The Grass Valley EDIUS Pro 6.5 Editing System (Student & Teacher Edition / Boxed Set) is the complete version of EDIUS Pro 6.5 considerably discounted for accredited elementary-school through higher-education students and teachers.
EDIUS Pro 6.5 adds about twenty new features, each one greatly significant, to the previous version of EDIUS, and with each feature being what it is, the additions only further enhance with flexibility the application's already fast workflow, at the core of which is an open timeline system. EDIUS Pro is known across all pro-video applications and is particularly popular in the broadcasting industry.
The open timeline now accepts RED's camera format and as previously also accepts Sony's XDCAM, Panasonic's P2, and many other ones, meaning that you're not limited to a common format and can just throw footage from different cameras right onto the timeline, and moreover, you can just as soon begin editing.
Another of the additions is Apple's QuickTime HQ / HQX codec. EDIUS is only compatible with Windows, but the incorporation of this codec will let you export your files to a Mac as well as to a PC.

Comments about Grass Valley EDIUS Pro 6.5 Editing System (Student & Teacher Edition / Boxed Set):
I think Edius is a great editing platform. For me, it's as good as sitting in front of any 3 ME switcher and giving me a couple pre-read machines. Without reading the manual the software works mostly the way you conceive it should. Sometimes the manual or a demo is needed to get you going but after you learn that, the method makes sense.
My system is a bare bones Quad3 with 6 megs. No nice Gigawhat expansion card, just the Intel internal video device driving a couple monitors and Edius really runs great on it. Without looking at any of my HD video full screen it runs smooth as a top. Popping up a full screen view however it does shutter a bit, but that's to be expected with no video card on an edit system... "that's not right..." says the comic.
I've done several densely layered composites on it now and rendering keeps the previews smooth and crisp, in the above mentioned modes. I don't recall ever crashing the warez yet. I put similar layers into Pinnacle and got memory errors and crashes. Edius is rock solid. (Windows 8).
In short, I love this edit package and highly recommend it. I have no expansion packs on it yet, so I'll refrain any opinion on its puffability, but in its base form I give it two thumbs and am very pleased.

very fast to use especially when you can't afford a fast computer system. this software runs lightning fast compared to adobe and avid. but lacks on the plug'ins compared to adobe.

Comments about Grass Valley EDIUS Pro 6.5 Editing System (Student & Teacher Edition / Boxed Set):
I bought this editor when I found that Edius hardware requirements for AVCHD editing are the lowest on the market. I use to try Adobe Premier and Pinnacle studio and found them really slow on my computer. Edius 6.5 offers a real-time editing from bunch of video-formats, with ability to add as much video- and audio- timelines as you want. This version easily updates to 6.52 and can be legally installed on two computers. It supports harware acceleration (real-time H264 rendering) if your hardware supports VIRTU codec.

Comments about Grass Valley EDIUS Pro 6.5 Editing System (Student & Teacher Edition / Boxed Set):
I really have enjoyed teaching Edius for the past 8 years to interns and employees. Very easy to use! LOVE the quality of the slow motion! It beats Adobe, and Final Cut! Tons easier to use than Vegas! I've Been editing since 1982. I've used them all and tested them all! I highly reccommend Edius!
