The Sunwayfoto FB-44DDH2 Ball Head With Panning Clamp is an extremely sturdy ball head with a DDH-02 panning clamp. The DDH-02 is a precision panning base with integral clamp and a bubble level. The scale has laser-engraved centering marks for great precision when shooting panoramic photos.
Compared to the previous DB line of ball heads, the FB-44DDH2 is lighter, shorter, and with a smaller base diameter, but, with 20% greater locking strength in the ball head ball and 50% greater locking strength in the pan base.
Like other higher-end ball heads, the FB-44DDH2 features an ellipsoidal ball that helps it better handle off-center loads – this shape introduces progressive resistance to reduce accidents. But for smoother operation, the aspherical nature of the ball is subtler than that of other heads – the y-axis diameter is only 0.03mm longer than the x-axis diameter (other similar heads typically have a disparity of 0.07mm). The FB-44DDH2 supports loads up to 66.13 lb.
Rigorous testing has resulted in a very strong shell. The control knobs of the FB-44DDH2 are 100% metal – no plastic or rubber is used. This ensures a smooth operation as well as reliability and durability.

Comments about Sunwayfoto FB-44DDH2 Ball Head With Panning Clamp:
My trusty Linhof pro ballhead weighs over 1 kgm, this one is about 400 grams but has as strong or stronger grip, due to the elliptical shape of the ball. It will do for my Canon with tele lenses, and lightens my load by about 1 pound, just what I needed. I have to get used to the fact that it is so small. The panoramic top clamp will be useful it can rotate independently of the ball. As to vertical shots I wished that the cut out for vertical would be a notch larger to allow for a tripod that is slightly off level.
