The Sony 64GB XQD Memory Card S Series is a high-speed, high-performance flash memory card. Not only does it outpace traditional CompactFlash (CF) cards--even UDMA 7 compliant cards--it improves upon the H Series XQD card with an increased read/write speed of up to 168MB/s. These transfer rates are achieved via the PCIe interface, a computer expansion card standard for serial interfaces. When used with the Nikon D4 DSLR camera, the card is capable of capturing up to 108 frames in continuous RAW shooting. It has a data storage capacity of 64GB for saving your work and your memories.
Using an optional USB 2.0 / 3.0 compatible XQD card reader (MRW-E80) or an XQD ExpressCard adapter (QDA-EX1), both of which are sold separately, you can quickly and easily transfer large amounts of data, such as RAW files, to a PC. A driver for Thunderbolt-enabled devices, available via download as of August 2012, will allow you to transfer files to Mac computer systems, as well. File Rescue Software (ver. 3.2) supports RAW and MOV files captured with the Nikon D4. This, too, will be available for download as of August.

Comments about Sony 64GB XQD Memory Card S Series:
As a professional Nature photographer, I was never completely satisfied with memory cards in general because since I shoot uncompressed Raw Files, I often encountered a problem with cards buffering after a continuous Raw shooting (ex: shooting birds on the wing)
But all that changed after I received a 16GB XQD "S" Series Card by Sony as a bonus for NPS members who ordered the first Nikon flagship cameras: the D4 !
Since my job takes me around the world-sometimes to desolate locales, I decided to but a few of the Sony 64GB XQD "S" Series Cards which paid off in many situations, especially when I would be in a remote area ...
In addition, I also enjoy shooting Video footage with my 36 Megapixels Nikon D800!
Before I started using this card, I was strictly using "Compact Flash" Cards as I was not convinced using the "Secure Digital" type since their metal contact part was too exposed;
Now I have both worlds: Speed and Security which is a must in my business!
Now I can truly say that I will probably never miss a great shot again:
No more waiting for a slow card to upload Raw Files,
No missing another opportunity due to changing cards in the middle of a shoot.
Finally, having a piece of mind knowing that images captured are safe and secure until I get to my Laptop.

Comments about Sony 64GB XQD Memory Card S Series:
When I got my D4 I was a little hesitant to use the new (for me) XQD slot. I had always used Lexar and San Disc CF cards for their speed, and was worried that the new XQD, despite Sony's reputation, would be a potentially fatal decision. It also forces me to carry and additional XQD reader as normal memory card readers do not support the format.
I begun by using the XQD as a backup for my Lexar 32GB CF card (despite it having twice the capacity), and on the first photo shoot the Lexar card had some issues (the were quite a few photos that failed to save properly), and I was so glad I had this card. I became an instant Sony XQD fan, and I now use these cards as primary and am so confident I only use the Lexar as overflow.
