With the Concealed Boom Durable Stand from Galaxy Audio, you can quickly and easily make a standard straight microphone stand into a fully adjustable boom stand. The patented boom storage lets the boom be concealed inside the extendable upright shaft for use as a standard straight mic stand. The boom will quickly and easily adjust out to convert to a boom arm stand -- you won't need any extra pieces or parts. Thanks to the five disc anti-slip cam, the boom arm can hold up to two pounds when it's fully extended. Additionally, the microphone stand has an aluminum alloy base and durable clutch design.

Nice and very compact, does not go high

Comments about Galaxy Audio Concealed Boom Durable Stand:

Very well designed and actually surprisingly solid. Great stand for all around utility, getting very low and packing small - 2 of these fit in the space of a standard boom stand. If you're looking to double-purpose it for sit-down interviews (TV/FILM) it will not get high enough, bummer because it's a great compact stand - but works flawlessly for mic'ing instruments and vocalists.

Comments about Galaxy Audio Concealed Boom Durable Stand:

Normally I wouldn't bother to write about a mic stand - Mic stands are mic stands, some sturdy, some flimsy, some well made, some crummy - easy to tell the difference. But the Galaxy Audio Standformer is not only something new, it's nicely made and does the job well.

It's a mic stand with a tripod base and boom, but unlike most boom stands where the boom is a separate piece (and is often purchased separately), the boom is an integral part of the design. What's clever about it is how the swivel joint is designed. It's offset so that when the boom is turned vertcal (in line with the vertical shaft), it can be collapsed into the shaft, making it look and function like a conventional straight stand with adjustable height.

When the boom section is pulled out of the vertical section and rotated around the swivel, it acts as a conventional boom. So you get both a boom stand and a straight stand in one unit.

There are two models which differ in the height of the vertical section. I got the short one, with the idea that it would be right for a seated performer, either for a vocal or instrument mic, and would also serve as either a boom or straight stand for a standing performe. The taller version would be useful for getting mics higher up for applications such as orchestral recording, but I was looking for something for stage use.

I work a lot of folk festivals where I often don't know whether the performer coming on stage will be sitting or standing until he gets there. With this stand, I can accommodate either without having the stand look awkward.

When packing up, with the boom fully collapsed into the vertical shaft, the stand it more compact than a more common tripod base stand with a separate boom, and it appears to be less subject to mishandling when stashed away.

If I had my druthers, I'd like to see the boom with two telescoping sections so that it could be shorter (it's about 2 feet long) when that length isn't needed.

I don't beat up my mic stands so this is the first new one I've purchased in about 30 years. I'm inclined to pick up a few more.
