The 8mm T/3.8 Fisheye HD Cine Lens for Canon DSLR Mount from Bower can shoot both photo and video but has features that make it particularly attractive for shooting video with DSLR cameras. It is an ultra wide-angle lens with a 180º panoramic fisheye perspective. Its silent and smooth aperture transitions and manual focus make it ideal for shooting video and its aperture and focus rings are toothed to provide better grip for follow-focus rigging. Compatible with both full-frame sensors and APS-C sensors, it offers sharp imaging with its 10-element, 1 aspherical optic lens design. A removable petal-type lens hood is included with the lens for stray light deflection and protection of the convex shaped lens.

Designed to work with both full-frame and APS-C DSLRs, providing a 180º angle of view. On full frame cameras, the lens produces a rounded fish-eye perspective with vignetting at the corners. On an APS-C format camera, it produces a fish-eye perspective that fills the frame and is therefore rectangular in shape.

De-clicked aperture movement and toothed focus and aperture rings for smooth and silent operation while shooting video.

Comments about Bower 8mm T/3.8 Fisheye HD Cine Lens for Canon DSLR Mount:

This is a great fish eye for S35 and APS-C sized sensors. Although the distortion is very exaggerated (even more than gopro) it can still be used to get some really creative shots. I would give the lens a higher rating if it wasn't for the fact that the lens tries to be accommodating to full-frame sensors, what with having the removeable hood, but using it on high resolution sensors only highlights the worst of the lens.

Comments about Bower 8mm T/3.8 Fisheye HD Cine Lens for Canon DSLR Mount:

I got the lens for video but have also enjoyed shooting photos with it. Focus can be a challenge shooting stills, though that is not a defect of the lens and just a consequence of lens angle and application. Great lens for the price.

Comments about Bower 8mm T/3.8 Fisheye HD Cine Lens for Canon DSLR Mount:

          Pros:
          -Very wide angle view
          -Good colors
          -Very solid build
          -Looks really nice

          Cons:
-Hard to focus in Manual Mode, Aperture mode is easier
          -Distortion is visible

Overall I would give this lens a rating of 3.5. I was really excited to buy this lens, but when I actually used it it wasn't as useful as I had imagined. It would be great for up close action and some creative landscape shots but other than that you will ruin the picture with the distortion. I am keeping the lens around just for those rare times I will need those kinds of shots.

Comments about Bower 8mm T/3.8 Fisheye HD Cine Lens for Canon DSLR Mount:

i've been wanting a fish eye lens for a few years but never had an SLR. So now that i finally have the SLR i FINALLY bought a fish eye. i'd been shopping for them for awhile and couldnt find any under $, till i found this! Its pretty great, a really wide angle lens. I thought it was gonna be a little less wide but thats fine, its great for making the videos i make and some trippy photos. Then the other downside is that i thought it could zoom.. i mean i guess thats just my fail in research haha but you know. You dont need to focus it too much, its good. Also it came with a pouch and lens cover! All in all: love it! its the first extra lens i've bought and its awesome. also B&H is fantastic, it came a day early even though it shipped on a sunday!! Great service and prices! will be shopping again.
