The Black Selphy CP900 Compact Wireless Photo Printer from Canon provides a fun and easy way to share and print your photos. The new model is both smaller and lighter than its predecessor, the CP800 model, adds wireless connectivity, and can be printed to from mobile devices. Additionally, the new LCD features double the resolution of the previous model. The compact & lightweight printer - uses dye-sublimation technology to output high quality water-resistant prints that last a lifetime. The CP900 outputs a 4.0x6.0" photo in only 47 seconds and can be used with both postcard and business card-sized photos. The paper and ink come in 1 convenient pack that yields a set number of prints - no guessing how many prints are left.
With basic photo edits built in, the Selphy proves to be a mobile photo lab. You can correct brightness and skin tones, crop photos, fix redeye and choose between borderless and bordered prints. The printer even has the popular My Colors and Movie Print features found on most Canon point and shoots. Additionally, the menus provide other options such as an index print, n-in-1 printing (printing 2 or 4 or 8 photos on 1 page), Portrait Optimize, and Smooth Skin.
The Selphy CP900 is easy to use, period. You don't need a computer to print the photos you take with your digital camera, just insert the memory card into the printer, use the LCD to select which photos you want and hit print. Thanks to PictBridge compatibility, you can even print photos directly from your camera without removing your memory card by using your camera's USB cable (PictBridge cable not included). Additionally, you can print photos stored on a USB drive by plugging it in to the printer's front-facing USB port. New to the Selphy CP900 is Wi-Fi compatibility. Print photos from Wi-Fi devices such as a Windows-based computer, an iPad, tablet, or smartphone.
Please note that Wi-Fi printing is only supported on computers running Windows 7 SP 1 and Mac OS X 10.6.8 to 10.7

This is a fantastic little picture printer for the price! Setup/use is fantastically easy, though I will say the wireless seems slow. Easiest use for me is transferring final images via memory card. Bear in mind though that if a memory card is inserted, the computer will fail to recognize the printer as a printer until the card is inserted. It's a little strange of an interface, but otherwise the images are WONDERFUL for the price. Dye Sub printers won't give the most sharp images (think of it as a subtle dreaminess), but they have great colors and are waterproof, not to mention far cheaper than having photos printed professionally. For the ease of use, the quick printing, and the image quality for the price of this printer, I'd highly recommend it.

I already own two Selphy 800 printers which I find more convenient than the new 900 model.
The new model has no card reader slot for Sony or Compact Flash.
It only has the SD reader which none of my pro canon cameras use.
The WiFi is a bit slower than connecting USB. Also the USB connection is no longer a printer cable it is now USB to mini USB (USB A to USB B).
The old 800 model takes a battery but the new middle has a pricey adapter for the battery which makes it less portable and less convenient.
Overall I think the model is less intended for pro use and more designed for tablets and iPhones. The slight changes made to the design were of little or no use to me.

This is a great, little printer. It is small, light weight, and very portable. The pictures it prints are wonderful. I highly recommend the dye sublimation printer. It is going with us on vacation to give the other people in our party pictures of our vacation.

I use this printer at clubs, birthday parties, and many other venues. This printer is fast and prints jpeg's directly from my Canon T2i shape & clear without any editing, my customers go crazy about how fine the print is. The only problem I have is that it only prints 4x6. I would like to 5x7's but overall I still give this printer five stars. Oh and I love the new print system where u know exactly how many copies u can print.

Great little machine B&H perfect service as always. The quality from this dye-sub prints are first class!Big Issue!!! Don't spend hours (like I did) trying to get this to wireless connect to a Mac system running Mountain Lion....it does not have a driver that allows this function. Very, very frustrating out of the box and no warning unless you search the web. Also, don't follow the instructions for installing drivers from the CD or downloadable ones...they don't help and are absolutely terrible quality for both instruction and usefulness ...they suck big and you get no results!!Simply get a USB stick, get your images on it and use this great quality mini printer in that mode.

Using this printer for 'sample' photos for our new business. Tiny but solidly built. Prints are 4X6 but the colors are great! Not to good is the extra you will pay for the battery AND the charger.

Comments about Canon Black Selphy CP900 Compact Wireless Photo Printer:
Bought the Selphy CP900 to use as a "extra" for a photo biz my brother and I are in the process of building. We took it to a party and gave photos away to the people from a photo set up we put up. Had the camera tethered to the laptop and Lightroom 4 opened. I was on the computer showing the photos to people who chose photos to print. Worked seamlessly. A HIT at the party everyone enjoyed it. Passed out over 70 photos with no problems. Even with cropping in Lightroom all went well. Only con is the cost of the battery and the battery adapter which costs more than the printer itself. Wanted the battery setup so we could proof photos in the field or where power hookup was a problem.

I have a Selphy CP800. Bought the 900 so I'd have two of these printers to print photos at events (they are pretty slow).
Unfortunately, I didn't realize that the 900 has a VERY LIMITED built-in card reader, and the USB port didn't match up with the USB reader I carry in my camera bag.
So make sure you know how you are going to print using it before you buy/have to use it.

Comments about Canon Black Selphy CP900 Compact Wireless Photo Printer:
This printer was purchased as a gift for my 84-year-old grandmother, who reads news online and emails but is still baffled by most things computer-related. We wanted a photo printer that would be simple enough for her to use and would print good quality pictures from those she received via email. This more than fit the bill! It's super-easy to set up (though if you plan to use it with a desktop PC which isn't wireless, you'll need to purchase a cable separately, which I wasn't aware of and had me running to a store to pick one up when I could've just added it my order here had I known), and prints very nice quality photos, which come out much quicker than I had anticipated. For the price, this printer can't be beat!
Do yourself a favor, though, and buy the Canon photo paper/ink combo package when you buy the printer, as it only comes with the standard "starter" ink & a few pieces of photo paper.

I wasn't sure what to expect with this printer. I have seen it at a retailer and it was so small. Plus the fact that it utilized dye sublimation film vs ink also caused some concern. There was no need for any. The photos are AMAZING. As you watch them go through 4 passes and at first just see yellow on the paper, you immediately wonder how the image could possibly complete itself. Sure enough when it passes through the blue section, the image magically appears in incredible detail.I have already recommended this printer to 3 other people. Not a single regret

Comments about Canon Black Selphy CP900 Compact Wireless Photo Printer:
I will use this compact photo printer professionally and personally. I have printed about forty prints on two of the three purchased printers. The other two printers were for gifts. All prints were stellar in quality of reproduction. The paper is almost indestructible with a slick acrylic feeling top finish. Very hard to tear up when one doesn't like how they look. The ink comes with the paper on these printers and while not cheap it is reasonable given the instantaneous photo satisfaction and high quality output. So far I've only printed from iOS devices ( iPhone 4S and an iPad 2). It's a simple matter of downloading the free Canon iEPP app from the App Store. The app is very limited in feature set. Use PicCollage from App Store to shoot, edit, label and generally have fun with this great little printer. We used it New Year's Eve to take guest take home photos with cute edits and additions before printing with the Canon print app. Such fun. Also use the same app to put several photos on a 4x6 postcard size print then cut to size for Project Life and scrap booking or crafts.
