The black Digital Rucksack 467-DL from Kata is a slightly larger version of Kata's Digital Rucksack 466-DL. Even with the 467's larger capacity, it remains a compact, lightweight and structural sound rucksack that can also be used as a standard daypack or sling-style bag. With its capacity to hold a DSLR system with 3-4 standard lenses as well as personals and accessories, this rucksack will get you through a gig or a family walk in the park. It's also rated to hold your 17" laptop in its own padded compartment.
The interior of the bag is made from Kata's tough Aeriform Foam-EVA (ethyl vinyl acetate) and EVE (polyethylene), plus the overall construction features their unique TST (Thermo Shield Technology) rib structural design that provides additional strength to the areas of the bag that are most subject to shock. Strong, adjustable and padded shoulder straps deliver comfort while on the road and a sternum strap helps maintain stability while you walk.
The bag itself contains four zippered storage areas with the top designed for your personals and the bottom for photo gear. Plenty of accessories will fit inside including a flash, small computer, documents and iPad. A removable bottom insert allows you to transform the rucksack into a handy daypack. The exterior contains a side cup that can be used to either hold the legs of your tripod or a water bottle.
Optional Kata Camera Strap PL can be attached to the bag's D-rings to help alleviate the weight of your DSLR when hung around your neck. For even more convenience, the rucksack will accept Kata's optional Insertrolley that will allow you to effortlessly roll your pack through parking lots and up ramps. A built-in rain cover will protect you when the weather turns sour. This is a very useful, lightweight everday bag that meets the need of anyone who wants a strong and flexible way to carry a wide variety of photo and personal gear. It's backed by Kata's five-year warranty.

Comments about Kata Digital Rucksack 467-DL (Black):
I bought this bag first for the price point and also because my brother in law has an older version and he seemed to like it. Once I got it - I felt that it was bigger than I expected but not huge. First thing I did was load my Canon 7D with 24-105 L4.0 lens and right off the bat I had to work the zipper shut. It didn't fit in as it does in my smaller Tamrac bag but it was good enough for the trip I was going on. I was also able to fit my 50mm 1.4, 580EX flash and 2 chargers (camera and AA) and the lens hoods. The upper compartment is great to throw in cables, memory cards (zippered mesh pocket for that) and anything else. What I really like about this bag was the external zippered compartments where I threw in my Canon point and Shoot and my Canon camcorder. My 13.3 Dell Laptop and charger cable fit with ease into the dedicated compartment as well.
All in all, it's a nice bag to travel with and lug a bunch of gear with you. I wouldn't get this bag if you want something sleek to roam around in the city for a day trip where a sling bag that has direct access to the camera would be better. It's pretty high quality from what I can tell, but it's not a Tamrac.

Perfect size for my Canon EOS digital camera w/3 lenses, charger, close up lense set, tripod & monopod, spare batteries, access.& plenty of room left over for day trip items & water bottle holder on outside of pack. Pack is well constructed from durable materials & camera compartment is well padded. Having a laptop compartment is a big plus - making you able to transfer your photos from camera to pc in the field. My only negative is you have to remove pack to access your camera & equip.I solved that problem by also getting the Kata Pro-Light C camera strap that allows you to mount your camera to the D rings on front of pack so you're camera is ready at all times.

This bag is divided in 2 large compartments (bottom : camera gear & top : raincoat, lunch, laptop, & more gear); 4 middle compartments for smaller stuff (batteries, small light meter, cards, cel, etc)and 2 deep side pockets for water bottles, tripod or what not. The design is well done and subtle and it's strongly built. Really affordable and worth every bit.

I bought this bag based on the other reviews I read all over the internet. The bag is good looking and light weight and the colors are nice (Yellow interior with the black textured exterior). The camera compartment is well padded with the velcro dividers giving you the flexibility to set up slots based on your gear. Plus, the entire camera compartment can be taken out and the layer separating the top half of the bag from the camera section can be removed to make this a daily backpack when you are not carrying your camera equipment. With or without the gear, the bag is pretty stable on any flat surface and there is no way to tell that there is camera gear inside. When carrying the bag, it sits a littler higher than I expected. The zippers are of good quality too and don't make the clinking noise as they have fabric pullers Vs metal ones. The side pockets are deep but a little snug on the width. One of sides has a strap to tighten a tripod if you are carrying one in the side pocket. And, yes, this bag comes with a nice rain cover as well. There are not many slots in the main compartment of the bag. There are four pockets in the front, two of them pretty thin and two others a little deep and wide. Overall, a nice looking well built bag. I am yet to carry it on a trip, but will be doing so for an International trip later this month.

I bought this bag to carry my camera equipment and my laptop together. I wanted to reduce one extra bag for laptop.
First of the bat bag is compact for the stuff it holds. It has padded camera compartment on the bottom, laptop sleeve along the back and an unpadded top compartment. My only gripe is that the top compartment is un padded. There is a ziiper that you can open to merge the bottom and top compartments to use as a backpack (and take the padded camera equip holder out).
I put in my 5d II, 24-105, 28mm f/2.8, 100mm f/2.0, 430ex, generic flash triggers and AA batteries in the padded section. I wa snot able to fit in 580ex though. That went in with its padded bag in the top compartment, along with my 70-200 f/4, 2 lense hoods, rocket blower and 5d battery.
There is no waist belt but the design seems well balanced without that too. A waist belt would have made this bulky!
I had to remove the lense from the camera. This is okay for me as I do not intend to use it as a walkaround bag but rather a travel bag.
Other travel bags with similar capacity and ability to quickly pull out the camera were too big and heavy for my taste.

I pride myself on packing light. For a 2-3-week trip to Europe, I make do with a small duffle and a backpack full of hardware. Now, with the 467-DL, I've condensed it all down to that single bag. I couldn't be happier.
The intelligence, experience and common sense that went into the design and construction of this rucksack is superb. And at 1/3-1/2 the cost of nearly every other bag I studied before deciding on this one by Kata.
I've recommended it to numerous friends, and I recommend it to you. And I urge you to purchase this one, that accomodates a 17" laptop, even if you don't own one. On a number of occasions, I've left the MacBook behind and used the space to hold two or three shirts. Then come out in perfect shape, not a new wrinkle to be found.
If you're in the market for a camera bag like this, buy this one.

I bought this pack before a vacation to California that included days in Yosemite (hiking), a few coast towns (biking/driving), and a city (walking). This pack was great for every occasion. The bottom compartment was perfect for hiking it carried my 7D with vertical grip and a 70-200 f/2.8L but there was no extra room down there. I only did that one day, the other days I had a Sigma 10-20mm attached with the nifty fifty brought along and extra room in that compartment. For the hiking I had a lot in the upper section. I used the laptop compartment for a camelbak bladder. The laptop section worked great because the flap is held up with velcro and the hook for a camelbak bladder attached perfect with that. I also brought a small first aid kit, flashlight, a bit of food and an extra water bottle on the side. Everything fit in snuggly, but with plenty of extra room if you needed it. The pack does not have waist straps so it can get heavy but the chest strap does enough that it wasn't a problem for me.For the driving, biking, and walking around it was nice to be able to keep everything light enough to be comfortable but still hold everything you could need. With various combinations as needed I packed it full of books, foods, chargers, a computer, wallet, phone, keys, extra lenses, etc.For flying to/from I had it packed to it's fullest. I had a macbook pro, charger, big-ish book, 70-200mm f/2.8L (in the case it came with), sigma 10-20mm, canon 50mm f/1.8, camera charger, phone charger, card reader, first aid kit, flashlight, folded up camelbak bladder, water bottle, and various small accessories like a camera remote, extra memory cards, etc. With a little extra room in the bottom camera compartment.I think this is going to be my everyday backpack. I use to use a Dakine (not camera fitted) backpack for my average day to day stuff because I didn't really need the camera compartment, but this pack fits all my regular stuff so well I can't see a need to use my other backpack for anything.

I'm an incoming college freshman and I intend to join my university's photo club as well as newsletter in order to work in photojournalism. I needed a backpack that can carry my books, my laptop, camera gear, and my supplies. The Kata Digital Rucksack does not disappoint in doing so. I can store my D7000 with three medium to small size lenses and can even add in a 10.5mm fisheye and 28-70 2.8! However, you may have to sacrifice some lens space for storing books, but I don't really carry big lenses. It's sturdy, inconspicuous, protective all in one bundle! I recommend this for taller people as this bag is kind of long. But all in all, it's worth the slight awkward physical appearance in order to protect and transport my gear.
