The black Yamaha P-105 Digital Piano is an 88-note, weighted-action piano that offers useful features for everyone from beginning players to professionals. The unit is equipped with Graded Hammer Standard (GHS) action, which gives it a similar feel to an acoustic piano.

The P-105's PureCF sampled piano sound and internal stereo speakers make it ideal for practicing. The keyboard offers a Split mode and also an innovative Duo mode. The latter lets two people play simultaneously on the keyboard, with each having his or her own middle C.

Another innovative aspect of the P-105 is the Intelligent Acoustic Control feature. It's essentially an adaptive EQ that changes the tonal balance based on the keyboard's volume setting, making sure that the P-105 sounds as good as possible at any level.

In addition to its built-in speakers, the P-105 features line-level Aux outputs. You can use these to connect to a mixer or other external device without cutting off the speakers. A USB port gives you the ability to interface with a computer. In conjunction with Apple's optional iPad Camera Connection Kit, you can even connect with music apps such as Yamaha's Piano Diary and NoteStar.

You also get 10 built-in styles for practicing with, including boogie woogie, stride piano, and ballad arpeggios. A built in Rhythms feature gives you 10 drum patterns to play with, offering a great alternative to a standard metronome.

Weighing less than 27 lbs, the P-105 is a portable solution for keyboardists on the go.

88-note Graded Hammer Standard (GHS) weighted action keyboard feels like an acoustic piano.
USB and audio connections
128-note polyphony ensures the suppression of dropped notes even with simultaneous Dual & Split modes and a drum pattern playing
Intelligent Acoustic Control provides full, balanced sound that adapts to each user's volume setting for the best possible tone at any level.
The internal speakers stay on when an external connection is made via the P105's Aux Out jacks.
Duo mode allows for side-by-side piano practice. Ideal for schools teaching group lessons, it accommodates two students per piano, each with their own middle C
10 pianist styles give the user a virtual built-in duet partner that plays along in one of ten different playing varieties including boogie woogie, stride piano, or ballad arpeggios.

I'm very happy with this keyboard. Do your research, but it is exactly as described and a good deal for the price range. Sounds great, fully weighted, feels like a piano to me. The only thing that's not so great about it that I've noticed is that I have to push the power button pretty hard for the keyboard to turn off…no biggie. I'm very happy.

I bought this for my piano afficianado son who is moving to a college dorm. He absolutely loves the feel of the keys and the mechanism. The built in speakers don't give a lot of volume but it is adequate. The headphones are well liked too.

The Piano sound I found it that it could be a bit better, but I haven't tried it with external speakers so that could make a big difference or not... we'll see, but so far it's as good as the description says it is. The GHS is great. Definitely is a great Piano for any beginner.

Comments about Yamaha P-105 - 88-Key Digital Piano with Graded Hammer Action (Black):

I play semi-professionally and got rid of my Privia P130 a while ago and decided I needed a digital piano. While the Privia P150 is very competetive, this piano won me over in a few aspects.. I prefer the sound on the P105 over the Casio.. The outputs being 1/4" won me over, had a few issues with the 1/8" the privia has.. The extra features and the drum beat are all extras, haven't messed with them but I will. Keeps practice interesting. I love the fact that the non piano sounds are fairly decent, especially the Elec. Piano sounds. I couldn't give it 5 stars because the sustain pedal on non piano sounds (organ, strings) when depressed hold the sound like a PIANO, decaying instead of continually. It's not a major thing but I wish it didn't do that

I bought this piano to re-learn how to play piano, and also to use for recording via my macbook using Logic pro. It works great as a stand alone digital piano for learning, practice, and fun. It works great as a Midi controller. The hammer action is great...Yamaha has some of the best weighted action.

You won't be dissapointed with this digital piano. I recommend that you purchase the Yamaha wood stand and Pedal system to complete the package.

Note: if you plan on using this in place of an acoustic piano and/or use to play in public you may want to invest in a good speaker system for it.

This piano was purchased as a starter piano. I wanted to learn on as real of a digital as possible. This piano works as it is advertised. The feel is awesome. I am not sure i am the best judge being a noob and all, but I would totally recomend this to anyone starting out. It weighs 40 lbs or so, which negated my thought of carrying it around to practice, but i could if I was in a pinch.
