I bought this to replace an entry-level compact Manfrotto tripod for travel. I attach the tripod to my camera bag, so it must be light, compact and easy to use. This tripod meets all those criteria. I like the ball head, the twist-lock legs, and since my favorite color is orange, the anodized accents. The pan-swivel makes taking panoramic photos easier. The materials and machining quality is very good. It's very solid, has a hook from which to hang weight in the center pole, and almost all of the controls give a nice, positive feel. My chief complaint about it is the knob that tightens the clamp on the mounting plate. When you put a camera on the head, the knob sticks out to the side, but there isn't enough clearance to the bottom of the camera to get a really positive twist. It's possible to mount the camera sideways on the plate, but that eliminates the front-back adjustment. Also, it does get a bit wobbly when the center column is extended fully. You may be able to mitigate this by hanging weight from it, I haven't tried yet. Overall, it's an excellent tripod, great value for money.

I travel all of the time, anything from cars and planes to hiking, and this tripod has changed the way I travel! It's tiny, super light, and comes with a padded travel case, what more could you ask for? Well that's where the con comes in... it's not far from being a full size tripod which is nice, especially for its size and weight, but the screw on the quick release plate absolutely will not stay tight!!! As we all know, this is a huge problem! Because of this the tripod is useless unless! There is no stability in the connection to the plate. I am currently in the process of trying to find a solution to this problem because I truly love all of the other features of this tripod. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. I must add as well, the set up/take down is extremely simple and fast!

I bought this tripod for our trip to New Zealand and it does not disappoint! It's light enough to fit into either my carry-on or checked baggage. Any larger or heavier, and I probably would've rued the day I decided to lug it with me. Extremely sturdy and very well-made. I don't fear for my camera's safety when it's mounted on there.

Picked up the Canon EOS M for dirt cheap and wanted a nice portable tripod to match. Chose the MeFOTO based on the majority of reviews and the color options. Find the tripod compact and functional with a nice build quality. A little difficult to get a proper breakdown of the tripod to fit the carrying bag on the first try though. You'll find yourself positioning the head a couple times to get the right fit.

The design of this tripod is fantastic. It feels solid and all the knobs are easy to turn and precise in their operation. This is a great for traveling. I was able to fit it in a small backpack without any inconveniences.

              Cons
Does not feel as solid as other tripods when raised to its maximum height. Nevertheless this would not stop me from recommending it to anyone.

This tripod sets up quickly and provides a solid platform for my Nikon Coolpix A. I love the head with the leveling bubble and the limitless amount of adjustments that the head provides. The unit packs neatly into its own bag and is very easily transported in your backpack or messenger bag.. Very "Big" little tripod. The only thing I would like is if it were a bit lighter... If that's so important spring for a CF one. This is a very versatile well built tripod for the price and I am very happy with my purchase.

Comments about BackPacker Travel Tripod (Orange):

I bought this for family vacations, but find myself using it more and more. As a travel tripod, it has it's limitations. It's maximum height is not that impressive. And it is not a stable as I am used to with the heavier tripods I use for video production.

That being said, it allowed me to produce a number of long exposure shots that I would not have otherwise been able to capture. And, it fits into my photo backpack easily.

If this is going to be your only tripod, I would not recommend it. If this is a second tripod for travel, it fits the bill.

Comments about BackPacker Travel Tripod (Titanium):

I had a MeFoto RoadTrip and hoped the Backpacker would be a great fit for backpacking - as the name suggests. The build quality is excellent. The head supports about 7 lbs, but that is sufficient for most camera/lenses on a hike. One shortcoming is that the minimum height is just under 18 inches. (The RoadTrip can go lower even though it is a larger tripod.) That means it will not be suitable for short wildflowers. I hope MeFoto will release a "fix," but given the permanent placement of the center column, I don't know what that would be. For that reason, the Backpacker was a little disappointing.

Comments about BackPacker Travel Tripod (Titanium):

I searched and searched for the best value and overall best reviews for a travel tripod. I have a full size Induro tripod which is amazing but also very heavy to carry around. After a series of reviews between the Manfrotto BeFree and the MeFoto travel tripod I settled on the MeFoto. It doesn't raise up as hight as the Manfrotto by about 5 inches but won with easier folding up compared to the Manfrotto. The price difference of about $40 also helped. Either way I shoot with a 6D -no grip, and a 24-105 and 70-200 (non-IS, f/4) lenses. I found that with only the first 2 sections of the legs extended and the center column at its lowest point the tripod was still very very unstable. Overall use of the tripod I felt that if I was to let go of my camera at any point the weight would cause the tripod to fall over. I repositioned the legs in front of the lens, behind the body, everything I could think of to get some stabilization. In the end I felt that no matter what I could not be sure that it would not tip over and destroy $2000-$4000 worth of equipment. In the end I will use this tripod for my point and shoot Canon S100 or my iPhone with the MeFoto cell phone holder because I feel thats what it is really equipped to do best or possibly a smaller DLSR such as a Rebel with a 50mm lens. I hope this helps because I feel that too many of these reviews are so over the top positive and don't really give this tripod a true review.

Comments about BackPacker Travel Tripod (Black):

I appreciate the fact that this tripod is compact, includes a ball head, and is priced right. It's about the same weight as my Manfrotto Carbon Fiber tripod, but smaller. Unfortunately, you can't change the ball head for a fluid head for shooting video. Other MeFOTO models have features that add more flexibility if you choose to spend more. This is still a solid tripod for the price.

Comments about BackPacker Travel Tripod (Green):

This tripod is very light weight and takes up very little space when folded up, making it great for carry-ons. I love the color options that they offer and it is a very attractive design. Some people might not care about that but I find that a plus. I used the tripod with my Sony NEX-3n and it is very sturdy, even in windy conditions. Overall I highly recommended this product.

Comments about BackPacker Travel Tripod (Titanium):

I purchased this tripod for travel requirements. I'm often in a situation where I think "I really wish I had a tripod for this" but hate the thought of lugging around something big and awkward. This tripod fits into my suitcase without taking up much space at all, and is light as a feather.

The height when fully extended is good. I am about 5'10" so have to lean over a little to look into my DSLR's viewfinder, but that's fine and not too much of a hassle.

The included ball head is excellent - why didn't I get one sooner? You can adjust sensitivity so that you have just the right amount of requirement movement to adjust for those delicate compositions.

It's very stable, being able to hold my Nikon D7000 with power pack and various lenses just fine (including a Sigma 70-200mm F2.8). The tripod main support has a hook that you can hang your camera bag from to add extra stability - a nice touch if you're shooting in somewhat windy conditions.

Highly recommend this travel tripod - very convenient and stable.

Somewhat of an odd design from the full size tripods I'm used to, but then it has to be to fold up so small. Not an incredibly stable tripod, of course that is the compromise on size and weight. Better than hand holding.

Light, compact and yet provides good support for D5200.Good color options. The tripod comes with a carrying case making it good for travel when restricted by weight @ carrying my normal tripod is not possible.

I am an older woman who has just about stopped using my tripod because it was so heavy and hard to minipulate. Not with this one. My camera and favorite lens weigh almost 7 pounds. It works great on this tripod. The tripod is well made, easy to assemble, so light weight and tiny folded in its case. It's a true winner.

Comments about BackPacker Travel Tripod (Hot Pink):

I took my MeFOTO backpacker tripod on a trip last week. I love it! It is small and sturdy enough for me (I have a mirrorless camera). I don't mind unscrewing the 4 sections of the legs because I just kept it set up and put it in the trunk of the car between stops. The pink color got a lot of comments. Some people thought the pink was really cool, others seemed to think it's not "professional" enough. I don't care - I really like it. The quality seems quite good for a small travel tripod. My only "complaint" is that the plate that attaches the camera to the tripod needed tightening with a nickel several times. But when tightened enough, it stayed. I'm very happy I bought this tripod even though I have a larger Manfrotto for other situations.
