beautiful images when you're composing or reviewing your work, or using the touch function to focus right on the monitor screen, for stills and for video. An array of creative features and color modes mean endless creative possibilities when you're shooting with the GF5X.

Comments about Lumix DMC-GF5X Mirrorless Micro Four Thirds Digital Camera with 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 Lens (White):
I am an amateur photographer that made the switch to point and shoot a few years ago in order to capture more shots on the fly. I'm just not one of those people who wants to carry a heavy camera and special camera bag along with me everywhere I go. I got back from a recent vacation, though, and was appalled when my boyfriend's iPhone took better pictures! I knew I needed an upgrade. After much research, the Lumix GF5X was my choice: versatile, compact enough to fit in my small purse, and it takes beautiful shots. I take it everywhere, which opens up a lot of unexpectedly great photo opportunities. My hands down choice to those looking for a step above point and shoot, without all the fuss (and price!) of a heavy DSLR.

Comments about Lumix DMC-GF5X Mirrorless Micro Four Thirds Digital Camera with 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 Lens (Black):
The camera takes great still pictures, the standard 14-42 lens is good and the sensor must be amazing when you look at the output. The video is good but not fantastic, although you can at least use the zoom and the autofocus while recording.
But...one major ommission in the camera is a viewfinder, so you can only frame shots in the touchscreen

Comments about Lumix DMC-GF5X Mirrorless Micro Four Thirds Digital Camera with 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 Lens (Black):
This is a great camera for someone who has outgrown the limitations of their point-and-shoot but doesn't want the complication/weight/cost of a DSLR. This camera would be best for someone who has experience with digital cameras and has knowledge about manual features, but it can be operated easily in Intelligent Auto mode to yield great results. The camera is very versatile and can be used in full manual mode. The resulting photos require little to no color correction. I've owned a lot of Lumix cameras and love the photos I get with them but this one is the best of all of them because of the huge sensor, the manual features and the interchangability of the lenses.
