The Rokinon 35mm T1.5 Cine Lens for Canon EF with geared, manual focus and aperture control rings, is optimized for digital cinematography. The aperture ring has been "de-clicked" for smooth iris pulls, and depth of field markings provide an essential aid to focus pullers. Optically, this lens is identical to the Rokinon 35mm f/1.4, which is known for its excellent sharpness, contrast and bokeh.
Hybrid aspherical lenses and multi-layer coating produce sharply defined images with a minimum of flare and ghosting. There is slight vignetting at T1.5 on a full-frame sensor but it is nearly gone by T2.0, and APS-C or MFT sensors will probably never see it. The 35mm lens focuses as close as 12" (30.48 cm) from the lens. A bayonet mount, petal-type lens hood is also included.

If you're on a budget (is anybody not on a budget?) and are looking for a prime cine lens for your DSLR; this Rokinon Cine is well worth the price. It's sharp, and the fully manual [de-clicked] aperture ring is one of those little things that you don't realize you need until you try it. The optical quality and build probably doesn't compare to Zeiss' CP2s or Canon's CN-Es, but it's still affordable and decent glass, and more than enough to allow you to go out there and shoot. I've shot a few hours worth a footage with it and so far I'm very pleased. I have to admit that the lens had me smile on a few occasions. Wrapping a good day's work knowing that I shot some good footage with a cine lens that I didn't have to sell my car for is a good feeling. As a rookie independent filmmaker, I'd rather spend part of my gear & production budget on a lens like this and still have enough to buy other components (and other lenses) than spend nearly 10 times as much on one good lens. I'm fully aware that a good Zeiss on a better camera will yield better results, but for now that's not what I need. If I'm able to make a living off of filmmaking; then I'll eventually invest in good cine glass. Until then; this Rokinon is allowing me to experiment with my camera and my rig, and I'm getting good stock out of it. At roughly $ , it's a low-risk, high-reward investment, and I recommend it fully.

Comments about Rokinon 35mm T1.5 Cine Lens for Canon EF:
I got this lens this week, and have not used it in a project yet or to its fullest, but from tests I've done it's amazing. The declicked aperture ring is great, and makes no sound whatsoever. The focus ring is really smooth and quite easy to use, even with out a follow focus; I definetely want the rest of these!
The build is sturdy and feels like a profesional lens, of course, that adds to the weight.
The only thing I have to critize for now is that the lens cap seems to be a bit difficult to keep in place. But for the price, i believe you get more then what you pay for.

I use the lens on my 5D Mark II for motion pictures. It's spectacular. I'm able to shoot wide shots in very limited lighting conditions. It's changing the way I work, in a good way.

Comments about Rokinon 35mm T1.5 Cine Lens for Canon EF:
This is the most fun lens I own at the moment. I would rather use it than any of my L glass on my C100 for its filmic look. If you're used to still lenses for shooting video and think that's all there is you will learn much the first time you use this lens. Brings a "wow" to the set whenever somebody checks out the image I'm getting. I keep looking for opportunities to use it. Be warned: I think this is a "gateway" lens and it's made me decide to declick my other manual lenses, as well as save to acquire more cinema lenses.

Comments about Rokinon 35mm T1.5 Cine Lens for Canon EF:
This is a great lens. I got it to use on my Canon DSLR. However, I did end up returning the lens because the crop factor on the APS-C sensor of my T3i made it zoom too far in. For a full-frame camera though, this is a great lens at a better price.

I've just tested the lens making some still photos in my Canon 5D Mark III video mode and the results are simply awsome! A great difference when compared with my Canon 35mm 2.0, for example. A sharp cinema look with no headaches, hehehe! The manual aperture control beyond a shadow of a doubt is one of their unique features. Of course, when working with a fixed focal lenght, we have to train a lot at recording a subject in movement, but nothing one coudn't do with patience. Of course I recommend it at all!

I've bought 3 of these lenses and love them all! The ability to use a follow focus on this natively, and having all the marks on the side for ease of view for focus pulls, is also incredible, especially when the others, like Zeiss, or Canon are 3-5k, unlike these that are 300-500 ish.

Comments about Rokinon 35mm T1.5 Cine Lens for Canon EF:
After using mostly Canon lenses, my company was attracted to these Rokinon lenses for a few reasons. We shoot manual video with our 7D and 5D, and as such, cinema lenses made more sense. The built in gears for follow focus make it so much easier than trying to find the perfect gear ring for a still lens. The actual quality of the image is fantastic. Others may have slight complaints, but our footage was super sharp, with great colors. The only downside is that the shutter has to be manually changed on the lens, as our cameras don't recognize the lens.

Comments about Rokinon 35mm T1.5 Cine Lens for Canon EF:
It's worth more than the price.
It's more versatile and has a more natural look than a 50mm low F-stop prime lens.
Another plus is the iris is completely manual and silent, so you won't get any annoying clicks if you try to change the aperture during a run and gun shoot.
The main downside is no image stabilization, but if you keep your camera on a tripod or shoulder rig this isn't much of a problem.

Comments about Rokinon 35mm T1.5 Cine Lens for Canon EF:
I specialize in digital filmmaking and realized the key to making full use of DSLR cameras is to use cine lenses instead of photo lenses. Most cine lenses are thousands of dollars, but with the rokinon cine lenses you can have a whole arsenal of focal lengths for the price of 1 good zeiss, or half of one good canon L series. The glass is good and the iris blades are very responsive. The only downside to these lenses are their plastic bodies. They don't feel as rugged and strong as other more expensive lenses, but they will do exactly what you need for a fraction of the price. Very very good lenses for the filmmaker on a budget. The declicked iris is the most attractive point for the cine lens. You don't realize how much you need it until you have it. The follow focus years built onto the lens are another welcome addition. It's made for filmmakers. And that goes a long way.

Great, sharp, fast lens. This lens renders a little on the warm side but is comparable to the zeiss ze/zf line. The plastic construction is surprisingly better than you imagine. Focus gears are well made and de clicked aperture is very smooth. It is nice to have a fast lens that can be used for cine and video.
