We got one of these at work a while back, and I was immediately impressed with it. I now have one at home to help organize all of the "keep this for your records" stuff that piles up with frightening speed.

As a dedicated document scanner (as opposed to the scanner found in an all-in-one printer/copier/scanner/fax), the scan quality is excellent. It's fast, and doing duplex scans in a single pass makes it even faster. What makes it really easy to use, though, is the software. Insert your documents and push the button, and off you go, even using a Mac. Mac users know what I'm talking about here - a lot of "one touch" scanner drivers are Windows-only or just don't work that well (ahem...HP), but Fujitsu has done a good job of making their software work with the Mac OS. You don't need to be too concerned about getting your documents pointed the right direction. The software will rotate it right side up (most of the time) and does a respectable job straightening up skewed documents like receipts that don't always feed straight through. It will also do OCR if you want it to and provides several options for sending your scanned documents by e-mail or saving directly to Evernote, Dropbox, SugarSync, and others. There is also a scan to print option if you need copier-type function.

My only complaint about it is also software-related, and that is that the software could allow for more user customization. The example that comes to mind is that it seems to require you to save the scanned document somewhere unless you're e-mailing it, in which case saving it locally is optional. So I have to deal with those space-hogging files that I've already processed. It would be nice to have the same option that I have when e-mailing documents to choose not to save the file locally. Along the same lines, when scanning to e-mail, I can select a name for the file that is produced. When I scan to Evernote, I get a default file name that I have to change later.

Other than the small software limitations (that could easily be fixed if somebody is paying attention), it's a great system.

I purchased the ScanSnap S1301i as a replacement for a single sheet scanner, which is limited. I wanted to do multipage and duplex scanning. The ScanSnap is a nice unit but, unfortunately, I do have problems with several type documents that I scan. Foremost are those ubiquitous thin as all heck receipts you get from most stores. They are often long and it is quite difficult to get them to stand up in the tray. I tried using it as they show in the videos and web site, but have not been too successful. I have varying luck with other size paper and most often it works fine. I do like how it attempts to straighten out a misaligned feed as well as correcting a skewed image.

Another thing that bugs me is the software for the Mac. While it is good, it is not as robust as the Windows version. Everything they show in the videos and on the site have top facing scanning being done. This is great but on the Mac, I found out that this option is not available. The extra software provided with the Mac is also not as robust as that for the Windows version.

I went with the ScanSnap based on the recommendation of my favorite Mac podcasters. After I purchased the unit, a friend recommended another brand which appears to handle various paper sizes by using fixed paper sized chutes and a much more robust Mac version of their software. Had I known about this product, I would have done a bit more research before purchasing the ScanSnap.

Overall it is a big improvement over the previous unit I owned but still is not my ideal. I did install the PC software via Parallels and it is indeed more impressive.

Comments about Fujitsu ScanSnap S1300i Document Scanner:

I use the product in a home office and it is fast and easy to install and use. You can save the files into any format very easily and the software needed to run the scanner is so easy to use. It's very fast for my needs and I plan on going completely paperless in my files with this new device. When not in use it's small and out of the way. Just flip it open, load your documents and press an easy to see bright blue button and your digital doc is created. A B&H salesman recommended this after I scoured online reviews for weeks - I love it!

I purchased this first for an organization I was working for to easily scan paperwork. One click and it was done as opposed to many steps it was taking me with my all in one. I have just finished my time with this group and before I packed up the ScanSnap I had another one ordered for myself. I cannot be with out this little powerhouse!

The screen comes up and you choose if you are wanting to email or send to a file or wherever. You name it and off it goes.

Comments about Fujitsu ScanSnap S1300i Document Scanner:

I purchased the Fujitsu ScanSnap S1300i after researching personal scanners for several weeks. I was looking for a fast, duplex (2 sided) scan unit with included software that's easy to use. The S1300i certainly fit the bill. B&H was better to, or equal, to the best price I could find. You would be lucky to find a unit at a local store as most major chains to not stock the unit. I based my decision on the 1000s of positive reviews. Having made many purchases from B&H I had no concern of returning the unit if I wasn't happy. Well the S1300i isn't going back. I have only been using the unit for a couple weeks butt so far it's been awesome. Installation was simple and straight-forward. I had it up and running with the software and drivers loaded in less than 10 minutes. Scanning could not be more simple. You simply open the top which expands vertically to accommodate longer paper. It also has adjusting guides for width. There one button. Press it and the document scans in...fast. The software id great as it has a host of options to pretty much do whatever you need. Scan to PDF, search PDF, scan to Word, scan to Excel, scan to cloud, scan to mobile, etc. It organizes the files and auto-corrects the images to insure it's straight and right side up. It can scan business cards and import them into Outlook. I have only begun to explore all the features of the unit and software but have no doubt the S1300i will not disappoint.

Comments about Fujitsu ScanSnap S1300i Document Scanner:

We've had the S1300i for about a week, using it in our nonprofit home office--which means relatively light useage.

We're particularly pleased with the small size of the unit and how unobtrusively it sits on one of our desks, which makes it much more accessible and usable than our flatbed and AIO scanners.

The installation of the software, following the instructions in the manual (available online), went quickly and without any problems.

Once installed, we found the ScanSnap Manager easy and efficient to use; and, for the most part, OCR to Word works as well as can be expected.

The only minor drawback we've discovered to date is that when loading a full 10 pages in the S1300i, one must be careful to set them in the device with a light touch--otherwise the scanner is likely to misfeed two or more pages at a time.

We bought this scanner to connect to a laptop to scan about 50 pages per week of miscellaneous office documents. The scanner is small, and works well, but is really only good for occasional scanning. It is too small to hold any amount of paper - especially on the paper coming OUT of the scanner once it has been scanned. It is perfect for light scanning.

Comments about Fujitsu ScanSnap S1300i Document Scanner:

This is the perfect scanner for our company. It is fast, easy to use, and small in size. We ended up purchasing both the S1300i model as well as the larger version, the iX500.

Comments about Fujitsu ScanSnap S1300i Document Scanner:

I have owned the ScanSnap for a week, and have found it was easy to connect to my computer. It is easy to use and I use it almost daily.
The one draw back that I have found is combining individual scans into one document or save each individual document saved in a different file. I feel that those questions will be solved with time. There was no manual included in the box nor an internet site given to find a manual.

I think this is a great product. It's very easy to use, and it scans much faster than my all in one printer. I haven't used it to it's fullest potential yet, but I do plan to put the unit through it's paces very soon, I use it primarily to scan my music charts into a pdf file reader on my iPad. It works great so far. The owners manual was a vague and could've been more detailed, but there is a downloadable version. It wasn't too hard to figure out

This scanner is very useful for occasional scans of few documents. The included software works very well with both Windows and Mac OS. I have gotten occasional double feeds and the ADF sometimes crumples your document by feeding it at an angle.

Comments about Fujitsu ScanSnap S1300i Document Scanner:

I needed a small portable scanner for work. This one was highly recommended by several of my colleagues so I decided to try it.
I am horrible with new technology. It is always a big ordeal for me to learn to use something new. I basically took this out of the box, plugged it in, and it worked. Very, very user friendly. Small, sleek and does the job.
I've only used it with regular paper, so I can't comment on how it handles photos or small items like receipts.

Comments about Fujitsu ScanSnap S1300i Document Scanner:

After only a week with this scanner I've cleared out a tremendous amount of paper. I really like its dual sided mode which will scan both sides of a sheet with a single pass....and since the software automatically eliminates blank pages you can just leave it on. It also allows you to rename the file while its being viewed which really helps speed up sorting. The unit is very small but seems well constructed. Feeding multi paged docs does well for me up about 3-4 pages...it can have issues with thicker materials like card stock, but overall I'm very happy with it.

I was looking for a receipt scanner - this is fantastic. Using it on my mac. I prefer this to the NeatReceipts by a long shot because i just do the work myself and it seems way faster. For the most part, the software stays out of your way. Haven't even tried the OCR option but if you're looking for something fast, reliable, and easy to use, this is it. Highly recommend.

Comments about Fujitsu ScanSnap S1300i Document Scanner:
