Comments about Gitzo G11510N Microphone Shock Mount:

I use this shock mount to position a shot gun mic for video interviews. Its as durable and well designed as you would expect from Gitzo and I have no gripes with it.

Comments about Gitzo G11510N Microphone Shock Mount:

I purchased this shock mount to use in conjunction with the Rode NTG-2 and Rode Micro Boom Pole on the set of a short film. Everything fits together fantastically. There were no instructions but it's pretty straight forward. The mount comes pre-assembled and easily screws onto a boom using the 3/8" threads. I'm very impressed with the sturdiness. The only thing that isn't metal on it are the two adjustment screws on either side as well as the bands that hold your microphone in place. Overall, I have been very happy with this mount but there is one serious issue and it is the reason that I only give this item 4 stars. The rubber bands that come with this mount are loose and VERY slippery. My Rode NTG-2 slips out very easily and it is a standard shotgun microphone diameter. My Rode NT3 fits slightly better but still slides out. I will need to purchase a different set of bands to hold my mics in place. I knew going into the purchase that there is not a way to tighten or adjust the fit but I imagined that the bands would be plenty strong. I would strongly encourage you do quality research to compare the size of your mic and this mount. The last thing you want is for your mic to come smashing on the ground because your shock mount wasn't gripping enough.

Comments about Gitzo G11510N Microphone Shock Mount:

This shock mount is well-made with a metal cage but there is one critical flaw: the rubber bands are loose and slippery, and thus this shock mount doesn't hold my Rode NTG3 mic.

I've ordered some different rubber bands and I'll give those a try, but I expected that this thing would work straight out of the box. Hopefully the new bands will make everything all right again.

Comments about Gitzo G11510N Microphone Shock Mount:

I use this primarily on my DSLR shoulder rig in conjuction with a Sound Devices Mixpre-D and Canon 60D.

I had two Rode shockmounts before this one and they both broke in transit before they even got to me. So I decided I wanted an inexpensive shockmount made of metal. This Gitzo fits the bill. It's basic and straight forward and I'm not afraid I'll damage it when I travel with it in my equipment case.

Highly recommended for an inexpensive shockmount.

Comments about Gitzo G11510N Microphone Shock Mount:

Solid shock mount - Typically gitzo, very high quality and built to last.

I would have given 5 stars but it doesn't come with spare elastic bands.

Comments about Gitzo G11510N Microphone Shock Mount:

I needed a good shock mount for my boom pole that wasn't going to break the first time something bumped into it. This mount was nice because it was made of metal, not plastic. I don't have to be afraid to tighten or loosen it. No worries about cracking in temperature changes either.

Use it for interdependent film making. As good as certain more expensive models for a fraction of the price. Has limited adjusting abilities and doesn't come with extra shock mount rubber bands
