The Matrox MicroQuad SDI to HDMI Multiviewer for 3G / HD / SD Feeds, in a body of about 5 x 5", lets you connect four cameras by SDI and then stream all four to share one HDMI monitor at the same time. The monitor will display four quadrants, with each showing one of your camera signals. The signals can be in 3G, HD, or SD format, but must all be of the same. 4K is also supported, via 3G or HD-SDI, and gets downscaled to 1080p. At any moment, you can choose one of the four quadrants to take up the whole screen, and you can toggle between the four in taking up the whole screen.

MicroQuad features all its controls on its body, and no computer is necessary to do what the above describes, but software can alternatively be used to carry out all the same functions. The software is a utility download available at no charge from Matrox. It is Windows-based and gets activated per a USB connection between the computer and MicroQuad.

Stream 4 SDIs from up to 300 ft Away onto One Screen
On a single HDMI display, in quadrant view, Matrox MicroQuad lets you monitor up to four SDI signals in 3G, HD or SD -- all four must be of the same format but can be of different resolutions within the formats. Upon your selection, each quadrant can either display or hide labels and VU meters.

Toggle to Full Screen View
At the touch of a button, Matrox MicroQuad lets you toggle to a full screen view of any one of your inputs and its associated audio.

Synchronize Your Inputs
Matrox MicroQuad will take non-genlocked SDI signals and synchronize both video and audio on the HDMI output.

Monitor Audio
Use the selection border in quadrant view to select the audio source you want sent to the HDMI display.

Control From a Distance
Matrox MicroQuad can be controlled remotely using the Windows-based Matrox MicroQuad Remote application via a standard mini USB Type B cable. The application, which is available as a free download, lets you toggle between full screen and quadrant view; select the input channel, pick audio channels, as well as hide labels and the red selection box. It also lets you create custom labels of up to 10 characters, which will be retained even when the unit is disconnected from the computer.

Preview 4K Content Inexpensively
Matrox MicroQuad lets you view 4K video on a cost-effective HDMI monitor, downscaling to 1080p. Simply connect the four 3G or HD-SDI signals for your camera or output card to Matrox MicroQuad. It downscales your full-sized content and displays it in real-time without seams. You can also switch to a 1-to-1 pixel map of each SDI input.

Integrate Matrox MicroQuad Functionality into Your Own Application
All the features of the Matrox MicroQuad Remote application are available in a DLL and header file to let you easily trigger MicroQuad from within your own software.

Comments about Matrox MicroQuad SDI to HDMI Multiviewer for 3G / HD / SD Feeds:

I use this as a large screen preview of my 4 HD cameras connected to my Tricaster 860. (The Tricaster screens just aren't big enough in ANY multiview config.) Note: this is SDI-only, so you can't mix with composite signals.I downloaded the software, but haven't used it because the toggle switches on the unit do the same thing and they are quicker.

Comments about Matrox MicroQuad SDI to HDMI Multiviewer for 3G / HD / SD Feeds:

I was looking for an inexpensive way to display several HD-SDI signals on one regular TV monitor. I came across the MicroQuad. It seemed to be exactly what I needed with 4 inputs and an HDMI output. Once in hand, I hooked it up and it worked perfectly the first time with no configuration. I installed the software and changed the names of my feeds with no issues.

I think the two issues that I have with this product are the fact that the inputs all have to be the exact same format and the software is PC only. Other than that, it's a really awesome product.

Comments about Matrox MicroQuad SDI to HDMI Multiviewer for 3G / HD / SD Feeds:

The only thing I wish the device did was to allow the display of signals of DIFFERENT INPUT SIZES, such as mixing a 1080i signal with a 720p.

Comments about Matrox MicroQuad SDI to HDMI Multiviewer for 3G / HD / SD Feeds:

Use this as a quad split generator.
                  Pros
Side benefit is that it will switch between any of the four sources and the quad-split without losing sync. No need to wait as your HDMI monitor loses sync for several seconds.
Light weight and compact design with locking power connector.

                  Cons
Runs hot. Leave plenty of clearance for ventilation.
                  No Mac software. PC only
