I primarly use this for loading pictures from various different cameras. One of camera uses the old xD Picture card, which has become somewhat obsolete and is not on many of the newer multi-card readers. This was a deciding feature for picking this reader.

Compared to my older multi-card reader (which doesn't handle the newer SDHC cards), transfers are significantly quicker (using USB3) even with my older camera's CompactFlash cards.

The only con I have with it is the short USB3 cable.. 3' not long enough to span from my USB3 port (back of the computer) to a reasonablly accessable position on my desk. I was able to pick up a 6' USB3 cord for about $12 - so that is somthing one may want to consider when purchasing this device.

Otherwise, it works well, it is noticably faster, and I like the tilt cover that keeps dust and other crud out when it's not in use.

Purchased this item because my built in card reader would not handle a UDMA7 CF card. The reader badly degraded 54 of 432 images beyond use. Both jpeg and raw were ruined. As a test, I downloaded the same images directly from the camera and they were fine.

I bought this to use with my new 15" rMacBook Pro. I wanted a USB 3.0 card reader that could accomodate SD and CF cards. This one pretty much covers it all and I like the white color. So far, so good.

After years of uploading with a USB 2 I am surprised how fast USB 3 is. I use this both in the field and at home. I can down load a full 8Gb card in no time and make a back up copy on a second hard drive in the same time it took me to download to one 4Gb card to my hard drive using USB 2. Great for wedding photos were you may have 3 to 5 thousand photos to download.

It doesn't work reliably on either of my Windows XP or 7 Pro 32bit USB 2.0 PC's (all very clean). On my Thinkpad T430s 64 bit Win 7 Pro, USB 3.0 works great WHEN it works. Drops the SD card connection 50% of the time - but never any problem with the laptop CD card slot, so this is nothing to do with the cards.

Comments about Lexar Multi-Card 25-in-1 USB 3.0 Memory Card Reader:

no mystery here, works as advertised and super fast.

used it with my retina macbook pro and the difference with usb 2.0 is night and day with the load times.

I put in cf cards for transfer. I'll let you know later how it holds up over time.

I love this card reader. The USB adapter is easily auto detected/configured, up and downloads are quick and the construction is rugged enough to bring along in my camera bag and not worry about damaging it or needing to clean it for use.

Upgraded from the Lexar USB 2.0 reader to the new USB 3.0 backward compatible reader that hooks up to my iMac desktop 29". This new reader now has the latest SD cards which is what I was looking for to accommodate my planned NIKON Coolpix camera purchase. My iMac has a basic SD slot but does not accommodate the later SD cards nor did my USB 2.0

Multi-card readers are essential, and this USB 3.0 by Lexar is fast and very well made. I bought it because it is not only fast but also because it can handle any card and function, downloading or transferring photos...one piece of equipment does it all fast. The reader is very well made and the pop-up case ensures that when it is not in use that the ports are well protected from debris etc. Simply the best at a very decent price.
