I really like this set up except for a few minor issues. First I didn't like the idea that one side is of the rubber grip is already turning white but Canon says they will fix it free. So check serial numbers. The Grip isn't up to par with my 5Dmk3 but with a battery grip I'm sure it will feel nicer. Only native ISO and nothing inbetween. Also only 4000 top shutter speed. You will need to hold down AV button to change Aperature Value. Like the flip out screen for video and podcast. Love the touch screen so don't laugh till you try it. ISO is fine if shot in Raw and using LR4 in post. Other wise fine noise starts to present it self at only 400 ISO similar to 7D. Over all my FF 70-200 f2.8 ii and 100mm f2.8L work better on my 5Dmk3 then on this crop body. Despite others pointing out that only the center is being picked up by the sensor. Useful otherwise crop factor having a FF back already and inexpensive Back up for my. Love the video quality and manual controls over shutter and ISO!! Super nice flash exposuer compensation does work with onboard flash!! Also on board flash can be used and trigger for Ex ii speed lights. Build quality and features are good for the price especially if you shoot both stills and video. The 18-135 STM is sharpest in class from any manufacture in this price range!! over all a solid performer.

...but I just can't. I'm spending a month in Europe. Have to travel light. Decided I'd find the perfect mix of DSLR and video capability. Based on the hype the T4i seemed to be the perfect fit. And what the STM was going to do for the 18-135mm lens. I couldn't wait! My first clue there was trouble ahead should have been when the body was released 6 weeks before the STM lens. 2nd clue was auto mode indoor/flash photos. Why do so many digital cameras under-expose most of the time? Yes, I could go to "P" mode and set it for an extra +1e/v. Auto also chooses 3200 ISO with the flash on! How about 100 and increase the flash output in Auto?! But the greatest downfall was in Video. Pix look great, and video image/resolution is great too, but it's slow, and I mean slow to auto focus under many lighting conditions. I was really disappointed. But thanks, Michael in B&H's tech support. He suggested I try the Sony Alpha 57. What? A Sony. Not C or N? Blasphemy! Well, the Sony is what I dreamed the T4i would be like. Perfect exposures indoors with flash in Auto mode. And video focus is almost instantaneous! Color saturation is great. 2 less megapixels, but larger sensor. I can't see a difference. Plus 12 shots p/s v. 5 on the 4i. And, if you do a lot of video you can shoot through the viewfinder on the a-57. 4i forces you to use the LCD and cope with glare and shorter resultant battery life. So, I fell in love, but with the Sony a-57. Plus, it's [$]less with the same lens!

Comments about Canon EOS Rebel T4i Digital Camera with EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM Lens:
I wanted to add to my orginal review that I neglected to rave about the IS feature (Internal Stabilization) in the 18-135 lens. It is STELLAR and makes a huge difference if you enjoy moving the camera around while capturing footage. As I get to know this camera (T4i) more and more, I find myself with the 18-135 nearly permanently attached to the camera. I will often go to the 50 mm 1.8 prime lens for sit down interviews for richer boca. The 18-135 is A+AMAZING! I have contemplated getting the 24-70 L lens as the 2.8 would be great, but even that expensive lens does not have the IS feature like the 18-135, which is a deal breaker for me as I primarily produce and direct videos. Steady & smooth video is paramount and the 24-70 does not offer that, which surprises me at that price point. I put the 18-135 to rigurous use on a professional video the other day and needed the auto focus to capture video as I was moving around handheld from various focal lengths -- rolling from 10 feet to 2 feet all in one move. It was spot on with the auto focus and that honestly blew me away, plus the auto focus is nearly 100% silent and is smooth wihout going in and out of focus. I also interviewed a family walking outdoors handheld (I was walking with them while rolling) and the IS feature was brilliant, it looked as if it was on a steadicam device.

Comments about Canon EOS Rebel T4i Digital Camera with EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM Lens:
Coming from a 35mm SLR background, I was very familiar with camera functions and most nomenclature. What I wanted in a DSLR was an update of my old film camera. I liked the idea of the touch screen, thus the T4i. I must say this camera has capabilities beyond my imagination, and probably capability. If you are totally new to photography this, and any other DSLR, will be confusing at first. I found the instructions overwhelming, and I thought I understood photography! The exposure/composure options are mind blowing in a full featured DSLR. One reason I decided on the T4i was the ability to take many different resolution formats. Like a lot of hobbyists, I am not always shooting large format pictures, and that requires reducing the resolution before publishing in an email or web site. The T4i allows lots of selection in this area that some others don't. Expect the DSLR to be lighter than the old SLR, and in some aspects it may feel cheap because of this, but keep working with it and you'll be amazed. The display is bright and clear, although you'll probably use the eyepiece more for shooting. It too has a lot of information in it including exposure and resolution settings, ISO, focus indicator, and the number of shots left. The screen has the ability to take a picture by touching it, but it can be turned off. This is not a useful function in my opinion, as it is hard to hold still and push a screen. But the touch screen is great for picture review and editing. The EF-S 18-135 IS STM is a dream lens. Smooth, and quiet when focusing, it does all you want in a lens. I would recommend this lens over the other "kit" lenses offered with this body. If you are doing any video work, the STM lens it what you want. The zoom and focus is smooth and the lens has some weight to it. It is a longer lens than others, so figure that into how you will use the camera. If you don't mind a little weight and length, go for it. You won't be disappointed. Overall, I'd buy this combo again in a heartbeat. It is a sweet duet.

I love this camera! I had a Canon G2 point and shoot camera I got from B&H. Thought I got great Jewelry shots, and outdoor shots around New York City. With this new Canon, the Jewelry shots are amazing. Much bigger, with sharp focus, and true color. Best of all I don't have to adjust color balance in adobe photoshop. I like the fact that it has IS lens as well. My G2 had IS too. I also bought the Canon f2.8 100mm macro IS USM lens. Can't beat the prices, and service at this store.

Comments about Canon EOS Rebel T4i Digital Camera with EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM Lens:
After many years of producing broadcast news stories with all the big $20,000 cameras, I finally made the switch over to DSLR film making and haven't looked back.
I picked up the T4i and it looks better than my Dateline camera at a fraction of the cost. It blows me away with the film like images and soft depth of field it produces.
The touchscreen is as good as everyone says it is, so is the 18 - 135 STM lens, that is a must have purchase. I didn't even bother with the 18 - 55 kit lens. The 18 - 135 is nearly 100% silent and the camera mic does NOT pick up any noise.
Auto focus is good not great, but I mostly keep it on manual. The touch screen auto focus is particularly excellent -- in live mode for example, you can click on an object in the screen that you want in focus, and the camera does a really good job at focusing in and keeping / tracking that focus point.
I am honestly spoiled with the touch screen and I predict other camera manufacturers will follow Canon's lead. It's easy and intuitive to use.
I highly recommend a 1.8 50 mm lens to go with this as the bocca is sweet. I did a side by side comparison to a 5DMK111 and I could not tell the difference. I also purchased a Tokina 2.8 11 - 16 mm and that lens offers another great look for my slider / steadicam. With those 3 lenses, (50 mm, 18-135 mm, 11-16 mm) I have everything covered.
If there are a couple of downfalls to the camera is that is does not have a headphone jack nor does it have as many ISO options as a full-frame camera so you will see noisier video in lower light situations, thus the quest to pick up lower aperture lenses. For audio monitoring, I use a juicedLink adaptor to cover that base, and that allows me to monitor audio and to get rid of the hiss that comes out of the camera.
The hiss exists in most DSLR cameras, so you need to find a work around if you want to record professional audio. JuicedLink helps as well as a Rode Video Mic Pro for your shot gun mic. To get rid of the hiss, set audio levels manually in the camera just a notch above zero, and crank up the gain on the juicedLink and the Rode Video Mic Pro. Works like a charm. The hiss is gone.
In summary, if there were more ISO options, a headphone jack and no hiss in the audio, the camera would be perfect. But even the high-end full-frame cameras have hiss issues. Thankfully, there are some work arounds to help. I suspect in a couple of years, that DSLR camera will be available for under 2 grand. For now, I am very happy with my purchase of the T4i.

I was originally looking for a new lens and when I saw the 18 -135 kit decided to upgrade camera as well. Canon was an easy choice. Old camera was a Rebel Xsi. So far so good. Someone mentioned that the click when you snap a picture is louder and its true. The touchscreen is an nice feature but I can live without it. The video too. Neither is necessary for me. B&H had the best price and the person who took care of me was extremely helpful and knew his stuff.

Comments about Canon EOS Rebel T4i Digital Camera with EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM Lens:
I've been shooting with a 350D (Rebel XT) for 5½ years, incl. semi-professionally (some sold prints, not enough to pay the bills; frequent custom photography for websites my company has built) and I'm still very happy with it. Paired with good lenses (e.g., Canon 10-22mm, 50mm f/1.8, 100mm macro, 70-300mm), it's still more than adequate for almost all applications.
Why did I get the T4i/650D?
1. I wanted video.
2. I wanted less noise at very high ISO (the one area in which the 350D can no longer keep up).
3. I wanted an extra body in case my 350D (which has taken 50,000 pictures) broke down.
4. I wanted the tilt-and-swivel display for overhead shots I sometimes need to take.
The T4i–18-135-STM kit has VASTLY EXCEEDED my expectations.
* The body is much faster (burst rate) than the 350D.
* AWB is MUCH better. I almost always use custom WB on the 350D, because AWB is too imprecise for my taste. However, on the T4i, AWB is very often exactly the same as custom WB (after photographing the 18% gray card), even in difficult artificial-light, indoor situations.
* Noise at high ISO is vastly less pronounced. What's unacceptably noisy at ISO 800 on the 350D is still perfectly fine at 6400 on the T4i.
* Not that auto focus on the 350D was bad, but it's much improved on the T4i.
* The touchscreen makes everything so much easier.
* Video with the STM lens is great.
But the 18-135 STM lens has really blown me away. Am I glad I bought it (instead of Plan A, just buying the body)! I never thought I'd use it for anything other than video, but it hasn't left the body yet. It's by far the sharpest non-prime I've ever used or tested. AF is spot-on, super fast, whisper-quiet. MF does not feel as slick as AF-override USM, but I haven't had to use it. (For macro work, I'll be using the 100mm macro anyway.)
The only CONS I've discovered are very minor nitpicks and all related to in-camera processing — something you don't need when you shoot RAW and post-process on a computer.
* The provided "Creative Filters" are tacky and therefore virtually useless — but you can't adjust WB post-shot in-camera?! It seems Canon wanted to make a heavy-handed point that this camera was not meant for professionals (even though it is pro-grade where it counts).
* Being able to selectively delete RAWs (without also deleting the accompanying JPEGs) would be nice.
* The in-camera HDR mode can't be customized at all (most importantly, for the amount of bracketing).

I ran this camera through it's paces and it is a feature-rich camera. I do little video work, but I like that this camera has auto focus while videotaping and also allows me to quickly change the brightness of the shot.
I did notice that the camera locked up on me twice in about an hour. The second time I needed to remove the battery.
Also, Google's Picasa program, which typically accepts RAW images, doesn't yet accurately import RAW from this camera. I have to use the slower, but more accurate, Adobe Photoshop Camera RAW. Hopefully Picasa will be updated soon.
I'm looking forward to using the T41 on my next vacation.

Get the package with the 18-135 lens. Highly versatile, easy to use. A step below professional grade. Feels a little less sturdy than a professional alternative, but this is an excellent camera and a great value.
