The Sonos PLAY:3 All-in-One Wireless Music Player / Speaker (Black) delivers digital music with HiFi sound. It works by connecting to an Internet source via Ethernet cable or Bridge (sold separately). Once connected, you can play your music from your music library or stream music from Internet Radio stations, as well as Internet music services.
The PLAY:3 features a three driver speaker system with three dedicated amplifiers - one for each driver. There's one tweeter, two mid-range drivers and one bass radiator. If one room or one speaker isn't enough, you can expand wirelessly by adding Sonos players all over your home. You can enjoy multi-room simultaneous streaming or a different music source from each player. For added flexibility, you can control your PLAY:3 remotely via Android device, iPhone, iPod touch or iPad.

Comments about Sonos PLAY:3 All-in-One Wireless Music Player / Speaker (Black):
I grouped two Play:3 speakers with my Soundbar and they work great. Definitely need to add the Sonos subwoofer at some point but otherwise a very cool system - no complaints!

Comments about Sonos PLAY:3 All-in-One Wireless Music Player / Speaker (Black):
I gave this item as a gift but also get to use it too. It is really easy to set up and link in musice from itunes and amazon cloud. The only down side is that google play is not compatible, but I have more music in amazon cloud so I don't miss it that much. I found the interface to be really intunitive, and I hardly ever say that about technology. It had good sound quality and the 3 can go really loud. I want one in every room.

Comments about Sonos PLAY:3 All-in-One Wireless Music Player / Speaker (Black):
Add Sonos speakers to the long list of poorly executed wireless technology. In the case of Sonos, the system fails not because the speaker sounds lousy. It's a good enough speaker if you're playing MP3s. And the wireless works as well as most wireless -- with the usual interruptions and flakiness that unfortunately don't lend themselves well to audio playback. The system fails because Sonos will only allow you to use the speaker wirelessly through a poorly conceived proprietary iTunes-like application. Why!? Why?! Why?!Why do they think that people want to add ANOTHER stinking music manager application to iTunes, WinAmp, Windows Media or whatever else people may ALREADY use to manage their music? Why do they think I want to spend a gazillion hours retooling my audio for their average speaker system?! Argh! They could have designed their application to simply route outbound audio to their wireless transmitter, but they chose to build a clumsy and MANDATORY music library application instead. They chose to force their customers to redo what most of us have been doing already with the EXISTING clumsy software. So what I've ended up with is a speaker (which you can't turn off, by the way; it's always on) which requires me to connect a minijack to it if I want to play iTunes, or a CD, or video, or audio from any other source than their terrible player. There are a lot of good speakers out there for $ which would've been a better value than this.To cut Sonos some slack, I'll acknowledge that if you're willing to commit 100% to this system for playback that it will allow you to play your music library wirelessly and I don't really know what the "better" options are. They have management functions which allow you to play different music on multiple speakers in different rooms using the same library. I also want to note that you can control playback with your mobile phone if you're into that kind of thing. In my case, there is simply no reason to use it as designed and I should've just bought a nice pair of speakers that I could connect to a minijack. It would've allowed me vastly more options for things I could play back from my PC (and TV) and saved me money and the headache of another cludgy wireless device.

Comments about Sonos PLAY:3 All-in-One Wireless Music Player / Speaker (Black):
Have two play:5s in the living room and wanted to extend the music into the kitchen. The play:3's combination of small size, simple setup, and relatively big sound have made it a great purchase. If you have a play:5 to compare it to, you'll definitely notice the play:3's somewhat lighter bass, and if this is your first speaker I'd suggest spending the extra hundred for the Play:5. But if you have just a small room, or are looking to expand into a bunch of rooms inexpensively, this is a great solution.Only thing I wish it had is a line-in plug (since it would then be the perfect portable ipod dock replacement).
