The black Keyhole Hands-Free Camera Harness from Back Country Solutions offers you a way to hike, bike, ski or snowshoe while holding your camera safe and steady, solidly against your body. The harness is unique in design since it provides a way to prevent what usually happens to cameras when attached to typical backpack or chest harness straps. Traditional harnesses don't eliminate "swing" so you find yourself trying to both hold your camera steady while trying to use trekking poles. Or, if you're scrambling up a hill, your camera bounces any which way while you're trying to grab a rock to make it to the next ledge.

The Keyhole is designed to hold your camera and lens firmly attached to your backpack or chest harness, with the lens facing downward and held steady with no swing. The design includes a special cap keeper attached to the Keyhole that prevents your lens from swaying from side to side. Yet, when you're ready to shoot, there's no complicated hardware to unhook or adjust to get your camera into shooting position. Perhaps one of the best features of this system is its ability to limit the strain of your camera on your neck. In addition, with your lens held tightly against your body, there's less chance of it banging into a rock, bush or the ground.

The Keyhole attaches quickly and efficiently and is made from durable polypropylene straps and a hard plastic plate into which your camera slides. Screw the included Keyhole knob into the camera's 1/4 - 20 tripod socket. This knob then slides neatly into the slot of the hard plastic Keyhole plate. Use the included quick attach sternum strap adjusters that attach the Keyhole harness to your backpack or chest harness straps. The buckles come with four male connectors that mesh with the female connectors found on your backpack's straps. Adjust the straps so the fit is tight and comfortable. Finally, hook up the touch fastened cap keeper to your existing lens cap. The cap keeper can also be used to make sure your lens cap never disappears-as lens cap tend to do too often. When you're ready to shoot, simply remove the cap keeper and raise the camera slightly to remove it from the Keyhole's slot. After shooting, replace the knob in the slot, reattach the cap keeper and you're ready to move on. The Keyhole comes with a one-year warranty and is proudly made in the USA.

Comments about Keyhole Hands-Free Camera Harness (Black):

Almost a winner. It is functional, but deeply flawed. The material and ergonomic shortcomings will not want me want to wear this for hours at a time sweating up steep trails, 2000' to 6000' while carrying a pack of 20 to 45 lbs. Chafing will be a serious issue. Its durability is also in question.

But the fact is that what I received is prototype quality at best. Its obvious this is a Mom and Pop operation put together in their garage. A materials and design upgrade and $10 higher price point would make the product solid.

        1) The webbing straps are very low grade polypropylene.
This is designed to attach to backpacks. It should match the industry standard of nylon webbing which holds up over a long time and is softer. The melted ends are pokey and sharp. This webbing will not last either. The bar tacks are cheap as well. The buckles are also very low grade plastic.

        2) The screw in camera mount is ergonomically deficient.

It is too thick and pokes my sternum.support This is not good for supporting a DSLR and zoom lens of more than 2 lbs weight. The plastic part which protrodes behind the plastic support plate measures 1/4" !!

This should be replaced with 3/32" aluminum or stainless steel and a rubber coating.

        Please refine this product.

Could not figure out how to hook it up. Thought it was going to be a simple harness, turned out to be a complex process of hooking it up to a back pack. Not what I wanted

I bought this for riding my mountain bike and keeping my Nikon D3100 safe while I ride. I keep the strap wrapped around my neck just in case but even doing jumps the camera stays solid. The harness has two buckles on the left side so you can still take your bag off easily, and is super comfortable on me. Takes a little bit to get used to getting the key into hole all the time but it's great product

I bought this product about a month ago for a hiking trip to New Zealand. During the trip I used it everyday. What a brilliant invention. It allowed me to keep the camera out and ready at all times so that I took more pictures than I anticipated due to it's ease of use. Great product!

I use this product while hiking. It is a great way to prevent the camera from swinging freely while walking on uneven terrain where hiking or trekking poles are needed. It secures the camera to my chest, yet it allows for quick easy access for taking photos. Another feature is that it prevents the camera from "dangling" when bending over. The product is a great value for the money, when compared to comparable products for a greater price. I heartily recommend this product.
