With the Quantum Instruments CoPilot Wireless TTL Flash Controller for Nikon you can control a studio full of flashes from up to 300' away from the hotshoe of your Nikon DSLR. Not only will the CoPilot trigger them but can adjust the lighting ratios of up to 3 independent groups of flashes. Instead of poking away at an LCD screen Quantum gives you ergonomic, tactile dials that you can adjust without looking at them once you get used to their functions. The CoPilot is compatible with current Qflash TRIOs and T5dRs as well as older versions and any non-Quantum flash that can be triggered in Manual and Auto mode only by a FreeXwire wireless receiver. Last but not least, the CoPilot has a built-in IR autofocus assist for fast focus in low light.

Comments about Quantum Instruments CoPilot Wireless TTL Flash Controller for Nikon:
In most of the cases this product WONT WORK OUT OF THE BOX. You will need to send your Qflashes for firmware update back to QUANTUM! In some cases you will have to pay for it...! By the other hand you must update your Copilot firmware online. PLEASE CHECK QUANTUM WEBSITE FOR MORE INFO.
If you live abroad the US don't even think taking the risk of buying it because you'll be probably asked to send your Qflashes for firmware update.

Great bit of gear! Easy to adjust while looking thru the viewfinder, no need to take your eye off the action.
I've had less than 1 in 1000 non fires.
B&H shipped very quickly to New Zealand.

Though I have not tried HSS. I am a wedding photographer and usually shoot at night. It works great with 2 trios and one T-5DR. Love the ease and control of CoPilot.

Comments about Quantum Instruments CoPilot Wireless TTL Flash Controller for Nikon:
HSS works, but in my case, only till 1/400 and from 1/4000. Everything in between is many stops overexposed. Tried it with the Nikon 800E.

Comments about Quantum Instruments CoPilot Wireless TTL Flash Controller for Nikon:
Copilot's high sync speed does NOT work properly with Nikon D700 or D800 and my Trio. There's is significant banding above 1/400. I understand how Quantum's HSS works because I own the Pilot and everything works fine. I posted about Copilot's HSS not working on Quantum forum and received no solution from Quantum. I own over $3000 in Quantum products and this Copilot will be my last purchase! :(

Comments about Quantum Instruments CoPilot Wireless TTL Flash Controller for Nikon:
Turn the trio into a stand alone flash!!; with the co-pilot I can use the X5dR as the main - and the Trio off to the side (off the camera) as the fill. Really turns the Trio into a much more useful tool. The Trio now can go on a stand, or in someone's hand. Possibilities are endless. Great price also.
