Product Highlights
  • Fujifilm X-mount Lens
  • Fast, Ultra Wide-Angle Prime Lens
  • 21mm Equivalency in 35mm Format
  • f/2.8-22 Aperture Range
  • Molded Aperture Diaphragm Blades
  • Great Perspective, Minimal Distortion

The XF 14mm f/2.8 R Ultra Wide-Angle Lens from Fujifilm is designed for the X mount on their X-series interchangeable lens digital cameras. This is the fourth prime lens Fujifilm has introduced for the X-series and its widest focal length to date. Its 35mm focal length equivalency is 21mm and its angle of view is 89º. Landscape vistas, architectural shots, interiors and even street photography will benefit from the creative perspective and minimized distortion that this lens offers. Light is evenly distributed from the center to the edge of the frame and it retains excellent contrast and high resolution with little fall-off or distortion toward the edges. Its f/2.8 maximum aperture and wide angle mean fast shutter speeds are possible even in minimal light and fast, smooth autofocus is there when needed. The aperture diaphragm blades on all XF lenses are curved and the edge of each blade is rounded rather than cut-off creating a more pleasing effect to your image, especially in terms of the background bokeh. Focus distance and depth-of-field scales are printed on the focus ring to aid composition when emphasizing depth of field.

The XF 14mm f/2.8 lens offers high-quality optics and an extreme wide-angle perspective to explore your creativity with the Fujifilm X-series digital cameras.

An included SD card contains a firmware update that makes the X-Pro1 and X-E1 cameras compatible with this lens.

Comments about Fujifilm XF 14mm f/2.8 R Ultra Wide-Angle Lens:

When I put this lens on my new X-T1 I was pleasantly surprised by how wide this lens is (about 20mm full frame equivalent) Awesome lens for landscapes, architecture, and occasionally portraits. Love it in low light married with some higher ISO. Feels very solid. Manual focus ring is very smooth and works perfect. I am so happy I chose this lens over the Zeiss Touit 12mm one. Super happy with this purchase. Thanks Fuji! Good glass!

Comments about Fujifilm XF 14mm f/2.8 R Ultra Wide-Angle Lens:

It's a great super-wide. You can get close to your subject and still take in the background. Like the better Fuji XF lenses, it has an aperture ring, so it's easy to switch the camera from P to A to S to M. The only downside is that it works poorly with the optical viewfinder: it blocks a bit of it, and the OVF's FOV is just about equal to the lens', so you don't see much of what's outside the lens's FOV.

Comments about Fujifilm XF 14mm f/2.8 R Ultra Wide-Angle Lens:

The Fuji 14mm is one superb piece of glass. I would have given it 5 stars, but the 'loose goose' aperture ring is just terrible. Fuji should have known better than to issue a lens with such a poor design. The focus scale is also a pain to deal with. But I guess we should be grateful for Fuji making an attempt with a distance scale and manual focus ability. The trend is to 'dummy down' the lenses and not have any manual controls on the barrel.

The only way I can use this lens is to put gaffers tape on the aperture ring to keep it for moving. If not, it is always on the move. For street shooting it is very annoying. Within a few seconds of unpacking the lens I knew what the problem was. How on earth could a zillion hands at Fuji produce such a lens and no one said a thing? I guess it was the same hands that produced 'focus by wire.'

Comments about Fujifilm XF 14mm f/2.8 R Ultra Wide-Angle Lens:

I am an architectural photographer, and I use this lens on a Fuji X-E1 for location scouting and personal projects.

The lens is very well built and very close to Leica quality at 1/5th of the cost. Compared to other fuji lenses (35mm or 18mm) the 14mm feels more heavy but it balances just fine on an X-E1 body.

The image quality is simply superb; the images are sharp, full of contrast and free of distortions. For my style of photography, this is godsend.

I wouldn't hesitate to shoot a paying job with this combination if the push came to shove.

I have an X-Pro1 with the 35mm 1.4 and this lens and I can´t think of a better combo. I can put both in my bag and carry them all day long. This lens has an amazing image quality, very sharp, renders colors beautifully and the zone focusing scale when you pull the focus ring is really handy. If you need a wide-angle prime (this would be around 21mm if you consider a 35mm sensor), this is a very good option. Great for landscapes and street photography.

Comments about Fujifilm XF 14mm f/2.8 R Ultra Wide-Angle Lens:

To find this lens "5 stars" good, you have to be looking for this kind of lens. This is much larger than the "pancake" primes in the Fuji lens lineup - it's almost the size of the 18-55 kit zoom. It's also a very wide angle, so you will get stretching distortion near the corners. In exchange for the largeish size, however, you get some of the sharpest optics in the Fuji lineup. Even straight into the sun, contrast and colors remain very good. It also focuses very quickly, has a real dedicated aperture ring, has the push/pull focus ring and depth of field markings on the barrel. If you're in a mid-to-small sized room and you want to pull a LOT of the room into each shot, or you want to shoot faces from conversational distance, this is your lens. Also great for interior shots.

Comments about Fujifilm XF 14mm f/2.8 R Ultra Wide-Angle Lens:

I took advantage of the lens discounts along with trading in my 18-55mm (which I only used at 18mm) and I am not regreting my decision. This is my first "ultra wide" lens and am really enjoying this POV. I am using this for landscapes and long exposures but I find its minimum focus distance great for changing the perpective of a shot.

Comments about Fujifilm XF 14mm f/2.8 R Ultra Wide-Angle Lens:

I recently purchased the X-Pro-1 with the 55 1.4 glass; and while I am hugely impressed with that lens, I made a mistake in buying it since my passions are landscape and architechure. I prefer wide to ultra wide for those areas.

I ran the lens through a series of test shots to insure I didn't receive a lemon. Over a course of about 15 shots of fixed horizontal, vertical and diagonal lines on a white fence, I was unable to detect any barrel or pin cushion distortion. I looked very closey for fringing and CA--I could not detect anything. I'm so used to those issues with a Tokina 11-16 2.8 that I was somewhat skeptical not to find any of the above. Nevertheless I double checked and came up with nothing. I did have some vignetting at 2.8; detecting any more vignetting past 2.8 was beyond both my eye sight and technical capabilities.

This lens is deceptively light and compact. I don't bother with auto focus, so I will not comment on it. The manual focus is relatively fast, but nowhere near as fast as the manual focus as on the Canon FD lenses that I have used extensively in the past. The aperture ring is almost too loose; but, this is not an issue for me as it difficult for me to move it inadvertantly. I have no issue with the plastic lens hood. I found it to be very sturdy with a fine, felt-like anti-glare material on its interior.

My regular shooting experiences with this lens have been a pleasure. The images captured with it are generally a joy to edit, given the occasionaly difficult lighting situations.

                    I highly recommend this lens.

I took advantage of the Fuji sale on lenses to acquire this wide angle lens. After my first outings with the lens I realized this lens is a bargain even at MSRP. Comments about Fujifilm XF 14mm f/2.8 R Ultra Wide-Angle Lens:

This lens is another great edition to my growing Fuji XF lineup. With the recent purchase of my X-T1 I wanted to get a strong round up of high quality lens to complete my collection and the XF 14mm f/2.8 fits my needs perfectly. Great for landscapes and some creative portrait shots as well.... Would definitely recommend to anyone...

Comments about Fujifilm XF 14mm f/2.8 R Ultra Wide-Angle Lens:

Sharp, little to no distortion or chromatic aberration, awesome ergonomics. Reasonably fast.Price is a bit high, but if you look past the sticker shock, the value you get really exceeds the price. Really superb glass...plus I love how Fuji is building loyalty by adding features and quality through continued firmware upgrades.

The Fuji XF-series prime lenses are excellent with only a couple of exceptions. This one is right up there in quality with the 35mm and 23mm offerings.

Comments about Fujifilm XF 14mm f/2.8 R Ultra Wide-Angle Lens:

This is the one I have needed without even knowing it. I have used 28mm for years, 35mm as well but this 21mm (all converted to 35mm equivalence) is perfect for the types of photos I like to take. Sharp as sharp can be.

Comments about Fujifilm XF 14mm f/2.8 R Ultra Wide-Angle Lens:

The lens may seem to be expensive for what it is, but in my humble opinion, it is the best bang for the buck. I've owned many prograde glasses from Nikon and Canon. This lens nears quality of Leica lenses at a fraction of the cost. The lens is very well built, and is feather light, yet, optical quality is nearly flawless. Near zero distortion, no visible aberrations, and sharp from corner to corner. I've held off moving to Fuji due to the lack of lenses, but after the release of 14, 23, and the forthcoming 56, I finally sold off my Nikon DSLR gear (D800E + lenses) for Fuji compact system. No regrets, and my prints match the quality from the D800E.

Classic Fuji: Solid build, great optics, small package. Can't wait to travel with this lens. A bit pricey, but Fuji rebates put it within reach.
