The Vanguard Alta Pro 254 Carbon Fiber Tripod With SBH-50 Ball Head includes a tripod made of 6X carbon fiber to provide a lightweight but sturdy and versatile camera support. It extends to 64.6", and folds down to only 23.6" which makes it easy to attach to a gear bag, or backpack.

The included SBH-50 ball head is compact (3.5"), lightweight (10.2 oz), and features 2 bubble levels for precision attitude adjustment. It also has a safety locking system for quick release, and a single knob locking mechanism. It supports cameras, lenses and camcorders up to 13.2 lb. This head increases camera stability and provides faster, more accurate camera positioning.

The four-section legs, which can be independently positioned at 25, 50 and 80 degrees, add to this tripod's versatile positioning capabilities. The legs are quickly secured into their position with one-twist leg locks.

The tripod's center column has a tilting bracket which can rotate a full 360 degrees from a standard vertical position. It is a key feature to help you position the tripod and your equipment at unusual angles. Plus, the column is spring-loaded to provide your equipment with protection against shocks. The column comes with a retractable weight hook from which you can attach a gear bag for added stability on any terrain.

Vanguard's Single Piece Ball Unit Technology incorporates the ball and stem of the ball head into one solid unit which provides a core strength that's resistant to degradation from everyday use. The ball head's Advanced Magnesium Housing System couples a rugged magnesium exterior with a hollow interior to provide the precision, fluid-like movements of a standard head minus extraneous weight. The SBH-50 is supplied with two QS-39 quick release plates so you can easily alternate cameras on and off the ball head.

The Alta Pro 254CT is a popular choice for those who need a tripod that is flexible and easy to set up. It meets the needs for landscape, wide angle and macro photography and a wide range of other applications.

If you want the most bang for your buck, the whole Vanguard Alta Pro line is unsurpassed.I purchased an Alta Pro 283 CB 100 for my heavy Canon 7D plus 70-200 lens. Couldn't be more satisfied. My wife shoots a Canon Rebel 3ti, lighter--and so is she. We checked her cam out on my tripod and it was overkill for her cam and carrying ability, so we searched for a more compact and lighter tripod.Aha! The solution seemed to be the Alta Pro 254 SB-50. I wondered about downgrading to the SB-50 ball head, not knowing. But, for the lighter Rebel, it is rock solid and presents itself as rugged and smooth as the SB-100. And! And I don't know why, other than Vanguards superlative engineering, the little tripod is rock solid stable. All this in a compact, light weight machine that my beautiful, little wife can carry no sweat. If I had another wife, we would have bought two! Can't say enough for the Vanguard Alta Pro series. The line presents solutions for every need. The BH guys will guide you to selecting the right one for your needs. They are awesome.

I bought this cool little transformer tripod for my product shots. I was disappointed at how small it was- but the desc. does mention the inches, so be sure to read, unlike me.

The versatility of being able to situate your camera at a million different angles- and quickly with mostly knobs (only one lever)- is a beautiful thing. It has two bubble levels built in to help. However because of its lightweight features, the thinness of its legs and the small ball head make it easy to topple over with just my Canon 7D or 5D Mk3 and a 100MM macro lens. Make sure one leg is under your camera. The ball head is pretty terrible though; I have to aim the camera over the product so by the time I tighten the ball as much as I can & let go, I've compensated for the weight of the camera dropping down slightly.

This tripod seems best for a point & shoot or a light camcorder, unless you don't mind struggling with it &/or have some counter weights at hand. I'm sure I would have known that if I would've read the specs in better detail.

Fantastic tripod. Real value for money. Ball head is really STILL, even with a 70-200 kind of heavy lens. Awesone for macro and low shots too. If u get it on deal , make sure you buy one.

This tripod can hold my Canon 5D but is very light. Comes with a carry bag and an extra head. I bought another head not knowing it came with 2. The only negative I would say is the screw adjusting legs. I prefer the latch locking type. It literally moves in so many positions that that is a small complaint.

This is a well built, sturdy, lightweight tri-pod. Only con is that with my heavier lens/camera attached, there is a bit of drift when trying to use an upward angle to shoot. Leg extenstions very easy to use, just a quarter twist and each section pulls out easily.

This is a well designed tripod. Three legs are carbon fiber but the central column is not.

I like its flexibility. It gives you freedom to shoot at any angle.

One complaint is the bullhead doesn't come off. I tried...

Got this for a deal. Not sure if I wanna buy it at regular price.

This is just right to fit in a 22" Bag, and light enough. It is way more tripod than needed to support Sony A7R with 70-200 lens. Perfect combo for mirrowless cameras and air travel. The center column is extremely usable and is great for macro work

Tripod is very well made, looks sturdy and is stable even when expanded to the max. Love center column versatility and all little details like spikes in feets. However I wish it was a bit lighter. With a sbh-50head it weights over 4 pounds. So if your'e looking for light travel tripod look somewhere else ( sirui t-25x is a good choice or vanguard Alta+ 225cb). Still very happy with a purchase and would recommend to anyone who needs stable and well made tripod with a reasonable price tag.

Comments about Vanguard Alta Pro 254 Carbon Fiber Tripod With SBH-50 Ball Head:

I thought the tripod to be extremely stable and the operation simple and easy to manage while still looking through a viewfinder. It has three level bubbles which really helps with orientation when doing panoramas or just taking scenic photos. I added this tripod to a collection of two others because of its weight saving carbon fiber and was not disappointed in its light feel.

This is beautifully designed allowing a lot of flexibility in an amazingly compact (when folded)and lightweight package. The tilt column opens up a world of possibilities particularly for the product or macro shooter. The legs tilt out allowing do low level shooting workout a lot of hassle. I would like to see this equipped with an arca mount but there is an extra mounting plate included. All in all a well thought out, nicely designed, versatile, incredibly light weight trips that would make a great accessory for backpackers or those that hike in a distance for their photography. 5 or of 5 over all.

Comments about Vanguard Alta Pro 254 Carbon Fiber Tripod With SBH-50 Ball Head:

Bought this tripod when it was featured as a daily deal for a great price. I was impressed how solid it was when I deployed it for the first time. It deploys quickly. When you align the bubbles, the head moves slightly when you cinch it down. The head itself has a quality feel, all thick magnesium and the base has a lot of metal too. However, I noticed the head had some lateral play when I panned the head. I removed the head from the base and removed the bottom plate. I noticed 4 screws and 2 nuts were very loose. I tightened screws and nuts and remounted the head. It was fine after that. Its a remarkably solid tripod for its size and weight. I have not used the articulating head yet, but I did notice when tilted, the ball head could not hold up my Nikon D750 and my very heavy 70-200 telephoto. But the head did work great when not tilted. The head was able to hold the camera tilted with normal size lenses. The tripod comes with a shoulder strapped vinyl bag which does appear to be the same quality as the tripod. Overall, I am very happy with this tripod and intend to take it along for my adventures.

I'm a casual photographer and this tripod might have been a little overkill but I got it on a daily deal for cheap so extremely worth it. It's really light which is awesome and it's easy to carry around. I don't think the bag is too hot that comes with it, but i've seen some creative ways to carry this thing

I was really impressed with the build quality of this tripod. It exceeded my expectations. What really stands out is the center section and its ability to be pulled out and used horizontal. Great great tripod of the money.

Very nice product. If anything it might be helpful if there was a better way to compare multiple products at the same time. Since there are at least 1000 different makes and models I see the problem. However I probaby had 40 hours or research in choosing this product.

very useful in both product shoot and in my traveling and shooting landscapes. it's light weight and compact so it won't be a worry when traveling but sturdy enough to carry the weight of my camera. it was a good investment for me.

Comments about Vanguard Alta Pro 254 Carbon Fiber Tripod With SBH-50 Ball Head:
