Comments about Crucial 512 GB m4 2.5" Solid State Drive with Data Transfer Kit (7mm):

I purchased a new laptop at the same time as this drive. Installed this drive with a fresh install of WIN 7. Everything ran great from purchase date (09-12-2013) until the first crash (01-20-2013). Reinstalled the system (losing all data) and it ran great until 3 days later when it crashed AGAIN. Swapped out the drive with a seagate 7200 and have had no problems since with minimal speed difference. Took the drive and reformatted it to use as a backup drive. Worked great until it crashed again. Junk. This is a colossal waste of money, stick with optical until they perfect these or go with another brand. Don't take my word for it, do your own blind net search on Crucial SSD Failure Rate. You'll see that at best it's around 7-10% and at worst 25-40%. I tend to believe (from all available data researched) that it actually falls around 20%. Way too high for me. Try this scenario out: You go to a retail store. They have a display of 5 of these drives. They have a sign that says one of them is going to fail within 120 days. They give you a choice of which drive you buy out of the 5. They also tell you that if you get the bad one you own it, no warranty ro return. Would you pick one out of a pile of 5 drives hoping you didn't get the lemon? Probably not. Use your own judgement.

Comments about Crucial 512 GB m4 2.5" Solid State Drive with Data Transfer Kit (7mm):

After struggling with disk space on my late-2010 MacBook Pro 256GB SSD for the past 6 months I've just replaced the drive with this 512GB m4 SSD. Results are great - business as usual. I followed the software instruction for cloning my drive ..........Read lots of reviews before this purchase. The Crucial m4 offers great value for money. The geeks who go on and on about speed are really just looking at numbers - reality is that my laptop was super fast before the install and is just as fast now and handles graphic design and video software like a breeze.Oh and it arrived from B&H to NZ within 4 days.
