The NP-BX1 Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery Pack from Sony is designed to replace the original NP-BX1 battery that arrives included with the Sony DSC-RX1 and DSC-RX100 digital cameras. This is for a sony rx-100. Unless you buy a separate battery charger, you need to charge your rx-100 batteries in the camera. I always have two charged and ready to go batteries for any camera I am using...one in the camera and one on reserve. Since I bought the rx-100 to have a small always ready pocket camera, I really don't want to lug around yet another charger. This battery is compact enough that it is easy to carry a spare or two.
