Comments about Kupo Junior Roller Stand (8.8'):

Having casters on your light stand is great, especially if you are shooting with no cables or cords. I have the 2 of these stands and love the durability. The brakes on the casters are not the best, but do the job.
I have a kupo mini boom that I use quite often with these stands.

I was looking for a sturdy stand to mount a boom, strobe and large softbox. This stand fit the bill perfectly.

Comments about Kupo Junior Roller Stand (8.8'):

I've only been able to use the stand once since purchasing it, but no real qualms. As other reviewers stated, the casters are a little weird to get on and the brakes are made of plastic.

The only other roller stand I've used is a Matthews. This feels almost as solid as the Matthews. It didn't seem to close as nice though. Maybe it just needs to be broken in though. As I said, only used it once so far.

Comments about Kupo Junior Roller Stand (8.8'):

I recently purchased two junior roller stands for my photography studio after having undergone shoulder surgery - schlepping around fully-loaded C-Stands is not in my future for the next few months. Some colleagues have Kupo stands and thought I'd give them a try.

Now that they're assembled, they're just plain awesome. They roll nicely even over uneven wood floors, they lock down tight and they handle my lights with lots more weight to spare. What's nice too is the ability to make small adjustments to lighting position with modeling lights turned on. I can focus on my subject and where the light is hitting them without having to pick up the entire stand or drag it around.

The only downside is that there were no instructions on how to assemble the wheels to the base. It's kinda intuitive, but I would have saved a lot of time guessing. I used a pair of needle nose pliers and a crescent wrench - the process is slow but once the wheels are on, they're on!

I will likely buy a couple more of these...

Comments about Kupo Junior Roller Stand (8.8'):

I bought this light stand to hold booms, in particular, the excellent Avenger Mini-Boom (D600).

After looking over my options for roller stands with 5/8" studs, and taking into account the load involved (Profoto monolights), I wanted a stand with all-steel risers. As much as I like the D600 boom, I couldn't see pairing it with a roller stand that had aluminum risers, such as (the obvious choice): Avenger's A5029.

Which brings me to this Kupo stand. The fit and finish is outstanding. Besides the awesome steel risers..

                • The die-cast alloy collars are solid, look great, and inspire confidence.
                • All handles have an ergonomic shape and turn smoothly.
                • Wheels roll like a dream, even under load.
                • It's a little heavier than other stands in this class, which I like.
                • Slightly larger footprint diameter than the competition.
                • And the stand deploys and folds up with almost no effort.

Good job Kupo, I'm very impressed. The only thing I would change is that the wheel-lock tabs are nylon/plastic, so I'd knock off half a star for those. Other than that, this stand is built for the long haul. I'm definitely going to order another one.

A few notes about assembly: This stand ships with wheels loose and unassembled, and no instructions. It's fairly obvious, just bolt the wheels to the leg-caps, then you'll need two 10mm sockets to fasten the leg-caps to the legs. And the photo above shows the riser assembly sticking out the bottom collar by a few inches. I wanted to get some extra height, so I loosened the bottom collar-lock with an allen key and slid the remaining coupla inches up and re-tightened. Makes the folded length right about 48" .. Cheers ~
