Comments about Pioneer Steez 808 On-Ear Dance-Inspired Stereo Headphones:
The GOOD Part:These headphones have surprising clarity, and detail! Highs are well defined, and can really sparkle in some tracks. Mids are also detailed, and the bass never drowns them out. The bass control is actually a potentiometer for the 40mm driver that produces the bass and lower-mid frequencies (dual drivers). Lowering the bass can produce a more relaxed sound good for acoustic and instrumental music. Increasing the bass thickens the mids and increases overall impact of percussions/beats. In effect, the marketing department got it right when they targeted the dancer demographic for the STEEZ line. These headphones make it easier to follow beat patterns in ANY song. Although the bass control makes these able to play any genre of music decently, these were really tuned to play high-bass, high-impact electronic music. As a dancer myself, I was able to appreciate the clarity it imposed on beats in Dubstep, Electro, Funk, Club, etc. They sound perfect with them. The BAD Part:I get that these were meant for dancers, and that it should stay on your head when dancing (it did), and that's the reason for the strong clamping force, but it's okay because it's light. BUT, my ears CANNOT take more than 30min wearing them. These pads were advertised as "Comfortable cushioned earpads". Well, I can say they're cushioned, but definitely NOT comfortable. The pleather is just too stiff! In the end, I had to request an RMA to return these. They sound amazing! But if my ears were cats, the phones would be scratched to shreds!
