Comments about Crucial 256 GB 7 mm m4 2.5" Solid State Internal Drive:

I bought this SSD for a new system I was building and if you have a Motherboard that Supports 6 Gbps SATA and an Operating System you will be very impressed. I used this as my primary / boot drive for Windows 7 Ultimate and it load from post to logon in about 7 second!

**NOTE** Be advised that if you update the firmware make sure you do it before you load any data on it or back everything up as you WILL loose all of your data on it.

Great acquisition for my Samsung Series 5 Ultrabook.
It made a huge difference after I have installed it. Very easy to install and to replicate the content of the previous HD. I really recomend this HD.

Comments about Crucial 256 GB 7 mm m4 2.5" Solid State Internal Drive:

Two factors influencing my decision to get this SSD. One – Reliability and Another – Price.

I nearly went for OCZ Vertex 3 or 4 but the reviews on these drives are disappointing. You could simply browse the facts online through Google. The Sandforce Controller is well known to have reliability problems with most motherboards and OCZ issues so many major firmware updates in the past months to rectify this. And the decision for OCZ to go for Indilinx might have a connection with the Sandforce as well – just my opinion. And OCZ Vertex 4 with Indilinx controller is also suffering from compatibility issues with some motherboards.

The sheer speed provided by the Sandforce Controller is based on heavy data compression as compared to Marvel base controller such as that found in Crucial SSDs which does not differentiate the data at all regardless of the compression. So Crucial will excel in both compressed and non compressed data handling.

Crucial SSD is also reasonably price and could be the cheapest one if you go for the largest 512GB capacity. The 256GB provides the most optimised performance of any SSD size, so this explains my choice.

My advice before purchasing this SSD is that please browse the CRUCIAL website as it provides compatibility detection method for your computer and provides the necessary recommendation wisely. You can also download other beneficial PDF files such as installation, firmware update guidelines and others.

My SSD is shipped with the latest 000F firmware so that I do not have to update it any further. Some previous firmware might be suffering from BSODs issue but this one rectifies the problem.

Installation is a breeze, simple and easy depending on the computer you use. This is a standard size 2.5 inch SSD and a plug and play device.

B&H is always my first choice for online orders. I reside in the other part of the world, Brunei Darussalam, and the delivery from New York to my country merely takes 5 days – a tremendously efficient service of any company that I have known.
