I bought the RainCoat due to the fact that I do quite a bit of outdoor location shooting, and I needed something to protect my camera in rainy and misty conditions. It does an excellent job of keeping the camera dry, it's compact & easy to store, and it's easy to put it on in the field.

Since the RainCoat is opaque and covers the entire camera, I was worried that it would impare my ability to use the camera's controls, but after a couple minutes of use, I found that I could do everything I needed to without any problems, even with the drawstrings pulled tight and the hook & loop seam sealed. I could easily adjust aperture, exposure time, and focus, and I had no problem at all with the shutter button.

I must note a few things, however:

1.) I use an Op/Tech USA Utility Sling strap, which connects on only one side of the camera. This single connection allows me to put the strap connector through the hook & loop opening in the RainCoat. If I used a strap that connected on both sides of the camera (as most straps do), I'm not sure that the RainCoat would be nearly as functional as I wouldn't be able to use my strap and the RainCoat at the same time.

2.) I use a Canon 5D mkii, and I keep an EP-EX15 eyepiece extender in my bag at all times (something I did before purchasing the RainCoat). Since the RainCoat has a drawstring closure which seals around the eyepiece of the camera, I found that it's very nearly essential to attatch the EP-EX15 inorder to allow the RainCoat to close properly.

3.) I rarely use the LCD panel on the camera in the field. If I did, I might rate this product slightly lower because it would have to be unsealed on one end in order to allow visual access to the LCD.

All in all, I consider the RainCoat an essential part of my kit, and I wouldn't consider going out into the field without it.

As an added bonus, it also seems to remain relatively dust and oil free (even after hours of use in the field), so I use it to gently brush away dust from my lenses when swapping or storing them. I wouldn't clean lenses with it, but it does a great job of lightly brushing away dust without leaving oils behind.

      Hi

I purchased the big one and bandy quickly swapped it for the smaller one. The moment it came it started to rain so I had a good chance to test it in the rain. First of it works. No problems there. However the zipper broke in the first try. It doesn't come with a manual and best practices. Sure why would you need one right? well if you plan to use it with a 50mm, 85mm or the likes it won't work with a small as it is clumsy to get it fixed and too big. Even if you fix it the zipper gets in the way and the worst part is once the zipper brakes(and i was very gentle) there is no way about it. Therefore other then shielding it from the rain(which you could do with a bag), I don't know what I paid this much for a low a quality product.

I take a lot of photos of storms and wildlife from my truck. In the past, rain is the end of the game for me. The lenscoat rain coat keeps me in the game. Works great, keeps my gear dry.

I haven't used it in the field yet but I've attached it to my Fujifilm X-T1 with the 55-200 telephoto attached and it fits well. I like it because you can access the lens rings by opening the velcro opening under the lens. I only gave it four stars since I haven't used it yet and will add a star once it proves itself.

Comments about RainCoat RS (Rain Sleeve) (Small, Forest Green Camo):

I live right on the ocean on the Central Coast Oregon where it rains almost every day of the year and there are giant waves and tons of saltwater spray. (Of course that's where the great seascape photos are!) This Lens Coat Rain Coat Pro covers my Nikon D4 and the Nikkor 70-200mm, f2.8 lens with room to spare. I can get both hands into the rain coat and operate all the controls on both the camera and the lens. It's well constructed and keeps the rain and salt water off my equipment.

I returned this product since it didn't suit my needs. I bought the small size for my Canon 5D Mk II and 24-104 lens, which is my most commonly used lens. I found it basically too small and difficult to cinch the front closure around the lens. Furthermore, I couldn't close off the backend despite what is shown in the product shots. Normally you would leave it open to operate the camera in light rain. But in a sudden heavy downpour, it would be nice to seal off the end, which you can't do with this size rain sleeve. Finally, I could not close down the front around the lens unless the hood is installed (which, admittedly, you'll likely have on in a rainy situation). But in any case, it does not stay on tightly and the front of the lens can be easily exposed when zooming. The larger size sleeves may resolve some of these problems, but I wouldn't recommend the small size.
