The CT-2391 3-Section Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs from Oben is a very sturdy support for any DSLR, mirrorless, point-and-shoot camera, or camcorder. With a load capacity of 39.6 lb and a maximum height of 72.4", the tripod offers a number of advanced features that ensure its stability and reliable performance.

The tripod features ergonomically designed rubber twist locks on each leg. Because legs are non-rotating, both of a leg's locks can be disengaged at once with a single twist of the wrist. This enables extremely fast setup of the CT-2391. A thoughtful leg design makes it a simpler task to service and maintain the leg sections.

With its 6x carbon fiber legs and center column, the CT-2391 is both lightweight (the tripod weighs just 3.45 lb) and very solid, ready to survive the rigors of professional work. The tripod chassis is cast aluminum for further strength.

The CT-2391's rapid center column extends with a twist of the butterfly knob. For protecting your camera when the column is retracted quickly, there's a rubber damper under the center-post collar. Steel locking screws underneath the collar enable you to fasten a camera head more securely.

Pull-in/push-out positive leg locks allow you to set the positions of the three legs independently at three different angles. This allows you to shoot from low angles or on uneven terrain. Interchangeable rubber and spiked feet provide stability in any situation.

For extreme low-angle shooting, the center column can be split into two sections with the provided Allen key. The shorter column leaves no protruding parts under the tripod collar, allowing you to extend the legs out to their maximum angle. For a faster method, the center column is also easily reversible. These features are especially ideal for macro and close-up photography. The retractable metal counterweight hook serves as a stopper at the bottom of the center column.

Ergonomically designed rubber twist locks on each leg are non-rotating so all three of a leg's locks can be disengaged at once with a single twist of the wrist enabling fast setup.

Comments about Oben CT-2391 3-Section Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs:

I bought this tripod from B&H to be used in architectural photography. So far I have taken it through three jobs and it has behaved spectacularly.I first put it through a DIY stability test. I taped a laser pointer on the hotshoe cover and pointed it to a wall about 20 ft away. I leveled the camera and took several series of long exposures (1/2 sec up to 15 seconds). First with mirror lockup and a remote trigger, then without either thing. In all the photos the red dot of the laser pointer was on the same position. Thumbs up!If you are used to four section tripods or else you have always owned shorter ones, the bulk of this one may surprise you. It is not small in size, yet it is fairly light to carry around. I shoot architecture and interiors, so I don't have to lug it around too much. If you are looking into this tripod for hiking, etc... you may be better suited with the 4 section version, the CT-249, since it packs smaller. The leg locks seem sturdy, and the aluminum spider where the legs are mounted is well machined. It also includes a small metal hoop to hang accessories (I use it to hang a CamRanger). The center column can be removed, which is nice if you are weight conscious or else don't use it. With my tripod and head combination the camera sits above my eye level; I am 6'1" and I can't look into the view finder while tip toeing, yet I leave the column on in case I need to put the camera higher up. I just bring a small step-stool along to focus and level the camera ;).The tripod comes also with a set of spikes to replace the rubber feet in case you shoot outside, a set of tools and a carrying case. Overall, it is a steady carbon fiber tripod for under $[*], with lots of goodies included. If you want a tall tripod that is also light and steady, then this is the one for you. Just keep in mind the bulk size (28 inches folded) before you commit to it.

Comments about Oben CT-2391 3-Section Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs:

I agonized over desiding on a field tripod. The combination of light weight, length and cost led me to the CT 2391. I don't mind the flip open holders on some tripod legs, but like the twist open process better on this CT 2391. The twist legs provide for a smoother surface for carrying or storing. Additionally I desided to give up some overall folded length for a 3 vs. 4 section leg. Four secton legs require 3 times 3 flip operations to open. The three legs with two screw operations on each leg are tolerable.

This tripod is sturdy, I use it with a D800 and tele lenses. I wouldn't want any lighter gear for this application. The carbln fiber is a "no brainer" like cruse control in a car once you have it you will never do without.
