Comments about Acer Aspire V3-551-8809-US 15.6" Notebook Computer (Midnight Black):
I use the PC daily, mostly for Email, but also for Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Quicken. And of course the internet. The PC was very easy to set-up, and it is faster than my previous one. The mouse touchpad is problematic, but the reviews all indicated that would be the case.

Comments about Acer Aspire V3-551-8809-US 15.6" Notebook Computer (Midnight Black):
I use this notebook for software development on Ubuntu, for which it works great. For this, my only concerns are (1) the touch pad buttons do not function when pressed near the middle -- you must press at the outside edges, and (2) the battery life could be longer -- the power-efficient hardware was offset by a lower-capacity battery.
The Windows installation comes with an incredible amount of unnecessary software. My Asus laptops came with much less and more useful software.
The touchpad software on Windows disables the touchpad for about 0.5 seconds after a keystroke, which can prevent the accidental clicking while typing, but for people like me is more likely to simply prevent you from using the touchpad and keyboard in quick succession (goodbye graphics design/gaming without a mouse). I could not find a way to disable this feature. I assume uninstalling the touchpad software might work, but haven't tried that yet. The touchpad could be moved a smidgen to the right to align with the home row keys instead of the spacebar.
On a more positive note, the display is very bright! The keyboard makes satisfying clicking noises, and the Fn key and arrow keys are well-placed. The price is right, particularly for a Blu-Ray laptop. USB 3 and BT 4.0. You can play some games at medium-low quality. I got a free copy of DiRT 3 (which attached to my Steam account -- awesome) with my order and it looks and runs great (though you have to give some information about yourself to get it). No complaints about performance.
Oh, and one last thing: there's no light beside the webcam that notifies you if it's turned on. For piece of mind, I recommend installing some software that notifies you when the webcam has been turned on.
I give this product three stars -- it's a great computer, but could use a better touchpad, a lot less bloatware (acre pls), a better battery, and a webcam light. With these fixes, this computer could be an easy 5-star.
