The Lightning Strike! Micro PRO 3.0 Shutter Trigger for Select Nikon Cameras by AEO Photo is a light and motion activated camera triggering device designed to capture images of lightning, fireworks and other light producing events. We have all tried to shoot photos of lightning or fireworks, probably with limited success, but the Lightning Strike! Micro PRO 3.0 Trigger can give us a leg up on that tricky enterprise. Attached directly to your camera's hot shoe, the Micro PRO 3.0 detects lightning in the distance and triggers your camera in an incredible 0.1 milliseconds to capture the power and beauty of a lightning strike.

The Lightning Strike! Micro PRO 3.0 is extremely compact and well designed, measuring 2.75" x 2.25" x 0.75" (7.0 x 5.7 x 1.9 cm). The PRO model features a locking hot shoe and tripod mount and a manually controlled sensitivity override for better triggering control in varied situations. Unique to the Lightning Strike! are their proprietary electronics which allow for image review after every shot and improved noise immunity to help eliminate unwanted firings.

Little touches like the low profile LED to minimize reflections when shooting through windows and a "positive action" ON/OFF switch that will not activate accidentally and drain your battery make this a perfect tool for storm chasers. The Micro PRO 3.0 is compatible with most DSLR cameras and utilizes cables specific to each camera. This model comes with a MC30 cable and is compatible with Nikon F100, F5, F6, N90, N90S, DCS-620, D1, D1X, D1H, D2, D2X, D2H, D2S, D3, D3X, D100 (with MB100 option), D200, D300. D700 cameras.

Note! Individual camera shutter lag and exposure settings will determine how fast your camera fires.

Compact, well-designed lightning trigger, measuring 2.75" x 2.25" x 0.75" (7.0 x 5.7 x 1.9 cm).
Manual Sensitivity Control Override allows for greater triggering control to match each situation.
Low profile "positive action" slide switch will not accidentally activate and drain battery.
Low profile LED minimizes reflection of light when used shooting through windows and windshields.
The Lightning Strike! PRO 3.0 version has upgraded to improve its noise immunity (shutter hammer) from man-made sources. This helps to reduce unintended camera firings.
Compatible with Nikon F100, F5, F6, N90, N90S, DCS-620, D1, D1X, D1H, D2, D2X, D2H, D2S, D3, D3X, D100 (with MB100 option), D200, D300. D700 cameras.

Comments about AEO Photo Lightning Strike! Micro PRO 3.0 Shutter Trigger for Select Nikon Cameras:

I wanted to wait until I actually got to use the device with lightning but the weather is just not cooperating. So my review will have to simply be on the way I tested my unit. I took my SB900 flash and set up the lightning trigger with the sensor facing away from the flash. I had gotten nearly 30' away before I stopped testing - the trigger never missed a beat. It triggered right away (if yours doesn't check your settings). I was impressed. One day I will actually get to use it with some lightning. When I do maybe I will update this review.

Comments about AEO Photo Lightning Strike! Micro PRO 3.0 Shutter Trigger for Select Nikon Cameras:

This trigger responds quickly to sudden light increases, triggering the camera (in my case various Nikon DSLRs and SLRs). I have not tried it yet in the field with lightning because, as luck would have it, there have been no thunderstorms here since its arrival. Construction seems adequate, not wonderful, and it comes in a Pelican case which can be a bit bulky to add to a camera bag. It is available in Nikon-compliant and
        Canon-compliant models.

Just set and automatically snaps photos of distant lightning.
have used it for landscape when storms are somewhat distant and can capture the large thunderstorms lit up.
