My son bought this as a storage drive for the Ubuntu system he built from parts in the basement (old discarded half working systems).
So far, it works just fine.
I have at least 4 other Buffalo drives and they've always been just fine, except the latest Lion update for the Mac broke the SAMBA access. Not a fault of Buffalo, but Apple...
