I am getting ready to gear up for my independent feature and I was looking for a good shoulder mount to put my Canon t4i as my B-cam. Now that I have the Flyweight I couldn't be happier with the product. It a solid, professional looking, light weight rig that is affordable when compared to other shoulder mounts that can cost up to $1,000 or more. A cool feature that comes with the Flyweight rig is the weight bag; it comes empty so you have the option to make it as heavy as you wish. It's by far one of the best purchases I have made for my video gear.

not the greatest stabilizer out there, but not the worst. I comes "with key components preassembled for your convenience..." but I still had to do a bit of looking to decipher the instructions. Not hard, but it was a bit annoying. The lack of a counterweight seems like it should be a good thing; but finding the right kind of weight to fit this rig was harder than I first imagined. It's alright for the money; but I wouldn't buy it again.

The Ikan is very durable and lightweight to use with a DSLR camera. I can't believe how easy it is to tighten and loosen the screws to change the placement of plate, handles and rails.

I use this ring for interviews and handheld shots for narrative films and it's pretty good for the price. I am happy with it so far. Don't hesitate to add weight in the back pocket it helps to balance it.

I use this product when trying to get smooth moving shots. I like its weight, and ease of assembly, there are a lot of options available for mounting stuff to this setup. The only thing about it I don't like is that handles, they aren't that comfortable, but other than that it is rock solid.

Comments about ikan Flyweight DSLR Camera Stabilizer:

The product is amazing. Easily customizable, they give you all the tools to basically dismount it and remount it the way you want it.

I moved the backplate(where the counterweight goes) back a little bit because it was restraining me to move the shoulder pad in the position I prefer, which is a little more forward.

The handles feel solid as does the all the tightening knobs. Everything is made out of aluminum, and everything feels durable and sturdy.

The mounting plate is solid, with plenty of different sizes to mount your quick-release plate.

Given the prices for shoulder rigs, this one is a steal.

I really like the general feel of the rig. It is quite nicely constructed and really improves the look of the video for amateurs.

I had a problem with the handles always becoming loose no matter how tight i attach them though.

Ikan´s shoulder-rig works fine with me. They could have given me the weights on the back for free when i buy it, but i have to buy them separated. It does not fit as comfortable on my shoulder than i thought, but that can be my shoulder to. I would recommend you to buy it!

I modified this product to offset using extra rails. Shooting on the Blackmagic Cinema Camera, this rig is very durable for the price. The shoulder pad is comfortable, lightweight and reversible which makes it awesome to customize. The only drawback for me was the handles. They very easily become loose and you must remove them from the rig to re-tighten. I actually added a spring washer to mine to give a bit more tension, seems to have done the trick for the most part.

The Ikan Flyweight Rig is great! Easy to assemble and feels very professional. This same rig would cost more $ ... if it was not from ikan. They do great work and made affordable equipment that is professional grad. The only complaint i would make would be the shoulder mount... it would be nice if it wrapped a bit more around the back of my shoulder for a better support but the counter weight bag helps.

Decent for the price. Decent construction, decent engineering. They seemed to slack on the engineering when it came to the shoulder mount. The photos are misleading, it DOES NOT stand on it's own, especially with the weight bag. The whole shoulder piece is poorly designed. The padding does not fit properly. And I have no idea how the weight bag gets attached. It seems to be mounted different in every photo I see. And when it is on there, it's pretty loose. But you can easily devise a DIY way to attach more firmly.

Also, the thumb screws strip very easily. I stripped three within minutes, without excessive force. Customer support was very helpful and promptly sent replacements.

Beyond those issues, for the price it's a nice unit and works well, and is reasonably comfortable. It's seems pretty sturdy and adequately adjustable.

                            Solid. Light weight. Affordable.

Comments about ikan Flyweight DSLR Camera Stabilizer:

I am getting ready to gear up for my independent feature and I was looking for a good shoulder mount to put my Canon t4i as my B-cam. Now that I have the Flyweight I couldn't be happier with the product. It a solid, professional looking, light weight rig that is affordable when compared to other shoulder mounts that can cost up to $1,000 or more. A cool feature that comes with the Flyweight rig is the weight bag; it comes empty so you have the option to make it as heavy as you wish. It's by far one of the best purchases I have made for my video gear.
