Take the portable scanner with you to the library and scan what you need for later, no need to waste paper or money on photocopies. When you get home, simply connect the scanner to your computer via Wi-Fi or the supplied USB cable and transfer your scans. If you scanned a text document, once your file is on the computer, you can use the included OCR (optical character recognition) software to convert any printed material into editable text (Windows only).

The scanner runs on 2 AA batteries so you can easily replace them when they run out; no need to carry a charger around with you. Using standard AA batteries, the scanner can perform approximately 200 scans. The LCD displays the device's status and other important info. The scanner weighs only 6.9 oz (including the batteries) and measures 10x1.2x1.0", making it a great way to store documents and photos on the go.

Comments about Magic Wand Portable Scanner With Wi-Fi (Black):

          Pros:
Very easy to setup and use. You could be up and running in a couple of minutes.
Good scanning quality. Image quality could be changed very easy.
File transfer is quick with WiFi and even quicker via USB. Also you could use a MicroSD card with a card reader.
It comes with PaperPort 14 but it isn't necessary.
Scan output could be changed between image and PDF.

          Cons:
Don't expect high quality scans (when compared to a desktop unit…I got it for portability), especially when scanning photos. Scanning glossy materials might result in washout results.
Depending on usage and settings batteries could run out mighty fast. If you scan a lot then I recommend rechargeable batteries.
This device should have come with rechargeable batteries and it should have been able to charge via USB.
Connecting to the scanner via WiFi, requires you to log out of your network which will disconnect you from the internet. Wireless pass-through could have solved this issue, allowing simultaneous connection with scanner and internet.

Comments about Magic Wand Portable Scanner With Wi-Fi (Purple):

I bought this product hoping to scan the thousands of photos that I have accumulated over the years in a quick and easy manner, with quality that definitely wouldn't be flatbed-quality but still good enough to pass-- especially since this version offers scanning in 900dpi. I bought this with their tabletop stand which worked fine, but the quality of the scanner itself was greatly disappointing.

The scanner worked, yes, but there were lots of thin lines streaking vertically down every single photo I tried, indicating it was inherent to the scanner itself and not the photos (I've scanned a few of the same photos with a flatbed before and it worked perfectly fine). The only way I was able to get rid of all the lines was to resize it down to less than 300dpi (from 900dpi)... which really, defeats the purpose of having a higher resolution option available in the first place.

If you're using this to scan books (eg. those in libraries that cannot be borrowed), office documents, or receipts, I suppose it wouldn't be such a bad scanner. For my purposes, though, I found it to be a terrible let down and a total waste of money. Now I'll have to figure out what I'm going to do with this stupid thing AND the scanning stand.

Comments about Magic Wand Portable Scanner With Wi-Fi (Black):

If it was used with the flat scanner board that I had gotten with it, it may have worked fine. I was scanning an open book and no matter how slow or what setting I had put it on, I could not get a clear print out. It had shadows all over the place and a lot of blurry spots. When I copied the outer firmer cover of the book, the picture came out a lot better. So for what I needed it for, it didn't work, but I can't down it if it is used in other ways like with the board that is made for it, with a separate sheet out of a book. The construction of it was great.

Havent had for long but it works well so far. My only complaint so far is the instructions. Their Quick Start Guide omits one impt. info. To power on press and hold for 2 seconds to turn it on. I thought it wasnt working and almost returned it.
