Yamaha's BD-S473BL Blu-ray 3D Player (Black) is a full HD 1080p 3D disc player with support for Internet streaming. This media format is capable of holding up to five times that of DVDs and outputs a maximum of 1920 x 1080 pixels (1080p).
The BD-S473BL supports various multimedia functions and an Ethernet port for home networking. Videos, music, and photos stored can now be incorporated into your main entertainment system. The BD-S473BL's Ethernet port also supports Internet radio, video on demand via Netflix or YouTube Leanback. The Ethernet port opens up the interactive, content-rich world of BD-Live --you'll have access to Blu-ray extras like filmmaker chats, quizzes and previews. It also supports BONUSVIEW for picture-in-picture displays of multiple sources, with one in a smaller window. Connectivity on the BD-S473BL is rounded out by two USB ports that let you play media from a variety of storage devices.
This player supports content encoded in HD formats like AVCHD and DivX Plus HD, and all standard definition video can be upscaled via HDMI to widescreen 1080p. As well as handling 3D video, the HDMI output also supports lossless audio from Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD.

Comments about Yamaha BD-S473BL Blu-ray 3D Player (Black):
I purchased this player to be used with a Toshiba 3D LED HDTV. So far, I am very happy with the purchase. The 3D playback is excellent (especially with IMAX 3D DVDs) and the up conversion is really fast. The "zoom" feature on the remote is really nice.
I think the load time is about normal for a single blu-ray player like this one. I would definitely recommend this player to anyone looking for a really good single disc blu-ray player for under $250 bucks. Can't wait for Yamaha to start making 3D LED HDTVs.

Comments about Yamaha BD-S473BL Blu-ray 3D Player (Black):
This guy does what I needed it to do. I went with Yamaha to match my existing RX-A3000 receiver. It isn't the exact "Aventage" line, but still looks quite nice in the rack next to the receiver.
It is missing some of the high-end stuff, such as remote/trigger in/out, analog multichannel, etc... also, the display isn't terribly informative.
Good news though, is that it's a great deal for the money. Load time is extremely quick, the network jack works fine for Netflix, and the interface is quite slick. Even the remote feels good. Firmware upgrade is not terribly intuitive; the built-in auto updater complains about not finding connection to a server, and I can't find any firmware on the yamaha site to download, so I'm stuck with the factory for now. No big deal.
If I had the money (and the other components to really take advantage of it), I'd go for the Adventage model, but on a budget, I have no regrets. Would suggest to a friend.
