This adapter ring fits the Lee 4" (100mm) filter holders. This adapter ring places the filter holder somewhat closer to the lens than the standard adapter ring. This is necessary for certain wide angle lenses to avoid vignetting.

Comments about LEE Filters Adapter Ring - 72mm - for Wide Angle Lenses:
There are two types of Lee adapter rings: aluminum and a sort of fibrous plastic. The aluminum, aka "wide angle," are far better regardless of whether you put it on a wide angle lens or not for the simple reason that they are machined better and actually work with Lee attachments as opposed to the plastic variety which barely work or don't work at all and will need to be returned. Why? The plastic ones outer flange is about one millimeter too big!
The plastic ones have one advantage: a spring-loaded lens cap which fits on the filter threads of any given lens will also fit on the inside of a Lee plastic adapter of the same size. With the wide angle Lee adapter such a lens cap may or may not fit depending on its depth.
So if this were a review of the plastic Lee adapter I would give it one star only.
