I was shocked when I discovered that a battery charger was not included with the TG3. I made an assumption I should not have made, but I have never bought a camera that did not include a charger. It is a nuisance to have to charge a battery in camera, especially since it it always good to have a spare.

Now first of all it's already bad that Olympus didn't build its TG1 without a charger like Canon does, i.e. a small battery charger with collapsible AC blades which connects directly into the wall socket. It forces you instead to charge the battery while in the camera using a cumbersome connection of 2 wires and a voltage converter (provided in the box). This means you can't use the camera while the battery is charging and if you want the 'luxury' of having two batteries charged, you need to keep the camera out of use for at least 4 hours.
So one decides to spend an additional 60 dollars (about 15% of the cost of the camera) just to buy this charger only to discover that it doesn't connect to the wall socket but has only a USB cable which forces you to still go around with the voltage converter and an additional cable to plug into the wall. Basically you still need 3 tools to charge the battery (although now outside the camera) and these 3 tools put together are much bulkier than the camera itself!!!! Shame on you Olympus for being so stingy and designing products like this.
And Bhphoto please indicate in the description that this charger has only a USB plug!!!

Comments about Olympus UC-90 USB Battery Charger for Tough TG-1 iHS Cameras:

I took a chance and ordered this charger for my Olympus Tough 3-G which uses the thicker LI-92B battery. The charger was made for the LI-90B but will also fit and charge the LI-92B. Another thing I like about it is the attached USB cord. That's one less cord I have to pack.

Comments about Olympus UC-90 USB Battery Charger for Tough TG-1 iHS Cameras:

OK,it works as advertised, but I could not give it 5 stars. One, it is way too expensive for what it is and does. You could afford another battery for that price and likely not need this charger for most purposes. Also, for the money, you could (and I did) buy a cell phone battery backup which could recharge a battery many times via the (camera included) USB connector into the camera if only the USB charger/connector was universal and not proprietary (it won't work with a non-Olympus USB adapter wall plug either). You have to have this expensive proprietary charger to recharge the camera battery using a battery backup. So what, you say? Well, when you plan on being in the wild for weeks at a time and want to take lots of photos, you either buys lots of camera batteries or get a battery backup. If you don't have a wall plug, you're buying this thing. That said, kudos to B&H Photo for the best price and delivery time anywhere.

Nice product and is from the camera manufacturer. Only beef I have is that it would be nice to have a longer plug. Way too short.

This allows you to charge the battery outside the camera. So you can charge a battery, while still using your camera. Or, you can charge two batteries at the same time, one in the UC-90, one in the camera.

Comments about Olympus UC-90 USB Battery Charger for Tough TG-1 iHS Cameras:

I use this as a backup battery charger. It's compact and lightweight. The USB connector slides into a pocket when the charger isn't in use. It does not have an AC capability, but Olympus makes another accessory, the F-3AC AC adapter, that gives a good AC work around. So far, I'm very pleased with this product.

Bought this charger so I wouldn't have to charge the battery in the camera while overseas. It worked great!

I really wish it had an AC plug built in to the unit, and wasn't just for USB charging. But I brought the AC plug-in unit that came with the camera (also lightweight and compact) so it wasn't that big of an issue.
